The 12 Kits of Occasions: August 2013

Well, it's that time of the month again, and I am here to share some holiday cards with my 12 Kits of Occasions August post.  This month, Amy is our hostess, and our theme is Christmas.  Here is a picture of the kit Amy sent.

I just love the color scheme we had this month--very traditional and also rustic--with lots of brown and kraft thrown in with the red and green.

I am submitting my last project (the bookmark) to this week's CASology challenge--BOOK.

That's it for me.  A big thank you to Amy for assembling this month's festive kit.  Please head over to Amy's blog for a complete supply list.  And, don't forget to visit the other participants in our 12 Kits group:

Joyce (that's me)

Oh, one more thing--please check out our new blog--The 12 Kits of Occasions.  It is a great way to see everyone's favorite project and all the links to the other gals.  This month, Amy is providing a Verve Gift Certificate to one lucky commenter on this blog.  So, please head on over there and try for a chance to win.

Waltzingmouse August 2013 Pajama Party

I am so happy to be playing for the first time in the Waltzingmouse Pajama Party.  I missed the first one when I was on vacation.  I even bought the stamps we are supposed to feature, so I am all set.  I'll jump right in, because it's getting late here, and I am tired.

Challenge #1:  Tie a Knot in it and Challenge #2:  Get Nauty--I have made several cards and projects that use Tying the Knot and Ocean bound together, so I will enter them all into both challenges and see if I get lucky.  You will see that I pulled out some colors and liked them so much I just stuck with them for a while--SU Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, and Baked Brown Sugar.

I made these little treat totes for the gals who came to my house for Stamp a Faire last weekend.  I filled them with Hershey's Kisses.

Here is a little peek at the other side of the totes (but don't look too hard, because this side has WPlus9 and no Waltzingmouse...)  Can you see one for Kim, Marybeth and Cathy?

The next challenge is a Color Inspiration challenge, and I used Tying the Knot.

Golden Oldies:  My very first Waltzingmouse stamp set was Eat Cake.  My friends Renee and Cathy were all over me to buy some Waltzingmouse stamps.  They even sent me stamped images so I could start playing along in the weekly challenges.  Gotta love friends like that, right?

I love Eat Cake as much now as I did when I bought it 2 years ago.  It has my very favorite birthday sentiment--which I used on today's card.

Well, this is the part of the pajama party where I yawn and hit the sack,  so that's it for me.  Let me know if you have any questions about supplies--I'm too tired out to write them all out.  I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else has done.

Tuesday Trigger and Simon Says

This week's Moxie Fab trigger is ombre, and when I saw that stack of cakes, I knew just want I wanted to do.  I rounded up all my blue inks to make a baby card for a baby boy, using those cute little cookies from Avery Elle.  I used Ranger White Enamel Accents for the cream fillings.

I used words from three different PTI sets to form my sentiment--'welcome' is from Wreath for All Seasons, 'sweet' is from Piece of Cake, and 'baby' is from Mixed Messages.  I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Avery Elle Bonjour, Wreath for All Seasons, Piece of Cake, Mixed Messages
Paper:  White
Ink:  Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, SU Brilliant Blue, Night of Navy, Versafine Onyx Black
Other:  Avery Elle Bonjour Die, Ranger White Enamel Accents

ColourQ 204, CAS(E) this Sketch 42, Dynamic Duos 67 and Simon Wednesday Challenges

I finally have a bit of time to get back to some of my favorite challenges, and I have two cards to share today.  This first card is for this week's ColourQ cQc 204 and CAS(E) this Sketch CTS42.  I broke out one of my new PTI sets--Bubble Talk stamps and dies for this card.  I used a negative cut for the largest speech bubble and raised the smallest speech bubble with dimensionals.  It's hard to see in this picture, but the littlest heart is covered with glossy accents.

My next card is for this week's Dynamic Duos DD #67.  I was very happy that I had the right ink and paper, as my friend Jeanne has been helping me build up my stash of SU colors.  I used that inking technique where you cover the stamp in the lightest color and then roll the edges in the darker color for my flowers on this card.

This week's challenge at SimonSays Wednesday Challenge is Anything Goes, and I will be entering both of these cards there as well.

Supplies Used (PTI):

You're Super
Stamps:  Bubble Talk
Paper:  White
Ink:  Limeade Ice, Plum Pudding, SU Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral
Other:  Bubble Talk Dies, Aida Impression Plate, Sequins

Feel Better Soon
Stamps:  Mums The Word, Asian Fusion
Paper:  White, SU Crisp Cantaloupe
Ink:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Versafine Onyx Black
Other:  Memory Box Piestra Tile Die, Mums the Word Dies, Woodgrain IP, Sequins

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2013

What a wonderful past few days I have had.  I was fortunate enough to convince 3 of my blogging besties to make the trek to my home in San Diego for a little bit of crafting and a whole lot of laughing and friendship.

Kim was first to arrive--she flew down on Friday afternoon.  We picked up my daughter from her art class and went to lunch.

Rachel and Kim

First order of business was to break out some of my newest PTI goodies to make a quick card.  We both cased this card from Jess Witty.

My card is the one on the right.

After our crafty time, we walked down to the beach and had our picture taken.

The walk took a while, because we brought Sherlock, my new puppy with us.  He is 6 months old, and likes to stop and smell the roses--and everything else, too.

The next morning, Cathy and Marybeth arrived.  Of course, everyone arrived bearing crafty gifts.  I did not take pictures because I didn't think of it, and I immediately tore everything apart.  Here is one bit of what I made for my guests.  You will see the other side of these in a few days at the Waltzingmouse Pajama Party.

We all decided to case this card of Tracey's for our first challenge--the Bake n Take.

The one on the far left is mine.

We made a bit of a mess, but had a great time.  I commandeered my daughter's playroom for us.  I made 4 cards yesterday--we did way more chatting and laughing than crafting.

I made two cards for the Gallon, Quart, Pint challenge.  My first card used Watercolor Wonder.

Marybeth brought her new coffee set, and we played with that one for a while.  It was fun to use a set I didn't get.

I confess that after watching the salt tutorial, we kind of went off script for the rest of the afternoon, and just did our own thing.

I was trying to convince Tracey to come and join us, but Toronto is just too far away.  She was able to join us for a good part of the day by Face Time--I just love how technology is making the world seem just a little smaller.  Maybe next year.

I made one more card using a new 6X6 pad that Cathy brought me and a sketch from the first challenge.

And, here we all are at the end of the day.  My daughter lined us up in size order and took our final picture.

The California Girls

What a fun day.  I am so lucky to have met such nice women in our on-line crafting community.  I am already counting the days until Stamp A Faire 2014.

PTI August 2013 Blog Hop

Good morning.  Are you as exhausted as I am?  As I type this up on Saturday night, I am thinking about the fabulous day I had with Kim, Cathy, and Marybeth who all came over to play with me during Stamp A Faire.  I will make a separate post about that later, along with pictures and details of our day.

For now, just a quick post of some cards I made earlier in the week for the Papertrey Blog Hop.

I flipped the sketch and changed it just a bit for this card using Sketched Shapes.

Those cake layers made me think of the Rainbow Stripes dies.

That's it for me for now.  Enjoy the hop, and come back later when I have my Stamp a Faire stuff posted.
