PTI January 2015 Blog Hop

I made a card for this month's PTI blog hop using the 3 Panel Card tutorial at this week's Make it Monday #198.  I used stamps from Simple Valentine, Heart Prints, Framed Out, Keep it Simple Valentines, and No Strings Attached.  I used a technique from a previous MIM about partial die cutting to partially cut that little heart out of the flap.  (After I made the card, I realized that it would look better if the heart were the other direction, but I didn't want to redo everything).

Here is what my card looks like all folded up:

This is the inside:

And, here is the back:

It was a fun project to make, and I am looking forward to seeing all the other projects on the hop.

I am also linking this card up at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Have a Heart, Time Out #23 Valentine with the optional twist of hearts and Addicted to Stamps: Holiday.

PTI 6th Anniversary Challenge and Make it Monday #103

Today's contest for Papertrey's 6th Anniversary is to create a tag or wrap based on a photo inspiration.  I did not need to look farther than Dawn's blog today to get my inspiration.

Dawn's Project

I love how she used the chocolate bar and the fun sentiment from Foodie Fun.  I made a tag that can go on a Valentines gift for DH.

I made another tag, this one a bit closer to Dawn's, that would work for a friend's birthday.  This is one of my very favorite sentiments of all.  I am so glad that it is true.

I have two bookmarks for this week's Make it Monday #103:  Die Cut Double Up.  I cut a bookmark out of white card stock.  Then, die cut my daughters' names out of that die cut.  I backed it with very slender rainbow stripes and then another solid bookmark.  We are big readers in this house, and even though we have Kindles and Nooks, we still need book marks.  I think I will make one for me if I have time tomorrow.

That's it for today.  Hopefully, I'll have some more tomorrow.  My oldest headed off for a school trip to Spain this morning, and while I was looking forward to a full day of crafty time without any interruptions, I think I packed my mojo in her suitcase.  Let's hope it returns before she does.

PTI December 2012 Blog Hop

This month, the challenge was white on white.  Here is the photo:

I die cut 30 white hearts using the middle size die from Heart Prints, and adhered them to my card base.  Then, I cut 7 more hearts, ran them through a variety of Impression Plates (Picnic Plaid, Aida, Woodgrain) and popped them up randomly.  I took one more heart, stamped in red with the word 'Love' from Mixed Messages, and then coated that heart with a few layers of UTEE.  The UTEE turned the white a bit more cream, which makes it stand out even more.  I am very happy with the result, which is my first Valentine card of this season.

Enjoy the rest of the hop.

Glitter Love

This is my second post today.  For my Papertrey April Blog Hop post, please click here.

I am squeaking in under the wire with two cards for this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC49 challenge.  I just couldn't let such a fabulous sketch get away without trying it.  I had a couple of ideas come to me this morning in spin class, and had a chance to try one of them.  I am also using the glitter die cut technique shown in this week's Make it Monday #63.

Hawaiian Shores

Hibiscus Burst

I made two cards to try out two slightly different layouts.   I will leave these cards for each of my daughters on my next trip away.  The video suggests using a Xyron machine to adhere the glitter.  Mine is too small for these hearts, so I used some PeelnStick double sided adhesive sheets I found in my stash.  I'm pretty sure I got it at Michaels a while back.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Heart Prints, Mixed Messages (Hawaiian Shores), Heart Prints, Paper Smooches Pretty Phrases (Hibiscus Burst)
Paper:  White, Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush
Other:  Heart Prints Die, MS Glitter

Valentine and Wedding Cards

This is my last post for today's challenge, which is to use hearts on a project.  I really liked this card that I made earlier in the week, and decided to make a few more variations today.

My husband asked if he needed to buy me a Valentine's Day card.  Gotta love the romance of that guy!  I told him I didn't believe in paying for cards anymore--but I would make him a Valentine he could give to me, and I would sell it to him for $100.  He has no idea what a good deal that is.  Here is the Valentine I made for DH to give to me:

Here is a peek at the inside (still unsigned):

Here's another Valentine for next year's stash:

I think these next two would be good Wedding or possibly Anniversary cards:

Stamps used are Background Basics Circles, Heart Prints, and Love & Marriage.

Valentines

Today's Anniversary celebration challenge is to create a project that incorporates hearts.  I decided to use up some of the patterned papers I bought this year, and get a jump on next year's Valentines stash.  I used variations on the same overall layout that my friend, Janelle, has been using a lot.  It's super simple, and really highlights the paper.  All the stamping is done with PTI Heart Prints.

Hugs and Kisses and Circles

My Background Basics Circles set arrived in the mail today--it is the set I chose when I was the randomly chosen winner in the December PTI Blog hop--and I immediately broke it open and started to play.  Now, I know I should have chosen one of the many beautiful color schemes given to us this morning as part of Papertrey's 5th Anniversary celebration and made another card to enter that challenge.

But a card popped into my head for this week's One Layer Wednesday, OLW#78, Circles, Circles Everywhere, and so I had to go with that.  I used Aqua as my main (and only color) for this week's Less is More Week #53 challenge "Aqua".

After many botched attempts, generating lots of scrap paper, I was finally able to get my stamping and die cutting all to work together for this card.  It's really true that these one layer cards leave no room for error and no place to hide mistakes.  Good thing I was able to remind myself that "it's only paper".

Here is what it looks like opened up:

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Background Basics:  Circles, Heart Prints
Paper:  White
Other:  Heart die

XOXO

I have a super quick card for this week's One Layer Wednesday, OLW74 where the challenge was to use only red and pink on a white card base.  I used Distress Worn Lipstick and SU Real Red.  I did a bit of scoring and masking to come up with this card, using PTI Heart Prints.  I'm also entering this card into the Valentine challenge over at A Passion for Papertrey

Valentines

I threw the heart border die into my cart on impulse during my last release order.  What a great idea that turned out to be.  I have been having such fun with it.

The first two cards were inspired by this card Maile Belles showed during the count down.

Rainbow Hearts

Color Blocked Hearts

Be Mine
Hugs & Kisses

I whipped up this last card super quick, after seeing this card from my friend Kim at Cupcakes, Cards and Kim.  I loved how she used patterned paper and Button Boutique, and just had to try it myself with one of my new Valentine paper pads.  The paper is double sided, so I cut one piece, and used both sides for the card.  That is the only way I know that these two patterns match.
