Friend to Friend and Get Well

I've got several cards to post today.  First up is a card inspired by this week's Muse #101.  I was inspired by the colored card base and the stripe of white embossed stamping.  I masked off a section of a red card base, and stamped a random grouping from Doodlie Do.  I scored above and below the stamping and added a sentiment in the reverse color scheme.

I am also entering this as another example for this week's CASology Challenge #130 where the cue word is FRIEND.  My design tip--white space can be red.  I am also linking up at Uniko  Studio #17 where the challenge is Love and Friendship and Less is More #207 where the theme is Friends.

I needed to replenish my stash of masculine get well cards.  When I saw this card from fellow CASology teamie Hazel, a lightbulb went off in my head, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I started playing around with On My Couch, Polka Dot Parade (the one with the easy chair) and some new Lil Inker dies.

I am entering the first of this series at Happy Little Stampers January Sketch Challenge, and the second at Colour Me #55.

Four Cards for Thursday

Today I have a card that uses the colors from this week's ColourQ #268 and the sketch from RetroSketches #141.    When I first saw the colors and some of the samples, I was thinking feminine, but after I put my card together, I realized that my design worked better as a masculine card--so I picked a different sentiment that wasn't so ornate.  I'm also entering at Seize the Birthday, without toppings.

After cutting my 3 different colors of card stock with the SSS Diamond Parade die, I stamped them all with the background texture stamp from the same set as my sentiment--PTI's 1960's Stamp A Faire set.

Happy 2nd birthday to Addicted to CAS.  I made a card with my newest owl stamp, this little cutie from Unity called Woo Hoo Owl.  He is perfect for my owl-loving daughter because he has long skinny legs and wears glasses, just like her.  Can you see the Glossy Accents I used to make lenses on the glasses?  I am also entering at Addicted to Stamps #122 for their Make your Mark challenge, as I used Copic markers on my owl.  My daughter is going to Florida tomorrow for a big lacrosse tournament, and I'll be tucking this into her suitcase.

I was inspired by Kristie's card to finally use my No Strings Attached stamp set, and made another card for The Card Concept 23 Krafty Christmas.  I will call my card Clean and Layered.

My last card is for this week's Muse Challenge #94, Paper Players #222 Clean and Simple Thank You, and Simon Says Wednesday challenge thanks or Thanksgiving.  I wanted to follow the basic sketch of the gorgeous inspiration card, and use the technique of overlapping stamped images and inlaid die cutting for the sentiment.  When I stacked up my sentiment and inlaid it back into my stamped panel, topped with the layer cut from the stamped panel, it was really too difficult to read the die cut word, thanks.  So, I left it as a stacked inlay, but did not put the last layer on, which was the layer cut out of the stamped panel.  I added some burlap texture to the card front.

That's it for me today.

Muse #91

Hi there.   I am playing along with Muse #91, where Michele has challenged us to choose a single sheet of designer paper and make a trio of cards.  Just look at what Michele did.  Isn't it stunning?

I went through my 12 X12 stash and selected a sheet I had been hoarding because of how much I loved it.  My paper is Bella Blvd. Christmas Countdown City Sidewalks.

Could I really cut into it?  Yes, I did.  Ha ha--my secret trick is that I bought 2 sheets--one to use and one to hoard.  Here is my trio of holiday cards.

I think this one might be my favorite.  I cut out some of the house and tree images from the paper and created a scene with my Mama Elephant stitched border dies and a sentiment from PTI.

A simple row of houses cut from the paper nestled between a Pure Poppy border and another PTI sentiment.

And last, another row of houses with a different PTI sentiment.  That polka dotted paper at the top is the back side of the pattern paper I used.

This was a really fun challenge, and I am glad that I decided to actually use a piece of paper I had been hoarding.  I am also entering these cards at Christmas Card Challenges Anything Goes.

Making Cards Instead of Going to the Gym

Yes, this is what I did today.  My car was in the shop, so I couldn't get to my spinning class.  It was a good day to stay home and play in my craft room.  First up is one of my favorites of the day.  It is for this week's Merry Monday #130:  Silent Night and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge O is for...Oval.  The stamp is Hero Arts Cling Winter Trees, and I stamped it in SU Night of Navy directly on the card base.  I marked the size of the oval opening with a pencil, so I knew where to place the stamp, and the sentiment is stamped on vellum, which is wrapped around the card front.

My next card is inspired by this super cute card of Therese at Muse #89 and is also for Lawnscaping #91 Patterned Paper.  I am sending this card to MD Anderson Cancer Center as part of the SCS HYCCT challenge Chicks Stick Together (HYCCT1411).

Another Peaceful Pinecones card inspired by Festive Friday and this card by Ashley Cannon Newell.

I am entering this next card in a new challenge for me--CAS on Sunday #44 Emboss it.  I used dry embossing and heat embossing on my card.  The embossing powder is Ranger Verdigris and it has a very cool bluish-goldish look.  This card and the next two are all based on this card by Laura Bassen during last month's PTI release.

Edited to add that I am linking this Christmas card with pink in it to the Pink Christmas Challenge at Jingle Belles.  They are donating $4 to the Susan G Koman foundation for every card linked up.

I'll enter this next card at Virginia's View #8 where the challenge is Clean and Simple.

I will be sending all of today's holiday cards to the Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Thanks so much for sticking with me for this really long post.
