This is my last post before departing tomorrow with my oldest daughter on a week long college tour. She has always wanted to go to school on the east coast, so we will spend the week visiting colleges she thinks she might want to apply to. I've got a few posts scheduled to go live while I am gone, but don't be suprised if you don't hear from me in a while. I am not bringing a computer, and am really going to try to be as disconnected from the internet as possible.
My first card is for this week's Color Throwdown ctd287. I wanted to try out some of my new Distress Inks and use them with water. I picked three colors that looked closest to the CTD colors--Stormy Sky, Squeezed Lemonade and Bundled Sage. I inked up an old wooden stamp I found in my closet that was sort of a block shape, stamped on watercolor paper, misted the entire thing and then dried with my heat gun. After the colors were dry, I stamped the sentiment in Versifine.
I like the blurry sort of look that the water added. The colors are also much more vibrant--I don't know if that is because of the water, or because the Distress Ink covers are so muted. Anyway, I thought it made a nice simple card that would work well as a masculine card.
Next up is my second card this week using ColourQ #236. I decided to make a little thank you set using the circles from Sketched Shapes and whatever color challenges come along that appeal to me. My sentiment is from Avery Elle Modern Leaves.
My finished card size is 3.5 x 5. While trying to fix a stamping mistake, I made the happy discovery that if I double stamp the circles from Sketch Shapes and rotate the stamp 90 degrees for the second stamp, I get a cool sort of plaid pattern on the stamp.
This card uses the Colour Me Striking... combination from this week's Colour Me CMCC #14. I used Bermuda Breeze, Crushed Curry (substitute for Daffodil Delight) and Smokey Slate as an added neutral.
I'm entering this one at Dynamic Duos DD#96, and I used PTI Winter Wisteria, Harvest Gold and added Memento London Fog as a neutral.
Here is my set so far. I'll see what color challenges are posted when I get back from my trip and finish off the set.
I got a new toy this week, and spent way too much time trying to figure out how to use it. The Gift Bag Punch Board was super easy to use, once I figured out the confusing directions. I looked at a lot of tutorials, but found this one to be the most helpful. Here are some little bags I made with some of the 12X12 scrapbook papers I had in my stash.
I made one modification and that was to adhere a strip of coordinating paper to the very top of the paper that I was using as my bag. I also made a matching tag by gluing a small piece of patterned paper to a piece of white card stock and then cutting a tag using the smallest Reverse Confetti Tag Me die. I stamped 'to' and 'from' on the tag using To You From Me.

We had a fabulously rainy day today (we needed it so badly) and I got to play for a bit in my craft room. I was inspired by this card by Nicole in the Papertrey March newsletter--I used my Sweet Speech stamps to make a pair of thank you cards my daughter's speech and debate team to sign and give to their coaches. I hope that they 'get' how clever I was to use speech bubbles on their card (because they are coaches for speech...). The first card uses this week's colors from ColourQ #230, and it is going to the female coach.
I used the colors from Colour Me Playful CMCC#9 for the card thanking the male coach. This is the first time I am playing in this challenge. I've been trying to get to it, but this is the first time I have not missed the deadline. I substituted little die cut stars for the flowers in the speech bubbles, and then coated all the stars with Glossy Accents.
My next card uses the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#66 and the colors from Dynamic Duos DD#92. I have been meaning to break out my new Circle Scribbles stamps. I used the backs of the stamps in HA Pale Tomato and PTI Enchanted Evening to stamp over the black scribbles. I added kraft as an additional neutral--it just seemed to look better to me that way, and I impressed the stamped panel with the Burlap Impression Plate.
I have to show a close up of that sentiment, from Neat & Tangled Across the Card--it was my first time using Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black, and I am in love with that ink--incredible coverage on that solid image. I read on some blogs that the ink takes a while to dry, and I am not a patient crafter, so I heat set it for a moment, and had no problems with smudging.
I stamped a quarter sheet of card stock with that pattern and wanted to do something with the leftover piece. I made a second card, using a sentiment from Doodlie Do, and am entering that card at Simply Create Too #56 where their challenge is to Shop in Your Stash.

Well, this is crazy--two posts in one day--but I am trying to catch a few challenges that are about to end. I'll be brief.
First up is a card for this week's Make it Monday #152. I used the colors of this week's Dynamic Duos DD#91--the closest I had were SU Pear Pizzaz, Calypso Coral, and Strawberry Slush. I used Fancy Flourishes with Fresh Snow ink, and Leave it Be stamps. I was surprised how well the technique worked, and the flourishes really show through, especially on the most solid stamp.
This card is to help WPlus9 celebrate their birthday. The challenge is Week 3 Trend Watch, and I've incorporated several trends in my card--feathers, sequins, and gold. I used the colors from this week's Color Throwdown ctd280, and the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch CTS #65 and Freshly Made Sketches FMS #124.

I think that City Scene is my favorite stamp set ever. And the cards I am posting today have got to be amongst my my favorite cards that I have ever made. I hope you like them, too. There are just so many fun ways to combine these stamps and dies.
My first card is for this week's RetroSketches rs#88. I may have simplified the sketch a bit. There were a lot of lines in the sketch, and it was hard to keep track of everything. I stamped a few buildings in the background using Soft Stone ink. Most of the other pieces were die cut and layered. We are in New York on this card--possibly Brooklyn.
My next City Scene card uses this week's Sweet Sunday #196 sketch, rotated 90 degrees clockwise. I am excited because this is the first time I have ever played in this challenge. My city has hopped over the pond to London for this card. That tree behind the double decker bus is from Winter Hills. I left this one without a sentiment. There wasn't a good place for one, so I will just put something inside when I use the card.
This last (for today) City Scene card brings us back to New York for Christmas. Wouldn't that be fun in real life? I grew up in a suburb of New York, and we used to go into the City every year at Christmas time. Such a fun time to be in New York. This card is not for any challenge--just for fun.
My last card for today uses the Stamped Square Border technique explained in this week's Make it Monday #139 and the Dynamic Duos DD#77 colors. It is a CASE of Marybeth's card from earlier today. I loved her striped red and white square border with the sweet winter scene, so I made my own using the candy stick from Candy Cane Christmas and Winter Penguin. I used some tiny snowflakes from Snow Globe stamped in Brilliance Platinum Planet, and a little snowman from Tag-its #8.

I was inspired by the colors of this week's Dynamic Duos DD#72 to make some cards for some of the Breast Cancer Challenges that I've been seeing, now that it is October. I am also entering these cards into the Anything Goes Challenge this week at Paper Smooches Sparks, as well as Link Up for Pink. This week has really run away from me, and I realized that I needed to stop and post the two cards that I have made so far, or I would miss the Dynamic Duos deadline. My first card uses the sketch from this week's Retro Sketches rs#83.
My second card is also for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.

I set out this morning to make a card for this week's Dynamic Duos DD#71: Crumb Cake and Basic Black with a Dessert Option of Wet Embossing. I assume that wet embossing is the same as heat embossing--hope so because that is what I did.
I used Brilliance Lightning Black on it's own for the chevron pieces, and heat embossed with clear for the squares. I used my brand new PTI Stitching Impression Plate for my raised panel.
The Lightning Black has a whole lot of gold shimmer in it. So much so that I am entering this card into the All That Glitters is Gold Challenge in the Moxie Fab World challenge. Here is a close up:
