Saturday Update

Hello and happy Saturday.  My first card is a shaker baby card for Paper Smooches Anything Goes and CAS(E) This Sketch #105.  I'm also playing along at Simon Says Monday Old (Paper Smooches A Little Lovin) and New (Silver Micro Beads) and Simon Says Wednesday New.   I paper pieced the elephants and used the die from PTI Sending You to create my window.

This is my second time this month playing at Stamplorations--this time in their January Stamps and Inks challenge.  I used Tree Silhouettes and CASED this beautiful card by Sharron.  I tried to copy Sharron's water coloring, and I think I still need a bit more practice.

One more entry at Make it Monday #196:  Colorful Card Corners.  I just could not resist making this card again, this time in purple.

I did something a little different this time--I have seen stamping that continues on to the back side of the card, and decided to try that also.  I am in love with the stamp Kim bought for me to use on the backs of my cards.

Last up is a get well card I made using the colors at this week's ColourQ cQc #274.  I used the Leaf Pattern Cover Up die by Lil Inker--cut it 4 times in 4 different colors and then pieced the leaves back in.  Not sure I'd do that again...

That's it for me today.

Thanks for Visiting

  1. So many beautiful cards Joyce...but that sweet mama and baby elephant are just so adorable! I love the patterned paper you used, so sweet with the embossed background. Your mother's day card is so pretty too, love the purple posies. Your get well card is sure to make anyone feel better, love the gorgeous colors and your trees, breath taking. You have been a very busy lady.

  4. Amazing! I love how each card uses different techniques and different colors. I love the look if pieced cover plates, but I don't think I'd have the patience to do what you've done. PS my husband and I both lived your "ish" comment...cracked us up.

  6. Sweet baby card, Joyce ... the textured panel reminds me of a soft cosy blanket ... and those micro beads are fantastic! I almost got that tree stamp set the other day (a blog hop win!) but chose something else ... now I wish I'd left it in my basket! The dark silhouettes are wonderful against the subtle watercolouring! Loved the first floral corner card, and this is equally gorgeous, perhaps even more so with the design taken onto the back! What a sweetie Kim is, this is such a cool personalised stamp! Oh my, such patience with that leaf cover plate ... so worth the effort, it's just lovely ... a perfect pick me up! Anita :)

  10. Gorgeous cards. Absolutely love the baby card. The color is so striking. Great background with the impression. Love love love how you did the back of the card. Never have done that before. But the stamp is definitely priceless. The inlay card is beautiful too. Have been seeing a lot of in lay cards lately. That must be trending.

  12. Love the elephants, Joyce--so cuddly and sweet. The papers work great! Your trees came out great too and your watercoloring looks fantastic. I can understand why you would want another MIM card. That's such a great stamp set and wonderful design. I've done piecing with cover up plates a couple of times but agree that it's pretty time-consuming. Definitely not something one would want to do very often!

  14. Each one of these cards are terrific in their own way, Joyce. You have used so many different techniques that I'm envious of your creative brain. The baby card is so cute and making it a shaker just popped it up a notch. Love the trees with the watercolored background. I find myself being drawn to these kind of cards so you may see some on my blog in the future. The coverplate design is lovely but I am most enamored of the sentiment. Who makes that?

  16. I can imagine how long the die cutting took in the last card Joyce - so worth it though! Your baby card is just adorable..lovely to see it in green rather than traditional pink or blue! Thanks for playing along at Colour Q this week!

  21. Love the green paper pieced elephants! So much fun. I really need to make a shaker card or two. They are so much simpler nowadays than when I learned with foam cord board that was impossible to cut (and thick to boot). Love the bold graphic feel of the mother's day card and that you continued the stamping onto the back--very snazzy. I laughed at the die cut inlay card. I only ever do those really difficult ones myself. I must be a glutton for punishment! Your came out totally awesome though--worth the work!

I will say that I LOVE your take on my sketch, it worked SO well. :-) But all of the other cards are so awesome, too! I love that stamp for the back of your cards, it's perfect!
