CASology Week #272: Cherish

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is CHERISH.

I could not resist pulling out a very old PTI set called Chair-ished, and went with a punny take on the cue word.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Monday challenge of Monochrome this week.

Now it's your turn.  How does CHERISH inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

CASology Week 93: Electric

It's time for another CASology challenge, and our cue word this week is ELECTRIC.  Fun, right?  I have enjoyed pulling out favorite older stamps that haven't seen much ink recently for my CASology cards, so today I pulled out Lighten Up and Chair-ished from PTI.  The cue word of ELECTRIC made me think of things that plug in, so I thought of a lamp.

How about you?  What do you think of when you see the word ELECTRIC?    Have some fun with this cue word, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday 5/5 at noon (CST).

I stamped a little scene using a chair, dog, and floor from Chair-ished, and a floor lamp from Lighten Up.  I sponged some Lemon Tart ink around the lamp shade--showing a warm glow from a lamp turned on.  In person, the yellow inked area is barely visible, but in the photo it is quite bright.

Since CASology is a Clean And Simple challenge, I thought it would be helpful to review some things to keep in mind when creating a CAS design:

1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)
3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

You can see that my card meets all 4 criteria above.

So, what do you think of when you see the word ELECTRIC?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by ELECTRIC.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Monday 5/5 at noon (CST).

Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

5 Cards

It seems like forever since I've been able to play along with Muse, so I was happy to have some time and an idea for this week's challenge.  I fell in love with the inspiration card.

Muse card byTherese Calvird

I was inspired by all those vividly colored cupcakes all snuggled up together.  I knew I wanted to something that involved masking and coloring.  I decided to use the paintbrush image from Friendship Jar Fillers, and I stamped and masked it repeatedly across the bottom of my card, and then colored just the paint part with Copics and then Wink of Stella.

My next card is for this week's ColourQ cQc #224 challenge.  I used a layout that I see Deanna use a lot, and I have always loved.  I don't have all of these colors--I had to substitute Soft Sky for Pool Party, and PTI Pure Poppy for Poppy Parade.  I stamped my flowers and leaves in Versamark and heat embossed in clear.  I stamped my Soft Sky background strip with Soft Sky ink on Soft Sky paper.

I made these next three cards yesterday.  I am trying to convince myself that I don't need to order any PTI from this month's release.  If I can restrain myself, it will be the first month in about 3 years that I don't order on the 15th.  I thought I would CASE a couple of the DT samples to prove to myself that I don't need these new stamps.  Wish me luck.

This card was cased from this card of Nicole's--6th one down.  I used Strawberry Slush and Tempting Turquoise because I was planning on entering this card at Colour Me!, but I missed the deadline.

This card was cased from this card of Nicole's--2nd one down.  I used the colors from Color Throwdown, but missed that deadline, too.  Oh well.  They are nice colors and not ones I would have thought to use together.  I made my own argyle pattern using a diamond from Happy Harlequins and (horrors!) drew the dotted lines myself with a fine marker.  The frame is from Mat Stack #2, a set I have not pulled out in forever.

This last card is cased from this card by Lizzie--3rd one down.  I think it may just be my favorite of all I am posting today.  The sentiment and images are from Chair-ished--an older set I bought at a real bargain price a while back on the forum, but never even looked at.  When I saw Lizzie's card, I was dumbfounded to realize that I had almost everything I needed to replicate her card.  I added the tiny hearts (from the butterfly die in Love Lives Here) and will use this card to send to my daughter (from our dog) when she is away next summer.

Well, that's it for me today.  On the 'to do' list is to pay more attention to the ending dates of the challenges I am planning to enter.  Oh, and to resist buying any more PTI stamps, at least for the next few days.

Yay--Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Anything Goes, so I will be able to enter these cards in a challenge after all.
