Crafty Round Up

Hello and happy Sunday.  I've got a few cards to share today.  First up is a card inspired by the sketch at Lawn Fawnatics #95.  I used one of my favorite older Lawn Fawn sets and papers for this card--A Birdie Told Me and Into the Woods.  I've always loved those speech bubbles, and was very happy to find patterned paper that provided my sentiment.

My next card is inspired by the MFT Slimline Challenge to make a birthday card.  I really liked the designer sample card that used a bunch of festive large balloons, so that is what I did too.  I used colors from MFT Color Challenge #159, and am also entering this card at Happy Little Stampers February Stencil Challenge: Anything Goes and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Favorite Technique (stencil).

I created my next 4 cards when I saw the challenge at Inkspirational #233: Tower and my friend Sandie's card here.  I pulled out 2 Eiffel Tower dies and set to work having fun.  I will also be entering all 4 of these cards at Happy Little Stampers February Die Challenge: Anything Goes.

My first design was also inspired by the challenge at Just Us Girls #572: Rainbow and the photo at Fusion Challenge: Rainbow Dress.  I created a rainbow cloud background and added a thank you sentiment in French from Avery Elle Bonjour.

I made another card just like the one above, but with a sunnier background, and my sentiment is hello.

And, here they are both, together.

My next pair of cards uses a Paris Scape die by Sugar Pea Designs.  In December, 2019, my husband and I went to Paris as what was supposed to be the start of a new chapter for us...less work for him and more traveling for us together.  Well, we all know what happened in 2020...at least I still have the dies!  I am entering both of these cards at the February Sugar Pea Mix it Up Sketch Challenge #76 and Use Your Stuff #416: It's My Favorite (Paris is one of my favorite cities).

For this version of my Paris Scape, I created the sky by blending several different blue Distress Oxide inks.  Then, I splattered water and finally, sprayed with Avery Elle Clear Shimmer Spray.  I layered 3 die cuts together to add dimension to my scene. I am also entering this card at Inspired by #IB162: Quote Me (sentiment is a quote from Confucius) and Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge: Love is in the Air.

Here is a closer look at my second version with the Paris Scape die.  I used yellows and oranges to create more of a morning scene, and switched the die cut from white to black.  I also used water splatter and shimmer spray, but the effect is so much more subtle with the lighter colors.

My Crafty Saturday

It is the week before finals, so that means lots of crafty time for me, as I hang with my daughter, helping her stay on task.  I have one more card for this week's Lil Inkers Sunny Days Challenge, and it is another birthday gift.  Rachel's friend requested card making supplies for her birthday, after playing with me in my craft room last summer.  Well, of course I am always happy to corrupt--I mean provide guidance--to a young crafter.

I was inspired by the clouds, sunshine and rainbow in the inspirational picture.  I used my new Card Hanger Die to decorate the gift bag, that I filled with some stamping supplies to get this young lady started.  I ordered a few $5 sets and ink cubes from PTI, and supplemented that with some pre-cut folded card bases and stamped die cuts that she can color.  Here is what was in the bag:

My next card is for this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC103:  Congratulations.  Great timing, since I need to increase my stash of this kind of card.  I used the colors from this week's ColourQ cQc #191 for my card.  I was inspired by this card of Debbie's to make a sequined shaker card.  (My silver sequins are my grey).

JJ Bolton was kind enough to send me a stamp set of my choice for playing in a little contest she was running on her blog.  I picked Bonjour, and this is the first card I made with that set.  I used the colors of this week's Color Throwdown CTD244.  The colors are showing up very dark in the photo--I used SU Tempting Turquoise, PTI Hibiscus Burst and Harvest Gold, and Memento Grey Flannel ink.  I covered all the colored parts with Glossy Accents, and colored the centers with a glitter pen.

My last card for today uses this week's Dynamic Duos DD#55 colors and the sketch at Seize the Birthday STB18.

That's it for me today.  Please come back tomorrow--I'm sure I'll have more.

Pattern Play Day 4 & 5 and Some Other Challenges

I have  4 cards as homework for Pattern Play days 4 and 5, and this time, I incorporated several of my favorite challenges as well.

Day 4 was all about altering patterned paper.  There are all sorts of things one can do to change up the look of patterned paper.  My first card uses a very sweet stamp that I won from Serendipity called Three Dresses, and papers from Carta Bella Beautiful Moments.  I used three different patterns from this pad to paper piece each of the dresses, and a 4th pattern for my card front.  I used faux stitching (the only kind I know how to do) on my card front with the Lil Inkers Stitched Rectangles dies.

My next card uses papers from Lawn Fawn Bright Side, which I have altered by using Ranger Enamel Accents in black and white for all the flower centers, and Frosted Lace Stickles on all the flower stems.  I am also entering this card in this week's Seize the Birthday sketch challenge and Simon Says Stamp challenge to make a spring card.

Moving on to Day 5--Paper Manipulation.  My first card uses a paper quilting technique taught by Kristina.  I think this is such a fun look, and will definitely be doing this again.  My card uses papers from American Crafts Hip Hip Hooray, and follows the sketch from this week's Seize the Birthday challenge.  There is no stamping at all on this card, as I used my new PTI Headline Alphabet and Numbers dies for the sentiment, so I am entering this card into this week's CAS-ual Friday's challenge of 'No Stamps'.

My last card uses a paper weaving technique, also taught on Day 5.   I used more papers from Lawn Fawn Bright side and then cut my woven piece with a Tag Sale #6 die.  I used my new Lawn Fawn dies to cut a birdie and some speech bubbles from the same paper pad.   The challenge this week at Lawnscaping is Stitching, and I used two different types of stitching on this card--both faux, of course.  The card base has faux stitching from a die, and the tag has faux stitching with a stamp from PTI Sew Simple Borders.  I am also entering this card into the Speech Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, and the Simon Says Stamp challenge to create a spring card.

That's it for me today.  Let me know if you have any questions about supplies.  I'm too lazy to write them all up, and I have some more ideas for cards I want to make.
