Three Cards for Sunday

I am playing along with Muse #23 this week, where our Muse is Anita with this gorgeous card.  I have only recently begun following Anita's blog, and I was so happy to have the chance to make a card inspired by her.  She is so talented, and also leaves such nice comments on my blog, which I read to myself in my head with a French accent.

One thing I have learned this week is that playing at the end of the challenge means that all the good ideas are used up.  Either that, or my brain is being slow.  I took a quick look at the gallery before starting this morning, and was blown away with the number of beautiful cards, any number of them making me slap the side of my head saying 'why didn't I think of that first'.  So, I tried to take a different approach--I focused on the dots, the bling, and all that beautiful white space.  Also, I picked a sentiment from the same Paper Smooches set as Anita used--Sentiment Sampler has got to be my all time favorite Paper Smooches set.

Next up is my entry into this week's RetroSketches RS#70.  I used a Beautiful Butterflies die and some papers from Basic Grey Clippings to create my focal point for this anniversary card.

Last up today is a card for this week's Dynamic Duos DD#59, where I used Berry Sorbet along with Memento Grey Flannel.  I followed the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#34.  I inked up a Plain Jane set from Verve for the first time, too.

Happy Birthday to Ardyth

Happy Birthday, Ardyth

Today Darnell has gathered  a group of us together to wish Ardyth a happy birthday.  Ardyth is definitely up there on my list of people in blog land I would like to meet in real life.  Ardyth leaves a kind comment on almost every one of my posts (and I do post a lot), and I can always count on a big burst of colorful inspiration whenever I stop by her blog.

Our instructions were to case a card from Ardyth's blog--what a fun task.  When I think of Ardyth's style, I think colorful, CAS and square.  So, that is what I went with.  I picked this card to case, and made a 4X4 card using one stamp from PTI birthday bash and another stamp from Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders in a rainbow of colors.

Ardyth--I hope you have a wonderful birthday, full of everything that makes you happy.

Edited to add:  In a true case of serendipity, this card fits the criteria for this week's One Layer Wednesday--a one layer birthday card that would suit Ardyth's style--she is the host of this week's One Layer Wednesday and also the birthday girl.

I am also entering this card into this week's Simon Says...Anything Goes challenge.

Clean & Simple Card Making (2) Days 7 & 8, PTI Anniversary, and More

I am just a wee bit behind in my homework, but trying to catch up.  The homework I chose to do for Day 7 involved using a background stamp and masking.  The card was supposed to be one layer.

You may be noticing that this card is not one layer.  I know--points deducted for not following directions.  I really did try.  After removing my mask, I realized that there was not enough definition around the letters, due to all the white space in the pattern of the background stamp.  So, to fix that and have my sentiment be legible, I just die cut the letters and heart out of Pure Poppy Card stock, and stuck them on.  And, since I was already breaking the one layer rule, I went ahead and popped the heart up and covered it with Glossy Accents, and mounted the front panel on a Pure Poppy base.  So, this is not quite in keeping with the lesson, but I like the card much better.   By the way, that background is one big stamp from Hero Arts called Zig Zag and more.

I will be entering this card into this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC88:  Love Letters challenge, as well as Simon Says Stamps:  Have a Heart challenge.

For my homework from today, Day 8, I made my own plaid, based on a tutorial by the famous and fabulous Laura Bassen.  I used this week's ColourQ 175 colors and stamps from Lawn Fawn's Belinda's Borders and Clear to See sets to make a valentine that I will be entering into this week's Lawnscaping Challenge #51.  And, again, I am entering this card at Simon Says Stamps:  Have a Heart.

This card looks very simple, but I am almost embarrassed to admit how long all that stamping and masking took.  Please linger and admire it thoroughly (just kidding).

Christina

Last of all, I have two more cards for the Papertrey Anniversary Design Team Favorites challenge.   Again, I am casing one of Christina's favorite cards.  You must think that I sit around all day and do nothing but case cards by Christina.  Well, doesn't everybody?   I needed a couple of thank you notes, so made this card in two color schemes--expanded versions of the color schemes we used on a Make it Monday a few weeks ago.

That's all for me today.  Please let me know if you have any questions about supplies.  This post is already too long.

Make it Monday #94 and ColourQ #166

I have been making lots of tags, and I used this week's Make it Monday #94:Detail Glitter Technique on the four tags I am posting today.  I used PTI Patterned paper in Pure Poppy and Enchanted Evening, the Memory Box Country Landscape die, and a sentiment from Tiny Treats Christmas.

Here is a close up of the glitter (Martha Stewart):

Here are two with buttons.  I couldn't decide, so I made one of each:

I also made a card for this week's ColourQ #166.  I was inspired by this card by Jen Willis.  I was originally going to do something else with these colors, but I couldn't get those chevrons out of my mind.

My sister told me she needed a 'Thinking of You' type of card, while I was stamping this card, so I chose this sentiment from my very favorite Paper Smooches sentiment set, Sentiment Sampler.  The chevrons are from Lawn Fawn's Belinda's Borders, and my colors are PTI:  Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky, Hawaiian Shores, and Aqua Mist.
