CASology Week #85

It's time for a new CASology challenge.  This week, our cue word is CARNIVAL.  Can you think of anything more fun than a carnival?  What do you think of when you see the word CARNIVAL?  The rides, the tickets, the food, the fun?  Have some fun with this cue word, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Sunday, March 9 by 4PM (CST).

When my oldest daughter was very young, she was obsessed with merry go rounds.  She had a favorite one, at Seaport Village, but we would find them everywhere.  I decided to take a little walk down memory lane with this cue word, and used my Lawn Fawn Admit One set to create a colorful merry go round.

I have been into paper piecing lately.  It's a great way to add color, pattern, and interest while still keeping a card CAS.  Plus, I find the fussy cutting strangely relaxing.  On this card, I cut a circle out of my front panel with my Lil Inker Stitched Circle die, (love these dies--especially because I get the stitching on both sides of the circle), and then popped that panel up using foam tape  I stamped my image right inside that circle, and then stamped it a few more times on various papers from Pebbles Sunnyside.  I coated my horses with a liberal dose of bling using Wink of Stella.

I debated where to put my sentiment, and finally decided to stamp it repeatedly up the opposite side of the card front.  A small strip of striped paper along the left side balances everything out, and adds a bit of color.  A tip I remember from the on-line Pattern Play class was to use a thin strip of the striped pattern sheet that is usually in every 6X6 pad.  It is a great way to bring everything together.

So, what do you think of when you see the word CARNIVAL?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by CARNIVAL.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Sunday, March 9 by 4PM (CST).

How will you be inspired by CARNIVAL?

I am also entering this card at Lawnscaping #77 this week, where their challenge is 'Bling it', and I have tricked out my merry go round horses in glittery Wink of Stella.

Thanks for Visiting

  12. This is just darling. I love the colors and the papers and the placement of the sentiment. There used to be two merry-go-rounds within 50 miles of where I live. Alas, they've both moved on to other places. So sad.

  23. Joyce, I am beginning to think we are kindred spirits...I think I used very similar patterned papers and fussy cut because I also find it strangely relaxing! I adore your paper-pieced merry-go-round...so sweet! (My daughter called it the "ferris-go-wheel" when she was little...still makes me smile!)
