Odds and Ends

Hi there.  Today I was able to get quite a bit of crafting done, between my spin class and my crazy afternoon driving around.

I made another card for this week's Retro Sketches #46.  I had a piece of stamped paper left over from this Make it Monday project that I really wanted to use, and I also was curious to see how that dutch oven from Foodie Fun would look embossed with UTEE.

I also made a few smaller cards and decorated envelopes with Washi Tape for this week's Simon Says Challenge, which is to use washi tape.  I am going to enter the envelopes into this week's Make it Monday #100, which is all about how to package cards with oversized embellishments.  I am stretching a bit, as these are undersized, but I think the principles are the same.

These might look familiar to you.  They are designed to accompany these card sets, that I made for Rachel to give to two of her teachers.

Make it Monday #99: Take 6 and CAS-ual Fridays #85

This is my 6th card for this week's Make it Monday #99:  Repeats & Rainbows.  I used color scheme #5.   I am also submitting this card for this week's CAS-ual Friday's CFC #85:  Round of Applause.  The challenge there is to make a card that celebrates an achievement and uses at least one circle.

I used an image from Background Basics Retro that I don't think I have every used before.  Nestled amidst the diamonds are lots and lots of circles.  The star is coated in several layers of UTEE, and popped up with foam tape.

I have now used all 6 of the rainbow color schemes given in this week's Make it Monday.  I have had a great time playing with color this week.  I think I'll move on to something else, but I know I will use these color schemes again.  There is still time for you to play along, and there is a free printable download of all the color schemes here.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Background Basics Retro, Star Prints, Say it With Style
Paper:  White, Canyon Clay
Ink:  Scarlet Jewel, Autumn Rose, Canyon Clay, Summer Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse
Other:  UTEE, rhinestones, Striped Impression Plate, Star Dies, Pinking Border Die

Thank You Cards

I've got a couple of Thank You cards I made to accompany some year end gifts I'll be whipping up this weekend.  See this post.  I loved this week's colors, which I interpreted as Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening, Scarlet Jewel, and Kraft.  I was inspired by this card by Deanna--I loved the look of stripes with a sentiment masked in the midst of the stripes.  I just started playing around, and this is what I came up with.

This first card uses Background Basics Retro, one of my favorite PTI background sets.

The next two cards use the chevron stamp from Waltzingmouse Off Beat Backgrounds.  This is the first time I have used that Chevron stamp, and I love two things about it--first, it is as wide as the long side of a card, and second, it has a bunch of chevrons attached on the same stamp, so there is less to worry about with spacing.

All the sentiments on these cards are from Paper Smooches.

Runway Inspired Thanks

I am still attempting to become fashionable by participating in the Runway Inspired Challenges.  It's not working yet, but I am not giving up.  For ric#2, we have this photo for inspiration:

This was a particularly challenging photo, since there were so many different elements to choose from.  I chose to focus in on:  the black stripes, the circles on the strap of the handbag, and the colors--kraft, green, purple, and mustard.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Background Basics Retro, Tiny Tags, Half & Half
Paper:  White, Kraft, Ripe Avocado, Plum Pudding
Other:  Eyelet, Half & Half Dies, twine

Hi there

I'll make it brief, as this is my second post of the day.  I'm playing along with PTI's Make it Monday #35:  Custom Stamped Washi Tape and ColorQ #105Nicole showed us how easy it is to use Scor-Tape to make our own Washi Tape.  Since I only had 1/8 and 1/4 inch Scor-Tape, I thought it would look better on a mini card.

My card is 2 .5 by 3.5, sized for the Seed Packet Die.  The inks I used to match the ColorQ colors were Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Rich Cocoa, VersaMagic Aloe Vera, and  Versacolor Lavender.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Background Basics Retro, Background Basics Text Style, Mixed Messages

Papertrey September Blog Hop

Today, I am playing along with Papertrey's September Blog HopWe were challenged to make a card based on this inspiration photo.  I have to say that I was stumped at first, as I didn't really even like the picture (I can say that, because this is my blog!).  But, then I thought about what I saw, which was:  colors (black, aqua mist, yellow and red), simple, linear and graphic pattern, and a door.  Here is my card:

I used one of my favorite stamps from Background Basics Retro to stamp something linear in the colors I saw in the photo.  Very simple.  I interpreted the door as a greeting, and used part of one of the Think Big Favorites to stamp 'hello'.
