CASology Week 135: Mini

Happy Tuesday everyone.  It's time for a new challenge at CASology.  This week, our cue word is MINI.  Think small, my friends, and see where this cue word will take you.

I made a little mini card, with a mini stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  My idea got started when I found this mini kraft polka dotted bag, and I thought it would be fun to make a little mini gift enclosure card.  I paper pieced all the images using some Doodlebug papers.

I am joining in the celebration at Lawnscaping, where they are celebrating their 100th challenge. Congratulations, Lawnscaping!!

I hope you will play along with us this week, and show us how you are inspired by the word MINI.

CASology Week 133: Love

Hello and happy Tuesday.  It's time for another cue word at CASology.  I've gotta say that this word is so fun, easy and timely--there's no excuse not to play along.  LOVE.  Yes, that's right, the cue word this week is LOVE.  So many different ways to go with this--valentines, wedding, anniversary, baby, the list is endless.  What do you love?

I have to admit, I almost made (another) chocolate card.  It's one of my big loves.  But, I decided to break out some adorable Lawn Fawn elephants that I have had for a while and have never used. Lawn Fawn is our sponsor this week, so I used stamps and papers by them.

I am also playing along at Lawnscaping #99 Clean and SimpleCAS(E) This Sketch #109 and Just Us Girls.

Will you join us this week and make a card inspired by LOVE?  I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Lawn Fawn and WPlus9

After working out with a friend at the gym and taking Sherlock to the dog park, I had most of the day home by myself to play in my craft room.  I'm starting to collect polar bear stamps, since my daughter's future college mascot is a polar bear.  I used the polar bear in Lawn Fawn Critters in the Snow to make a few cards for my polar bear card stash.

I created a background using a heart stamp from Into the Woods and used foam tape to adhere my fussy cut my polar bear right on top.  I used my Copics to add a little shading to my bear.  (still don't know what I'm doing there).

I have to say that this next card did not really come out as I saw it in my mind--a bit busy for my taste.  But, I still think that my daughter will enjoy receiving it in the mail.  Another polar bear card for my stash.

I am entering both of these cards at Lawnscaping #98 where the challenge is to create a background with stamps and Simon Says Monday Winter Stamping.  I am also entering the first card at Simon Says Wednesday Have a Heart and Addicted to Stamps #128:  Holiday--my holiday is Valentines Day.

I started playing around with WPlus9 Quilt Prints, trying variations of colors and patterns with the colors and sketch from The Challenge #23.  I decided I liked all my variations--so I added a variety of Get Well type sentiments, some subtle textures, and now I have 4 more get well cards for my stash.

Making Cards Instead of Going to the Gym

Yes, this is what I did today.  My car was in the shop, so I couldn't get to my spinning class.  It was a good day to stay home and play in my craft room.  First up is one of my favorites of the day.  It is for this week's Merry Monday #130:  Silent Night and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge O is for...Oval.  The stamp is Hero Arts Cling Winter Trees, and I stamped it in SU Night of Navy directly on the card base.  I marked the size of the oval opening with a pencil, so I knew where to place the stamp, and the sentiment is stamped on vellum, which is wrapped around the card front.

My next card is inspired by this super cute card of Therese at Muse #89 and is also for Lawnscaping #91 Patterned Paper.  I am sending this card to MD Anderson Cancer Center as part of the SCS HYCCT challenge Chicks Stick Together (HYCCT1411).

Another Peaceful Pinecones card inspired by Festive Friday and this card by Ashley Cannon Newell.

I am entering this next card in a new challenge for me--CAS on Sunday #44 Emboss it.  I used dry embossing and heat embossing on my card.  The embossing powder is Ranger Verdigris and it has a very cool bluish-goldish look.  This card and the next two are all based on this card by Laura Bassen during last month's PTI release.

Edited to add that I am linking this Christmas card with pink in it to the Pink Christmas Challenge at Jingle Belles.  They are donating $4 to the Susan G Koman foundation for every card linked up.

I'll enter this next card at Virginia's View #8 where the challenge is Clean and Simple.

I will be sending all of today's holiday cards to the Caring Hearts Card Drive.

Thanks so much for sticking with me for this really long post.

Get Well Soon and Thinking of You

Hello and happy Monday.  Despite my house guests, I was able to sneak a bit of crafting time in this weekend.  My first card uses this week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #93 and the challenge at Lawnscaping #90: Critters Galore. I broke open my NBUS Lawn Fawn Get Well set to make this get well card suitable for a young person--always good to have one or two of those in my stash.  I die cut, stamped and colored the little images from the set, and then adhered them at various heights to my card front, which I impressed with my PTI Hexagon Cover Plate for a little quilted dimension.

If I were not over the limit, I would be linking up at Darnell's NBUS challenge--but I am mentioning it here just in case you have been living in a cave or under a rock--and you are not familiar with this challenge.  Use something new, link up here, and get a chance to win a fabulous prize.

I am entering my next card at ColourQ #259 and Sweet Sunday Sketch #237.    I used the extra pieces from the LID Stitches and Stripes Cover Plate, and ended up inadvertently flipping the sketch.  The flowers are from WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals, and the stripes are the extra pieces from the LID Stitches and Swirls Cover Plate.

I am also entering both of these cards at Simon Says Monday Stencils or Stamps--because of the stamping.  I'm off to do a little blog visiting now.

Make it Monday, Colour Me, Lawnscaping and More

I am trying to get caught up from my trip, and finally had a bit of time over the past few days to make a few cards.

First up are two cards I made using the technique at Make it Monday #161:  Watercolor Splats using the colors from Colour Me #17.   After applying my inks using my mini ink daubers, I painted water spots all over the paper.  I was too impatient to wait for it to dry, so used my heat gun to speed up the process.  I cut the Memory Box Prim Poppy out of the panel, and then filled the space in with a white die cut that I had completely coated with Wink of Stella.  My sentiment is from Verve, and I put a tiny rhinestone inside the flower that is the 'o' in Mother.

OK, can  you see where this is going....What to do with the poppie die cut from my water splatted base?  Yes, you are right--I just made another card that is the opposite of the first card.  I added a bunch more tiny little water splats just on the flowers.  My sentiment is stamped with Brilliance Lightning Black--one of my favorite specialty black inks--I just love how muted and shimmery it is.   I am linking this card up at this week's Simon Says Wednesday Keep it Clean and Simple.

I'll be linking both cards up at Make it Monday and Colour Me.

The challenge this week at Lawnscaping #80 is Mini.  How fun is that?  I love mini things.  I've got two mini projects to link up today.  First up is this little mini birthday card, that I am also linking up at this week's Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

I made a little envelope using my Envelope Punch Board and paper from MME Happy Day.  I used the same papers to paper piece a mini birthday card using  the Hippo Birdie.  I'm so in love with this little mini card and envelope, I don't know if I will ever be able to use it.

I have another mini project for Lawnscaping #80--a mini paper cube.  Hard to tell in this close up photo, but this cube is 2" by 2" by 2", and I bought it at Impress.

I stamped three sides with flowers from Penelope's Garden.

Last up is a card I started making last week for Make it Monday, but did not finish it in time to enter.  I used the stamping and embossing on die cuts technique show in the video here.  I am entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Keep it Clean and Simple and Simply Create Too Challenge #60:  Stack em Up.  I stamped and embossed the flowers from In Bloom before die cutting them.  It did make it much easier to emboss.  I used my new Background Basics Art Deco in Soft Stone and Spring Moss for the background.  That stamp is really easy to line up.

Well, that's it for me today.
