Time Out #200...Wanna Play

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by the word or idea PRECIOUS.  I thought of what is precious to me that I could make into a card that I could send to someone.  Of course--my dog!  He is so precious to me, and I have so many friends and family members who also love their dogs, so this one was pretty easy for me.

I used sponsor stamps PetsHousesHouses Extra (some of my most favorite Stamplorations creations) to set my little neighborhood scene, with the dog front and center.  I just love the whimsical, sketchy style of these stamps, and tried to color a bit whimsically to match.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Kinjal Trivedi of My Mind Paper  and the Time Out Design Team.  Stamplorations is our sponsor for this challenge. Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

The Time Out Challenge is having a Design Team call!!  All the details are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.  Perhaps it is TIME for you to join our fun team.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Thanks, Hope, and Thinking

Hello there.  I have three cards to post today.  First up is a card with lots of fussy cutting.  When I first started making cards, I never cut anything--it seemed like way too much work.  Now, fussy cutting is one of my favorite things to do--I find it strangely relaxing.

I pulled out a couple of old stamp sets for this card--the flowers are from Friendship Jar Fillers and they seemed the perfect image to water color with Distress Inks and then fussy cut out, just like Ashley showed us in this week's Make it Monday #212:  Fussy Cutting Tips.  I have had this set for ages, and I don't think I have ever used these flowers (shame on me).  I also fussy cut the sentiment, from Script Sentiments, after stamping and heat embossing in white on Basic Grey paper.  I cut a slit into the jar lid and threaded my flower stems through it, to make the scene look a little more realistic. It's hard to see in this picture, but the flowers are liberally coated with WOS and lots of Stickles.  I adhered everything to a card front that I impressed with PTI Book Print Impression plate, another oldie but goodie.

I am also entering this card at Paper Players #245 (CAS Girly Thanks), Simon Says Monday XYZ (yellow flowers), The Challenge #35 and Retro Rubber #14 May Flowers.

I used the bright colors from ColourQ #292 and a couple of Paper Smooches stamp sets to create the little scene on this card, which I am entering at Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes.  All my coloring was done with Copics, and I also colored the white scallop frame with the same Copic I used on the card so it would match.  Both frame dies are from the PTI Shakers and Sprinkles kit, which I had completely forgotten about.  Expect to see more with the dies from that set in the future.

My last card uses the sketch at Stamplorations Sketch Challenge #34.  I was determined to use my Bees Knees houses for this challenge, so changed the orientation and used some faintly stamped houses for some of the smaller butterfly elements.

I used the color scheme from Sunday Stamps 101, coloring the main house as well as the die cut Ribbon Candy Border with various Copic markers.  I am also linking this up to the Stamplorations Anything Goes challenge, as it does feature Stamplorations products front and center.

Monday Recap

Hello and happy Monday.  I'm here posting a few things I started yesterday and finished today.

I just love my new Stamplorations Houses stamps.  I broke them out for the first time and embossed them in white on colored card stock.  They were really easy to fussy cut.  I added a grass die cut and adhered everything onto a white card front embossed with a Sunrise impression plate.  I used the Stamplorations sketch rotated 90 degrees.

I am entering this card at Color Throwdown #326Stamplorations January Stamps and InkStamplorations Sketch Challenge #26 and Stamplorations Anything Goes Challenge.

This card seemed doomed from the start.  It is so very simple, but I won't say how many tries ended up in the scrap heap because of irregular or uneven stamping, crooked stamping, ink smudges, etc. And, it looks like it should be a 5 minute card, which it would have been if it wasn't for a string of silly mistakes.  To top it off, it was meant for Merry Monday, and I missed the deadline.  The good news is that the card finally worked just as I wanted, and I can link it up at Christmas Card Challenges #8 Anything Goes and Addicted to Stamps Holiday.

Have you ever sat down to peruse your favorite blogs, caught sight of something inspiring and had to stop it all to make a card right then and there?  Well, that happened to me twice yesterday.

First time--I was on Michelle's blog, I Card Everyone, spotted this card for Inkspirational Challenges #74, and had to make something of my own.  She totally got me with the paint chips and triangles, and this is what I made:

After that, I happened upon the winners post at The Paper Players and this stunning card by Kylie that was crowned winner last week.  I immediately grabbed the nearest piece of patterned paper sitting on my desk and made this:

It was truly a 5 minute card, and I think I'll make some more some time--it's a great design to showcase/use up patterned paper and build up a nice birthday card stash in a hurry.  I'm entering this card at this week's Seize the Birthday--no toppings.
