Sunday Night Wrap Up

I am writing this post at the end of a very busy and crafty weekend.  It seemed like I was not doing much more than drive my kids around this weekend, but I must have been home a lot too, because I have quite a few cards to post today.

My first two cards are inspired by this design at Festive Friday #42 and they will be donated to this year's Caring Hearts card drive.  I am hoping to make lots of Christmas cards in the next few months to donate to this worthy cause.

This first card is also inspired by the sketch at this week's CAS(E) this Sketch, and I rotated the sketch 90 degrees when I saw this card by Maureen in the gallery.  I did a bunch of stamping and masking, and then decided to cut out and pop up the two candy circles in front.  I was inspired by the red and white in the photo.

The pine cones and branches tied around the chairs inspired this next card.

I have another card for this week's ColourQ and it is going to the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling to challenge (Shine On HYCCT1401B).

This next card is going to the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling to challenge (Spoonful of Sugar HYCCT1407) and I followed a rotated version of this week's RetroSketches rs #136 challenge.  Just a head's up--I had to cut this ice cream die 5 times to get all the different colors of ice cream, and I do hate to waste die cuts, so you will be seeing this line up 4 more times on different cards with the flavors mixed up.

My last card for today uses the colors from Colour Me Striking and I will enter it at Seize the Birthday Anything Goes and Simon Says Monday Falling in love with...(my new IO die).  I made it a masculine birthday card because that is what I thought it looked like. I used a new die from Impression Obsession--I ran three colors through the die after cutting my card front, and it really was not that hard to fill in all the spaces with the different colors.

I am going to enter my 2nd, 3rd and 5th cards over at Virginia's View Challenge #8 Clean and Simple.

That's it for me today.  Believe it or not, I have more cards, but I am going to post them later on in the week.

New Look! New Cards!

Hello and happy Thursday.  Today is my oldest daughter's birthday--she turned 17 and I honestly do not know where the years have gone.  I've baked and decorated cupcakes (they never outgrow cupcakes, do they?), and will be leaving soon to take her and a bunch of friends to play Laser Tag.  She loves origami, so I snitched a bit of her origami paper to make this birthday card.  I am linking this card up at Simon Says Monday challenge--fall in love with...paper piecing.

And, in other news, what do you think of the new look on my blog?  I don't know why I waited so long to take the plunge and make a change.  I bought a template from a gal on Etsy, and I can't say enough to recommend her--everything was so smooth and easy.

I used this week's ColourQ colors to make this card, which plays along with the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling to challenge (Shine On HYCCT1401B).

My last card is a CASE of this card by Donna and I used the no line watercoloring technique taught here by Tasnim.  As you can obviously see, I did not get the 'no line' part right, but I had fun learning and trying this technique.  I am entering this card at Virginia's View Challenge #8 and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge to use water colors.

CASology Week 93: Electric

It's time for another CASology challenge, and our cue word this week is ELECTRIC.  Fun, right?  I have enjoyed pulling out favorite older stamps that haven't seen much ink recently for my CASology cards, so today I pulled out Lighten Up and Chair-ished from PTI.  The cue word of ELECTRIC made me think of things that plug in, so I thought of a lamp.

How about you?  What do you think of when you see the word ELECTRIC?    Have some fun with this cue word, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday 5/5 at noon (CST).

I stamped a little scene using a chair, dog, and floor from Chair-ished, and a floor lamp from Lighten Up.  I sponged some Lemon Tart ink around the lamp shade--showing a warm glow from a lamp turned on.  In person, the yellow inked area is barely visible, but in the photo it is quite bright.

Since CASology is a Clean And Simple challenge, I thought it would be helpful to review some things to keep in mind when creating a CAS design:

1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)
3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

You can see that my card meets all 4 criteria above.

So, what do you think of when you see the word ELECTRIC?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by ELECTRIC.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Monday 5/5 at noon (CST).

Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

Shine

I meant to use my new Heart 2 Heart set for this week's ColourQ CQC#141 and Retrosketches RS#15, but I ended up grabbing Lighten Up instead.  Don't ask why, and I will try to use my Heart 2 Heart tomorrow.  These would be good colors for a Father's Day card, but I am all set for this year, so I just made something for fun.  I interpreted these colors as Simply Chartreuse, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Lighten Up, Background Basics Medallions, Hero Arts Envelope
Paper:  Enchanged Evening, Spring Rain, White
Ink:  Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky, Simply Chartreuse
Other:  Mega Mat Stack 1, Spiral Notebook Die, Lighten Up Die, Sunshine IP, Twine, Rhinestone

Thank You Cards

Here are some of the the thank you cards I made after my recent birthday.

This first card is a CASE of this card by Melissa Bickford.  I think it is the card that sold me on the Lighten Up set.

This next card uses this week's Retro Sketch #10,  and a brand new Spellbinders Edgeabilities die--thanks Cathy.
