ColourQ #346....Happy Father's Day

If you are looking for my CASology post, please click here.

It's time for another color challenge at ColourQ.  I love this color scheme for a masculine card, and also took my inspiration from the photo.

I pulled out a necktie stamp and die set that my friend Kim gave me ages ago to make this CAS Father's Day card.

Please head over to the ColourQ blog to see more inspiration from the Design Team.  I hope you will play along this week.

Belated Birthday Wishes

I've got a belated birthday card for today, and by the time you read this post, it will be on its way across the pond to a very special bloggy friend.  This card is busier and more layered than my normal cards, however I wanted to play along with Make it Monday #202:  Anchoring with Border and Banner Dies.  I think I struck sort of a compromise.  At least the top half of the card is CAS, and I tried to keep my die cuts 'airy'.

The dies I used to anchor my focal point are Just the Ticket--cut from vellum and embossed in white, Circle Scribbles in Winter Wisteria, Super Star Border Die in Limeade Ice and Loop de Loop II Border Die in Melon Berry.  My colors are from this week's ColourQ #281, and I am also entering this card at Simon Says Monday No Rules and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

Weekend Recap

Happy Sunday.  I hope everyone had a very nice Valentine's Day.  I am posting 4 cards I made over the course of the weekend.

First up might just be my favorite, but I'm not sure.  I was inspired by this beautiful inspiration card at Time Out.  I made a pretty literal CASE because I could not see any possible way to improve on this card.  My twist is to have a black card front, underneath my white diagonal stripes.

I am entering this card at Time Out #24, Lil Inker Designs Monthly Meetup Challenge, Colour Me #58, and Simon Says Monday Challenge Red & Pink.

I was inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #110 for my next card.  I masked the flower to stamp the leaves, so I am also linking up at Addicted to CAS where the challenge is MASK.

I am also linking up at A Blog Names Hero Small Scale, as I kept my stamping to a small section of my card.

I finally used one of my new Simon Says Stamp dies--Mod Circle Frame--and made a birthday card using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown #329.  I am also linking up at Addicted to Stamps #131 Anything Goes and Seize the Birthday (without toppings).

Last up is a valentine to put away until next year.  I like to have valentines that are not too lovey dovey and more appropriate to send to friends.  I used a die of hearts set in the shape of a heart, and I stamped some newsprint underneath and randomly filled some of the open hearts with red.  The die cut word is from Wet Paint Cuts.

I am linking this one up at ColourQ #279.

Well, that's it for me for today.  I've got to get my big mess all cleaned up to make room for some new goodies I plan to order tonight when PTI's February release goes live.

Congrats and Happy Valentine's Day

Hi there.  Instead of watching the Super Bowl commercials, I am going to quickly post 2 cards I made the other day but did not have time to post.  My first card uses a repeated stamping technique that I learned about on this video by Jennifer McGuire.

I used a small stamp from Wet Paint and an assortment of WPlus9 ink colors.  I originally stamped on a 4 1/4 by 4 1/4 square, but got a smudge, so I cut out my stamped circle.  I am entering this card at Addicted to Stamps Clean and Simple challenge and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge Anything Goes.

My next card is a Valentine.  I was inspired by the coloring Kara did on this card.  I used copic markers in the colors matching this week's ColourQ to color in this stamp from Quilled Elegance.

I am also linking this card at Time Out where the challenge is Valentines Day with the optional twist of hearts, Inkspirational, where the challenge is rose colors, and Curtain Call Kissing Booth challenge.

Mostly Get Well Cards

I've been in and out of my craft room all weekend, and am now ready to post everything.  I focused on restocking my Get Well cards this weekend.  I still need to make some masculine cards, as I realized that all the ones I made this weekend are quite girly.

I'll start with my favorite of the bunch.  I am entering this tag at Tag You're It #13, where I was inspired by the washi tape, layered die cuts, double layer tag and the tiny bow on Heather Campbell's pretty inspiration tag.

I decided to turn my tag into a card, and it will be sent off tomorrow.  The Washi Tape is NBUS--you still have a few hours to play along at CASology, where the cue word this week is NBUS, and you have a few days to play along at Darnell's NBUS Challenge.

I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #169 for my next card.  I finally broke into my NBUS Cuppa Love by Papertrey for the flowers inside the circle window.

I used the Cuppa Love stamps again, along with the matching die, for my next get well card.  I stamped a stripe across the base of the card using one of the graphic stamps in the set, and then adhered my stamped cup on top.

I used this week's ColourQ #275 for my colors and the home made foam sticker technique from this week's Make it Monday #175 for my little take care tag.

My last get well card uses a technique I saw somewhere, and I think it is called baby wipe stamping--or something like that.  I can't remember where I saw it, or even if I did it right, but I tried it and made a card.  Something about putting reinkers (I used drops of liquid water color paint) onto a baby wipe and then having the colors run together.  I used Delicata Gold for the flower centers because I thought the card needed a little something more.

Here is a picture of what it looked like in process.

Switching gears entirely, I have two cards for this week's Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge Soft Scarf.  I thought I'd pull out some holiday Hero Arts stamps, since they are the sponsor.  I had two ideas, both of them incorporating the colors from the scarf as well as the idea of a frosty cold holiday.

I made a shaker card using sequins in the same colors as the scarf, and my stamping is Silver on black card stock.

On my next card, I stamped a snowy neighborhood, then masked the houses so I could blend a sunset background in the same colors as the scarf.  I colored some of the white bits of the houses with colored pencils, and went over the snow with Wink of Stella.

Well, that's it for me today.
