CASE-ing My Friends

I am popping in ever so quickly to share 2 cards I made yesterday.  They were so quick to make because they are both CASEs of cards I saw while visiting my blogging friends yesterday.

This first card is CASEd from Bobby--I just fell in love with her faux quilting card and had to make my own.  I used the Building Blocks die to cut some sheets from a Recollections Valentine pad that was sitting around, and laid it out just like Bobby did.  According to Bobby's description, this is a rail fence pattern.  So, I learned something about quilts yesterday, too.  After gluing down all my strips, I ran it through the Circles and Diamonds Lil Inker Cover Plate to give it a quilted texture.  I cannot wait to make more of these.  It was a really fun (and easy) card to make.

My second card is a CASE of Kim from Cupcakes, Cards & Kim.  I often CASE Kim, but usually not so soon after she posts her card.  But, what can I say except that I was immediately inspired, and I also needed to replenish my sympathy stash.  I went monochrome with this one--I think it sets the right tone for this card, using Kraft ink and paper along with Rustic Cream paper.

Card Drives (Part 1)

Hello.  It is almost the weekend here.  Yay.  I must warn you that I am posting a lot of cards today.  I've been on a tear, making cards for various card drives.  Are you ready?

I will start with 4 cards that I am linking up to the Pink Christmas challenge at Jingle Belles.   They are donating $4 to the Susan G. Koman Foundation for every card linked up.  And, then I am sending these cards along to the Caring Hearts card drive.

I followed the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch and was inspired by Kristi's card for my first two cards.

I made a bunch of cards using this sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping #311.

All the rest of my cards are for various challenges at Splitcoast Stampers Hope You Can Cling To, and I will be sending them to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

This card plays along with the current challenge at Tag You're It #8 and the Something's Missing challenge at HYCCT.  On this card, the stamped background sentiment letters are missing color inside.  I wanted to show that something could be very pretty and still be missing something.  The background stamping Kim did on this card was my inspiration.

These next two cards may look the same, but can you spot the difference?  I switched around the order of the ice cream colors, since I had to run the die through 5 times, once for each color.  Yes, if you are a regular reader, you will eventually see these ice creams on 5 different cards.  One is for the Spoonful of Sugar challenge and the other is for the Two by Two challenge to use pink and purple together.

The next 10 cards are for the Stripping Down challenge to use strips of paper.  I used the sketch above from Clean and Simple Stamping and really had a good time digging through my pattern papers to make these cards.  And, while they all follow the same basic sketch, they are all different in some way.  Here goes:

.

Well, that's it for me today.  I have a bunch more half finished that I will work on and post over the weekend.

5 Cards

It seems like forever since I've been able to play along with Muse, so I was happy to have some time and an idea for this week's challenge.  I fell in love with the inspiration card.

Muse card byTherese Calvird

I was inspired by all those vividly colored cupcakes all snuggled up together.  I knew I wanted to something that involved masking and coloring.  I decided to use the paintbrush image from Friendship Jar Fillers, and I stamped and masked it repeatedly across the bottom of my card, and then colored just the paint part with Copics and then Wink of Stella.

My next card is for this week's ColourQ cQc #224 challenge.  I used a layout that I see Deanna use a lot, and I have always loved.  I don't have all of these colors--I had to substitute Soft Sky for Pool Party, and PTI Pure Poppy for Poppy Parade.  I stamped my flowers and leaves in Versamark and heat embossed in clear.  I stamped my Soft Sky background strip with Soft Sky ink on Soft Sky paper.

I made these next three cards yesterday.  I am trying to convince myself that I don't need to order any PTI from this month's release.  If I can restrain myself, it will be the first month in about 3 years that I don't order on the 15th.  I thought I would CASE a couple of the DT samples to prove to myself that I don't need these new stamps.  Wish me luck.

This card was cased from this card of Nicole's--6th one down.  I used Strawberry Slush and Tempting Turquoise because I was planning on entering this card at Colour Me!, but I missed the deadline.

This card was cased from this card of Nicole's--2nd one down.  I used the colors from Color Throwdown, but missed that deadline, too.  Oh well.  They are nice colors and not ones I would have thought to use together.  I made my own argyle pattern using a diamond from Happy Harlequins and (horrors!) drew the dotted lines myself with a fine marker.  The frame is from Mat Stack #2, a set I have not pulled out in forever.

This last card is cased from this card by Lizzie--3rd one down.  I think it may just be my favorite of all I am posting today.  The sentiment and images are from Chair-ished--an older set I bought at a real bargain price a while back on the forum, but never even looked at.  When I saw Lizzie's card, I was dumbfounded to realize that I had almost everything I needed to replicate her card.  I added the tiny hearts (from the butterfly die in Love Lives Here) and will use this card to send to my daughter (from our dog) when she is away next summer.

Well, that's it for me today.  On the 'to do' list is to pay more attention to the ending dates of the challenges I am planning to enter.  Oh, and to resist buying any more PTI stamps, at least for the next few days.

Yay--Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Anything Goes, so I will be able to enter these cards in a challenge after all.

Natural Beauties Card Set

I made a card set over the last few days, using Natural Beauties and Simple Sentiments stamps.  I cased myself from this design here, which was originally cased from Maile Belles.

I will be entering the 'thank you' card from this set into this week's Simon Says Monday challenge for Thanks/Thanksgiving.

Summer Sunrise/Orange Zest    Memento Angel Pink/Scarlet Jewel

And, I will enter this pair into this week's Simon Says Wednesday Challenge to use ink.

Aqua Mist/Hawaiian Shores    Memento Angel Pink/Hibiscus Burst

SU Baja Breeze/Pacific Point    Winter Wisteria/Royal Velvet

Each card has a die cut from the Wine Bottle Die that is stamped and then embossed with the Stitching Impression Plate.  The sentiment on each card is stamped onto a Double Ended Banner die cut.  I used the zig zag die for the tops of all the cards.

Odds and Ends

Hi there.  Today I was able to get quite a bit of crafting done, between my spin class and my crazy afternoon driving around.

I made another card for this week's Retro Sketches #46.  I had a piece of stamped paper left over from this Make it Monday project that I really wanted to use, and I also was curious to see how that dutch oven from Foodie Fun would look embossed with UTEE.

I also made a few smaller cards and decorated envelopes with Washi Tape for this week's Simon Says Challenge, which is to use washi tape.  I am going to enter the envelopes into this week's Make it Monday #100, which is all about how to package cards with oversized embellishments.  I am stretching a bit, as these are undersized, but I think the principles are the same.

These might look familiar to you.  They are designed to accompany these card sets, that I made for Rachel to give to two of her teachers.
