5 Cards

It seems like forever since I've been able to play along with Muse, so I was happy to have some time and an idea for this week's challenge.  I fell in love with the inspiration card.

Muse card byTherese Calvird

I was inspired by all those vividly colored cupcakes all snuggled up together.  I knew I wanted to something that involved masking and coloring.  I decided to use the paintbrush image from Friendship Jar Fillers, and I stamped and masked it repeatedly across the bottom of my card, and then colored just the paint part with Copics and then Wink of Stella.

My next card is for this week's ColourQ cQc #224 challenge.  I used a layout that I see Deanna use a lot, and I have always loved.  I don't have all of these colors--I had to substitute Soft Sky for Pool Party, and PTI Pure Poppy for Poppy Parade.  I stamped my flowers and leaves in Versamark and heat embossed in clear.  I stamped my Soft Sky background strip with Soft Sky ink on Soft Sky paper.

I made these next three cards yesterday.  I am trying to convince myself that I don't need to order any PTI from this month's release.  If I can restrain myself, it will be the first month in about 3 years that I don't order on the 15th.  I thought I would CASE a couple of the DT samples to prove to myself that I don't need these new stamps.  Wish me luck.

This card was cased from this card of Nicole's--6th one down.  I used Strawberry Slush and Tempting Turquoise because I was planning on entering this card at Colour Me!, but I missed the deadline.

This card was cased from this card of Nicole's--2nd one down.  I used the colors from Color Throwdown, but missed that deadline, too.  Oh well.  They are nice colors and not ones I would have thought to use together.  I made my own argyle pattern using a diamond from Happy Harlequins and (horrors!) drew the dotted lines myself with a fine marker.  The frame is from Mat Stack #2, a set I have not pulled out in forever.

This last card is cased from this card by Lizzie--3rd one down.  I think it may just be my favorite of all I am posting today.  The sentiment and images are from Chair-ished--an older set I bought at a real bargain price a while back on the forum, but never even looked at.  When I saw Lizzie's card, I was dumbfounded to realize that I had almost everything I needed to replicate her card.  I added the tiny hearts (from the butterfly die in Love Lives Here) and will use this card to send to my daughter (from our dog) when she is away next summer.

Well, that's it for me today.  On the 'to do' list is to pay more attention to the ending dates of the challenges I am planning to enter.  Oh, and to resist buying any more PTI stamps, at least for the next few days.

Yay--Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Anything Goes, so I will be able to enter these cards in a challenge after all.

My Crafty Weekend, So Far

Happy Easter to all my friends who celebrate.  Things around here are pretty quiet.  Not much to do but craft on Easter weekend if you are Jewish.  I decided I'd better take a break, post what I have made, and clean up.  It's a pretty nice day here, so I think we will all head down to the beach for a nice walk later.

First up is a baby card that I made with my new Hello Foxy set as well as some paper scraps from Echo Park Hello Summer.   This card is for Retro Sketches rs#57 and Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes.  I did a little paper piecing on the fox, and the heart is popped up and covered with Glossy Accents.

Next up, another baby card, this one for this week's Dynamic Duos DD# 46.  I used Autumn Rose as my deep pink, and Memento Angel Pink for my 2nd color choice.  I was inspired by this card by Christina.  I used Watercolor Wonder for the stripes, and Whale Wishes for everything else.

One more card for Dynamic Duos.  This time, my 2nd color choice was Simply Chartreuse.  I wanted to play around with my new Waltzingmouse Camellia set that I won.

Next up is another card inspired by Christina.  I am linking up to this week's ColourQ cQc #182 and the Chevon Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  I've got chevrons on my Happy Harlequins, and they are stamped in a chevron pattern--double chevrons today.  This card is also for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge to use a shape repeatedly on a one layer card.

My next card is for this week's CASology week 37, where the key word is 'hope'.  I used Amuse Fight Like A Girl and Paper Smooches Hope to make this card I hope I never have to use. Edited to add--bummer, I missed the CASology deadline...

My last three cards use the technique taught in this week's Make it Monday #109:  Watercolor Stamping Plus Embossing.  This technique is harder than Betsy makes it look in the video.  Lots of my inks ran together to create a funny shade of brown.  But, I did get it work a few times on some die cuts, so those were the ones I used to create my cards.

This card uses Hibiscus Burst and Winter Wisteria.  I omitted the white embossing on the smaller buds, because there would have been almost no color showing if I didn't.

These next two cards use Hibiscus Burst, Berry Sorbet and Hawaiian Shores.

Well, that's it for me for this weekend, so far.  I'm not going to type up all the supplies, but please let me know if you have any questions.

Make it Monday #93

This week's Make it Monday #93:  Splitting Die Cuts shows us how to stretch our dies further by splitting up the die cuts.  Such a great idea, and I wonder why I never thought of it before.  I used the Harlequin Cover Plate and a sentiment from Think Big Favorites to make a get well card for a friend.  I added just the narrowest strip of Pure Poppy on either side of the cut pieces of the Harlequin die cut--things looked a little unfinished without that strip.

I've got several more ideas floating around in my head, and hope to try this idea again before the week is done.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Think Big Favorites, Happy Harlequin
Paper:  Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy
Ink:  Pure Poppy
Other:  Harlequin Cover Plate

Lots of Cards

I had quite a crafty weekend, so I have a number of cards for different challenges.

I am making up for lost time with Lawnscaping.  I have my second card for this week's Lawnscaping Challenge #45:  Dust Em Off.  I used the sketch from this week's RetroSketches #37 for my card.  This was the first time I used Winter Fox, and also the first time I used that border stamp from Belinda's Borders.

My next card is for this week's Make it Monday #90:  Creating Focal Points with Stamps and Dies.  I modeled it after this card I made earlier in the week (that got a Facebook Shout Out!!).  I don't have Thanks All Ways, but made do with sentiments from Grunge Me and Big & Bold Wishes.

Here is a peek at the inside:

I used the colors from this week's Color Throwdown #217 for my next card, which was inspired by this card by Nicole Heady.   This card will be going to my nephew when he turns 8 in two  weeks.

I wanted to play around a bit with my Happy Harlequin stamps and dies.  I used the colors from this week's Play Date Cafe PCDD157.   I would also like the thank the gals at the Play Date Cafe, for selecting this card of mine last week as one of the Fab Four--see my new sidebar badge.

Finally, I used two of the hundreds of die cut ornaments sent to me by my friend Suzanne to make this card, which will be sent to the Caring Hearts Drive.  Click here to learn more about this holiday card drive.
