Two Birthday Cards

I made two birthday cards today.  My first card uses the colors from this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC112 challenge, the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#41, and is inspired by the balloons at the Lil Inker 3rd Birthday Challenge.  I am also linking up at this week's Seize the Birthday Anything Goes Challenge.  I put my sentiment on a Stitched Sentiment Flag and then trimmed both ends into v's without stitching (so they would match).

My second birthday card is for this week's Curtain Call Carnival Craze.  This is my first time playing in this challenge.  When I saw all the DT playing with Admit One, I decided to pull out my set and play along.  My card design was inspired by this card by Kasia.  I loved all the black stamping on white with only one image colored in.  I used Glossy Accents on the colored ponies.  I am also linking this card up at this week's Seize the Birthday Anything Goes Challenge.

Three Cards for Thursday

My first card for today is for this week's ColourQ cQc #202 and follows this sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping #253.  This is my first time playing at Clean & Simple, but when I saw this beautiful card on Kim's blog, I decided to check it out for myself.  I used the three circles from Sketched Shapes, and also stamped part of the sentiment on colored paper and fussy cut, just like the example I saw.

My next card was inspired by the Monday Mood Board at WPlus9 as well as this week's Tuesday Trigger:  I'm Craving Navy.  I was inspired by the color navy, the stripes in both photos, the whole nautical vibe and the sailboat on the dresser in the Tuesday Trigger photo.  Also, I was inspired by all the new nautical goodies I just bought (wink).  I stamped some stripes using SU Night of Navy and PTI Distressed Stripes.  The sentiments are from my new WPlus9 Dockside set, and the sail boat is from the Nautical Notions dies.

Last up today is a card for Lil Inker's 3rd birthday challenge.  I see so many ways to be inspired by these pictures that I think I will be playing along a few more times.  Today, I took my inspiration from that funky layer cake.  Now, I would never in a million years eat a cake that looked like that--not enough chocolate to suit me--but it did get my creative juices flowing.  After adhering all the layers of scallops, I cut the bottom of the card along the shape of the scallop--just for fun.

CASology #57, Make it Monday #129, and a Sympathy Card

As soon as I saw the cue word 'Picnic' for this week's CASology challenge, I knew just which stamp set I would use.  Would you believe that I bought Vintage Picnic over 3 years ago, and am only just using it now.  Shame on me, right?

My next card today is for this week's Make it Monday #129:  White Crayon Resist.  When I started making this card, I had something completely different in mind.  But, when my daughter saw my stamped panel, she asked why I was making a snowflake card in August.  I saw that she was right--the flowers colored with white crayons against the Spring Rain sponged background looked like snowflakes.  So, I went with it, and turned it into a holiday card.  I added stamped centers in Blueberry Sky ink and Ice Stickles.

Sometimes I forget that I can make a card just because I want to.  Do you ever do that?  I felt like trying out my new Meadow Greens set, and my sympathy card stash is a little depleted, so that is what I did for my third card.

I will be entering all three of these cards in this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Make the Cut.

Lawnscaping #63 and Color Throwdown #254

I have not played at Lawnscaping in a very long time.  Since I love one layer cards, I thought this would be a good week to jump right in with their challenge No. 63:  One Layer.  I recently won dies to Critters in the Forest, and thought I could add interest to my one layer card with some masking and a little die cut window.

The front owl is actually stamped on the inside of the card.  I thought this would be a fun way to say 'hi' to my daughter who loves owls.  This will get tucked into her suitcase some time.  She seems to always be packing up and going somewhere to see her friends.

My next card is for this week's Color Throwdown CTD254.  The first time I used my Rainbow Stripes dies, they made me think of a road, and I thought it would be fun to combine these dies with Enjoy the Ride.   I die cut each piece, adhered them on a piece of scrap card stock, fussy cut it all out, and ran it through my Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder that looks like tire tracks.  I paper pieced Soft Stone paper over the headlights and front windshield, and coated them with Glossy Accents.

My daughter and a niece are both going on 16, so whoever makes it to drivers ed first will likely get this card.

Casology #56, Make it Monday #128, ColourQ #201, and Moxie Fab

One card for 4 challenge today--Make it Monday #128:  Stamping Random Pattern Backgrounds, ColourQ #201, Casology #56 Dessert,  and The Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

I used some of the smaller images from Snowflake Flurries to stamp a random pattern on my card front.   Then, I made a cupcake from Cupcake Collection and adhered that to a Spiral Notebook Die Cut.  I used the star sprinkles stamp to cover the white die cut, and added some Prisma Glitter to the top of the frosting.

I used Laurie's Card Hanger die to make a little gift set:

I have one more card to share today, and it is another entry for this week's Casology and The Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  I have been trying to pull out older stamps that haven't seen much love in a while, and my SU Birthday Bakery set seemed perfect for both of these Challenges.

I just love the sentiment that came with this set.  I colored all the images with Prisma Color pencils, and added glossy accents and stickles, too.  Here is a close up:

Casology #56 and Seize the Sketch #1

Just when I decide that sketch challenges are my favorite sort of challenge, a new sketch challenge pops up and I am so happy to be able to play in the very first challenge at Seize the Sketch.  And, the cue card for CASology is definitely something right up my alley as well.  When I hear 'dessert', all I can think about is CHOCOLATE.  I am pretty much only interested in dessert if it is chocolate--and then I am very interested.

I think this card will go to my oldest daughter, along with a giant chocolate bar, next time I think she needs a little stress relief.  I alternated rows of chocolate chips with a fun curly line from Lawn Fawn's Belinda's borders.  I stamped the chocolate bar twice in versamark, embossed with Zing Chestnut and cut them both out.

This MFT Chocolate Sentiments set has so many cute sentiments--here is what I stamped inside the card:

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  MFT Chocolate Sentiments, Technique Tuesday Eat Chocolate, Lawn Fawn Belinda's Borders
Paper:  PTI White
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Versamark, SU Pretty in Pink
Other:  Canvas/Linen IP, Zing Chestnut Embossing Powder

Dynamic Duos #64 and Moxie Fab Birthday Card Challenges

It feels like forever since I was making cards and blogging, but really it has only been a week or so.  I'm back from vacation, and have one quick card to share before I need to get back to all of my neglected chores and laundry.

I had an idea to stack and combine two cuts from the PTI Triangle Cover plate--and I either saw it someplace or dreamed it up myself.  I honestly can't remember.  Anyway, when I sat down to play, this is what I decided to try.  If anyone out there knows who posted this idea first, please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.   I thought the background looked a bit like a trellis, and so paired it with some flowers from Cutting Garden and leaves from Embroidered Blooms.

I am entering this card into the challenge at Dynamic Duos as well as The Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, the  Simon Says...Triangle Challenge, and The Trendy Triangle Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Thanks for coming by to see what I've been up to.  I know I've been a little scarce, as I tried to keep myself and my family unplugged as much as possible while we were away.  But, now that I'm home, I expect I'll be round to visit all my usual haunts as soon as possible.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Cutting Garden, Embroidered Blooms, Verve Big Wish
Paper:  White, Harvest Gold, Hibiscus Burst, Soft Stone
Ink:  Soft Stone, Memento London Fog
Other:  Triangle Cover Plate, Turning a New Leaf , Cutting Garden Dies, MFT Fishtail Flags, Prisma Glitter
