Guest Designer....Tag You're It! #69...Never Give Up

Hello and happy Friday.  I am so pleased to be posting today as a Guest Designer at Tag You're It #69. Here is the tag I made for your inspiration.

There is actually a story behind this tag.  Remember the Woman's March in January 2017.  Here is a picture, in case you missed it.

Millions of women marching, many wearing a knitted pink pussy cat hat.  Like this one:

For months now, I have been knitting pink hats, first giving them to family and friends, and then selling them to raise money for refugees.

Of course, I had to package my hats in a cute and creative way.  I rolled them up, put then in a clear cello bag, labeled with a pompom of matching yarn and my tag.

Knitting all these hats has definitely been a stress reducer, as I have found the last 70 or so days to be very stressful.  And, the extra effort to package them in a cute way has definitely been appreciated.

I used a cat stamp from Technique Tuesday and a sentiment from CASual Fridays Hope Ribbon for my sentiment.

I am also entering this tag at Addicted to Stamps and More #236: Anything Goes.

Happy Little Stampers Case The Designer September 2016...Happy Birthday

Hello and happy September.  I'm here to post a card for Happy Little Stampers Case the Designer challenge.

Our inspiration this month is provided by Åsa.  Take a look at this gorgeous inspiration card.

I was inspired by Asa's colored bird, her theme of happy birthday with a big 'happy' and also the focal point on a die cut circle.

I used my Technique Tuesday Chickadees, lightly colored with Copics.  I die cut a stitched circle, and then inlaid it back into the card front, after popping up the card front with foam tape.  I wanted a little bit of added dimension to the card.

Our challenge will run for the entire month of September.  I hope you will play along.  Please head over to the Happy Little Stampers Case the Designers blog to see more inspiration from the rest of the design team.

My Crafty Weekend

Hello.  We had a rainy and windy weekend here, and I was able to escape the weather in my craft room.  Sorry that this is my third post of the day, but some challenges are ending soon, so I need to post.

To start with, I have several cards I made with a new Simon Says Stamp die I recently bought.

CASing myself (this card), I cut the die out of pure poppy paper and fussy cut a sentiment to pop up on top.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Monday Love is in the Air + Use Red and Addicted to CAS #80 Red.

Next, I tried masking and sponging the different parts of the die and curving the sentiment around the side of the heart.  I was inspired by this card from Marybeth.

I tilted the heart a bit to the right.

I am entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #178 Holiday.

I made another version where I used Copics to color the die cut and also kept the heart straight up and down.

I am entering this card at AAA Cards #57 Love.

Here they are side by side.  Do you have a preference?

This week's Muse #150 card is so pretty, and I am glad I had time to play along.

Muse inspiration card

I was inspired by Jenni's design, the flower, the sentiment in white on black and the background text and sponging.

I used an image from Technique Tuesday, fussy cut and colored with color pencils.  My center panel is die cut, embossed with a text impression plate, sponged with Distress Iced Spruce ink and then inlaid into the card front.

I am also entering this card at Just Us Girls #328 Wildcard Week, and I am using the middle column (die cuts; stamps; flowers).

My next card is inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #221.

I used the Stitched Die cover plate and Graceful Greetings, both from PTI.

My next card is also inspired by a sketch, this one from CAS Colours & Sketches #158.

I used some ombre paper and the Butterfly Cover plate die from PTI.  My sentiment is from PTI Beautiful Butterflies.

I would also like to thank the team at CAS Colours & Sketches for selecting this card of mine as one of the winners for their challenge #155.

I used the remainder of the ombre paper to make another butterfly card--this time not adhering the die cut at an angle.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

Jennifer McGuire is hosting a card drive to comfort mothers who have lost a child.  I will be sending all of these cards (except the two Valentines) to her for this drive.  You might have noticed that all the sentiments are appropriate for someone in need of comfort.  This card drive is going on through the end of February, so you have plenty of time if you would like to participate as well.

Well, that's all for me today.

Hello

I have a quick post today with a card that uses the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #168.  I had been meaning to play all week, and now I am sneaking in right before the deadline.  I used Technique Tuesday Chickadees, NBUS from months ago.

Do you have something in your stash you have never used?  If so, go play at Darnell's NBUS challenge.  (I'm not linking this card up because I would be over the limit, but YOU can still play!)

I realized I never posted the picture of when I met Cathy for coffee on Thursday.  It was so much fun to visit and catch up.  Click here to read about our 'first date'.

Thanks and Birthday Cards

Good morning and happy Saturday.  I am so glad it is the weekend.  I made another card for this week's Make it Monday #158: Stamping with Watercolor Mediums.

I used Frilly Flowers and three colors of Distress Inks--Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint.  First I inked up the stamp, then I spritzed it with water, then I stamped the paper.  I used normal white card stock and did not get any warping.  When my panel was dry, I stamped a sentiment from Wet Paint in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black--that black is really amazing.

When everything was dry, I impressed with the canvas/linen IP, added a thin strip of True Black and then nestled the front panel all the way to the bottom right of the card base and rounded just that edge.--just felt like doing something a big different for the front.

Since my Distress Inks were already out, I used them to create a sponged background using Color Throwdown ctd286 colors--Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed, and Peeled Paint.  I was inspired by this card from Donna at Mama Elephant.  I just love this Make a Wish set.  It is so quick and easy to make a big statement.  The stars are coated with Glossy Accents.

And, finally--I took another pass at the birthday card for my sister--which you can see here.  I was still bugged by my daughter's comment about the placement of the 5 and the 0, even though most of my blogging friends said it was not a problem.  I used numbers die cut from Calypso Coral paper using By the Numbers dies, and coated them with a few layers of UTEE.

I think I like this one better.  What do you think?  Either way, I've got to get something in the mail today or the card will be late.

I'll be entering this new version at Seize the Birthday, where the toppings allow for any sort of bling--I am counting my glossy embossed numbers as bling.

I am also entering all three cards at Simon Says Monday where anything goes, and the birthday cards at Simon Says Wednesday Happy Birthday.
