Crafting with Hero Arts

I pulled out some old and new Hero Arts stamps to create three cards that I plan to enter over at A Blog Named Hero Anything Goes.

This first card uses one of my earliest and most favorite stamps.  It is called Silly Scape, and it always makes me smile.  I colored the buildings using a rainbow of Copic markers, inspired by both the challenge at Just Us Girls #572: Rainbow and the inspiration photo at Fusion: Rainbow Dress.  My design was also guided by the sketch at AAA Cards #184 and Addicted to Stamps and More #399: Any Occasion (birthday).

Next up is the dreaded one layer card...for the challenge at Less is More #437: One Layer and Flowers.  I used another one of my Hero Arts wooden oldies for this challenge, and was inspired to add interest to my simple image by embossing a wood grain textured frame around my flower using a Hero Arts Nested Wood Frame die.  My design was also guided by the sketch at AAA Cards #184.

a closer look at the embossed frame

Last up for today is this card using the adorable birds from Seize the Day Seagulls.  I was inspired by the sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches #408.

My Crafty Weekend

Here are the cards I made during my loooooong weekend.  (I think it was the weekend...it's hard to keep track of the days)

I made this card for the Stay Crafty with Hero Arts Challenge #4: Self Care.  I picked one of my oldest and most favorite Hero Arts stamps, Silly Scape for this challenge.  I am also entering this card at CAS on Friday #177: Black, White and One Color.

My next card was inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #430, which reminded me I had purchased dies from The Greetery that were perfect for this challenge.   My colors were inspired by CAS Colours & Sketches #365.  Stamps are oldies but goodies from PTI Larger than Life.

Next up is a card with one of my favorite MFT polar bear images....and it was inspired by the sketch at MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #484 and the colors at MFT Color Challenge #139.   I am also entering this card at Addicted to CAS #183: Animal, and AAA Birthday #12: Dots and/or Stripes (striped scarf).

Last up is a card inspired by the Project Reach Out: Missing You Challenge.  I used vintage PTI Larger than Life and Vogue Vases stamps and dies.  I am also linking up at Addicted to Stamps and More #384: Clean and Simple.

CASology Week 124: Old

It's time for a new CASology challenge.  This week, our cue word is OLD.  I am excited to see what everyone does with this word, as it seems like it could be open to all sorts of interpretations.  I decided to use some old supplies for this challenge.  I picked out one of the very first wooden stamps I ever bought and paired it with one of my oldest sentiment sets.  They are both from Hero Arts.  Loved them back when and still love them now.

I stamped Silly Scape using Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored a rainbow using various Copic markers.  I ended up cutting my panel in the wrong place after I had spent so long coloring, so I cut out the entire image and popped it up on a new panel cut to the proper size.  After coloring, I covered the entire image in Wink of Stella, and used Glossy Accents on the clock face.  I used the sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping #314.

So, what about you?   How does the word OLD inspire you?  Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by OLD.  Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

Catching Up

I've got an assortment of cards and other projects for various challenges that I have been working on this week.  First up is a card for A Blog Named Hero Challenge #18:  Golden Oldie and Color Throwdown CTD225.

I chose to use Hero Arts Silly Scape, which was one of the first stamps I ever bought.  I still love it, but it rarely comes out to play anymore, because I almost never take my wooden stamps out.   My colors are PTI Hibiscus Burst, Kraft, Sweet Blush and Orange Zest.  I paper pieced all the buildings and popped them up with varying depths of foam tape.  The piece on the side is a bit of hand made plaid using PTI Background Basics Super Stripes, and the sentiment is Hero Arts.

Speaking of wooden stamps, I thought I'd show you my home made stamp positioner (I was too cheap at the time to buy a Stamp-a-Majig).

Next up is a card for this week's ColourQ #172 and Moxie Fab #49:  Make your Own Background Paper.  I used PTI Funky Florals in Hibiscus Burst, Limeade Ice, SU Real Red to stamp a background pattern, with a section masked off for my Think Big Favorites sentiment stamped in Memento Grey Flannel.  I used a great tutorial on Simplicity to help me with the random placement (which isn't actually random at all).

I have some die cuts that I am sending to some crafty friends (you know who you are) and used this week's Make it Monday #100:  Packaging cards with Oversized Embellishments to pretty up my clear envelopes to hold everything together.

This card is for this week's CASology #27, where the cue word is 'blue'.  I kept thinking of baby cards, so I used PTI Happy Hexagon to make a card for a baby boy.  I used all three PTI blues--Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, and Enchanted Evening.

And, finally--a card I have been wanting to try ever since I got Knit Bits and Background Basics Striped Sweater--A sweater card with skates--for my niece who loves to figure skate.  Tracey was nice enough to send me some skates and other images from that set.

Here is a peek at the inside:

Well, that's it for me today.  I don't have the energy to write up all the supplies, but let me know if you have any questions.
