Weekend Recap

I hope everyone had a very nice weekend.  We are finally getting some rain here, and it is hard to complain, since we need it so badly.

I have a Mother's Day card that I made using some Poppy Stamps dies--Small Madison Window and Small Flower Box.  I used my new Bitty Bouquets stamps from PTI and fussy cut them, since the dies were out of stock when I ordered.  It was not that difficult--perhaps I can just live without those dies.  I used a piece of Bitty Dot Vellum behind the window, thanks to Marybeth for that idea.

I am entering this card into the Poppystamps Challenge #6 Through My Window and Addicted to Stamps Holiday.

Inspired again my Marybeth, I made a card for this week's Tag You're It Challenge, where our inspiration is this beautiful card by Marybeth.  I decided to use Frilly Flowers for my tag, since it was Marybeth who inspired me to buy those stamps.  I used a Basic Bookmark die for my tag, and then turned it into a card.

My colors for this card are inspired by Color Throwdown  #331.

I have not played at Fusion in a long time, but when I saw their inspiration this week, I had an idea for a baby card.  I used the Dainty Bow die by Mama Elephant, but only used on part of it, so my bows look more like bow ties.

Last up is a masculine birthday card using a die from Impression Obsession and some Small Sketched Stars.  The paper is from a Studio Calico pad I found at TJ Maxx--yes I have picked up some fun craft supplies there.

I am entering this card a CAS(E) this Sketch #112 and Seize the Birthday where I am finally playing along with the topping (masculine card).

I am also entering these cards over at Simon Says Monday No Rules and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

Weekend Recap

Happy Sunday.  I hope everyone had a very nice Valentine's Day.  I am posting 4 cards I made over the course of the weekend.

First up might just be my favorite, but I'm not sure.  I was inspired by this beautiful inspiration card at Time Out.  I made a pretty literal CASE because I could not see any possible way to improve on this card.  My twist is to have a black card front, underneath my white diagonal stripes.

I am entering this card at Time Out #24, Lil Inker Designs Monthly Meetup Challenge, Colour Me #58, and Simon Says Monday Challenge Red & Pink.

I was inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #110 for my next card.  I masked the flower to stamp the leaves, so I am also linking up at Addicted to CAS where the challenge is MASK.

I am also linking up at A Blog Names Hero Small Scale, as I kept my stamping to a small section of my card.

I finally used one of my new Simon Says Stamp dies--Mod Circle Frame--and made a birthday card using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown #329.  I am also linking up at Addicted to Stamps #131 Anything Goes and Seize the Birthday (without toppings).

Last up is a valentine to put away until next year.  I like to have valentines that are not too lovey dovey and more appropriate to send to friends.  I used a die of hearts set in the shape of a heart, and I stamped some newsprint underneath and randomly filled some of the open hearts with red.  The die cut word is from Wet Paint Cuts.

I am linking this one up at ColourQ #279.

Well, that's it for me for today.  I've got to get my big mess all cleaned up to make room for some new goodies I plan to order tonight when PTI's February release goes live.

Monday Recap

Hello and happy Monday.  I'm here posting a few things I started yesterday and finished today.

I just love my new Stamplorations Houses stamps.  I broke them out for the first time and embossed them in white on colored card stock.  They were really easy to fussy cut.  I added a grass die cut and adhered everything onto a white card front embossed with a Sunrise impression plate.  I used the Stamplorations sketch rotated 90 degrees.

I am entering this card at Color Throwdown #326Stamplorations January Stamps and InkStamplorations Sketch Challenge #26 and Stamplorations Anything Goes Challenge.

This card seemed doomed from the start.  It is so very simple, but I won't say how many tries ended up in the scrap heap because of irregular or uneven stamping, crooked stamping, ink smudges, etc. And, it looks like it should be a 5 minute card, which it would have been if it wasn't for a string of silly mistakes.  To top it off, it was meant for Merry Monday, and I missed the deadline.  The good news is that the card finally worked just as I wanted, and I can link it up at Christmas Card Challenges #8 Anything Goes and Addicted to Stamps Holiday.

Have you ever sat down to peruse your favorite blogs, caught sight of something inspiring and had to stop it all to make a card right then and there?  Well, that happened to me twice yesterday.

First time--I was on Michelle's blog, I Card Everyone, spotted this card for Inkspirational Challenges #74, and had to make something of my own.  She totally got me with the paint chips and triangles, and this is what I made:

After that, I happened upon the winners post at The Paper Players and this stunning card by Kylie that was crowned winner last week.  I immediately grabbed the nearest piece of patterned paper sitting on my desk and made this:

It was truly a 5 minute card, and I think I'll make some more some time--it's a great design to showcase/use up patterned paper and build up a nice birthday card stash in a hurry.  I'm entering this card at this week's Seize the Birthday--no toppings.

My Crafty Friday

I am learning to absolutely love carpool days!  I had time to go to the gym in the morning, and then play in my craft room for most of the day--then my daughters were delivered to my door.  Love that.

I used the Brevilla Houses die from Poppy Stamps to cut a whole bunch of little houses in colors inspired by this week's Color Throwdown #309 to make an entire neighborhood on my card.  I bought this die several months ago, and it has been sitting patiently waiting it's turn at the Big Shot--now it is the NBUS for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #2.  I am also entering this card at Catherine Pooler's Housewarming Party.

I have to say that this card came out just as I had imagined it when I thought it up in spin class, and I am very happy with how it looks.

I loved this color scheme so much, I made a second card with it.  I am entering this card at Seize the Birthday, where the toppings option is Sweet Treats.  There is a tiny little birthday card on my focal point.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday to Make Your Own Background.

I've got three cards for the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  The first card is also for Colour Me #37.  I need to build up my stash of pet sympathy cards, and was inspired by this card by Laura Bassen.  I used Dog Icons dies by Paper Smooches and a sentiment from PTI Pet Sympathy.

I made another similar card using a paw print stamp from Paper Smooches Paws for a Cause and another sentiment from Pet Sympathy.  The ink is NBUS WPlus9 Lake House.

Last up, and my third card for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is a card for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  The tree is the All Seasons Tree from SSS and the sentiment is Paper Smooches Kibitzing Sampler.  I stamped and cut a tiny apple from one of the PTI Tag it's sets, and coated it with Glossy Accents.

If you are interested to see previous Rosh Hashanah posts, please click here.  I think I will be making a small batch of this particular card to send out for Rosh Hashanah, which is on September 25th this year.

I will be entering cards #2 and #4 at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Stamptember, because those cards have the most stamping.

That's it for me today.  Not sure what is up for this weekend, but I am hoping for some crafty time at some point.
