CASology Week #268: Fortune

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is FORTUNE.

I struggled a bit with this one, and I know my fellow Design Teamies did, too.  But I know that you will find lots of inspiring ideas to help you play along with this cue word this week.

This sentiment kind of reminds me of the sort of message you might see inside of a fortune cookie.  and, the image reminded me of origami and I thought of those little paper fortune tellers we used to fold up when we were kids.  See how the imagination can stretch?

Now it's your turn.  How does FORTUNE inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

With Sympathy

I had a chance to make a card this weekend, and when I saw Kim's beautiful inspiration card over at MUSE #234, I knew I had to play along.

Here is Kim's inspiration card.

Kim's Inspiration Card

I was inspired by Kim's design, her blue flowers with green leaves and a pop of purple, and her die cut sympathy sentiment.  You can see that I kept pretty close to Kim's card.

I wanted the die cut sentiment to be the only die cut on the card, so I did a lot of masking to get the two flower clusters stamped with their leaves.  I cannot tell you how nervous I was stamping the last few things--worried I'd make a smudge or mistake at the very end.

I was also playing along with PTI Make it Monday #297: Mixing Florals, so I combined flowers from Gran's Garden with leaves from Herb Garden.  True confession--I think my leaves are really parsley!

I am also playing along at Addicted to CAS #120: Florals and CAS on Friday #117: Use a Die cut.

Time Out #92...Reminder...Spread Joy

There is still time to play along with our current challenge at Time Out.  Our challenge this time is inspired by the following quote:

“Paint the flying spirit of the bird rather than its feathers.”~Robert Henri

I was inspired to pull out these darling hummingbirds who are flying around the flower and spreading joy.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our Design Team and Guest Designer. Our Guest Designer this week is Carol, so please stop by her blog to see what she has created for this challenge.  Happy Little Stamper is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run another week.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

L'Shanah Tovah--Wishing You a Good Year

Tonight is the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year (5778).  L'Shanah Tovah--I am wishing all of my friends a sweet new year.

This is the card I sent to family and friends this year.  We celebrate the new year with the symbols of apple and honey, to signify our hopes for a sweet year.  This year, I focused on the apples.

I dug deep into my stash for the apple stamps from PTI Fruit Fusion, and paired them with a newish set, also from PTI--L'Shanah Tovah for my sentiments.  And, I used a brand new die (Brushed Off Rectangle) for the first time to get that fun kraft mat.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card.

I am entering this card at Retro Rubber #71: Anything Goes.  The apple stamps are at least 5 years old--could be older--and the sentiments are 2 years old.  I am also playing along at The Paper Players #362: Clean and Simple Harvest.  Of course, the apples are what I am harvesting this fall.

CASology Week #267: Big

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is BIG.  I just received this giant butterfly stamp from a new PTI freebie stamp set called Ever So Much.  (side note---can you call something free if you have to spend $100 to get the 'free' item?)

One way to use a really large image stamp and still preserve a lot of white space on your card, to keep it Clean and Simple, is to have part of the stamp go off the page.

Now it's your turn.  How does BIG inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

CASology Week #266: Cake

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is
CAKE.

Funny thing about cake--I actually don't like to eat cake, but I love to stamp it.  Here is a card with the prettiest cake stamp I have.  It is from PTI Just Desserts.

Now it's your turn.  How does CAKE inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

Time Out #91...reminder...Happy Birthday to You

There is still time to play along with our current challenge at Time Out.  Our challenge this time is a CASE challenge, and we have this stunner from Beverly Brown to inspire us.

I was inspired by the colorful stripes and the simple black stamped design.  I used a stamp from Watercolor Wonder to created stripes in colors similar to the inspiration card.  Then, I stamped one of my favorite ME happy birthday images right on top.  This card was quick and easy, but I tried several other things that didn't work in the end before settling on this design.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our Design Team and Guest Designer. Our Guest Designer this week is Lucie, so please stop by her blog to see what she has created for this challenge.  Uniko is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run another week.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

CASology Week #265: Education

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is EDUCATION.  Time to go back to school!

This card is going to my niece, who is teaching in her very own classroom for the first time this fall. I know that she will be an an amazing influence on her young students this year.

Now it's your turn.  How does EDUCATION inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

Labor Day Crafting

I am back from vacation and done with the laundry--time to hit the craft room!

First up is a card using the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #237.  I took a little bit of liberty with the sketch, but was so excited about how my rainbow was looking, I did not want to stop.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Monday Stamp It challenge, as there was so much stamping involved.

Next is a card for Make it Monday #296: Small Images on Repeat.   I used some images from Tiny Treats Birthday to make a card to add to my birthday stash.  I followed Lexi's suggestion to make the card smaller--mine is an A1 sized card.  I am also entering this card into Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

Last up--a card for Just Us Girls #409: Shoes.  Well, this So Cal gal lives in flip flops, so that is what I went with.  I am also entering this card at Less is More #344: Lime Green / Royal Blue, and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.
