Birthday Wishes and Happy Mother's Day

I made a festive and fun birthday card, inspired by the challenge at PTI Make it Monday #317: Using Outline Images.  I really liked this technique, because sometimes (often) I am too lazy to color, and this is a good way to add color to a card without having to color.

I used solid images from Birthday Style to add color with balloons and confetti, and then used some outline images from Tremendous Treats Birthday.  I like the way this came out, and will try it again, I am sure.  I am also entering this at Simon Says Monday Challenge: A Trio of Something---I followed the rule of threes for my balloons, stamping 3 balloons in each color, and I also stamped three of  the birthday cakes and cupcakes.  I am also entering this at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge:  Happy Birthday.

My next card uses fresh spring colors for a Mother's Day card, and I am entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #286: Anything Goes.

Things will be a bit quiet on the blog for the next week, as I will likely only be posting scheduled posts for CASology and Time Out.  But, that does not mean my life is quiet.  Actually, quite the opposite.  In 2 MORE SLEEPS, I will be flying to Toronto to spend a week with Tracey McNeely and Kim Heggins.  This has been in the works for years and years, and now it is almost here.  Expect lots of pictures when I return home.

Hang in There

I pulled out some Paper Smooches and PTI stamps that I have had for years to create another 'hang in there' card for my customer.  I just love this little monkey, and it was great to have an excuse to ink him up.

I am entering this card at Retro Rubber #46 where the challenge is critter time and old stamps, and Simon Says Monday Stamp It challenge.

While I had that monkey out to play, I made a second card.

I'm so glad I took this little monkey out and inked him up.  He makes me happy.

CASology Week #195: Sprinkles

This is my second post today.  If you are looking for my ColourQ post, please click here.

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is
Sprinkle.  Oh, I had fun with this one.  Who doesn't love sprinkles on their cake?  Or on their ice cream?  Or on their card?

I decided to stamp an area of sprinkles, colores with Copics, to surround and ground my birthday cake focal image.

I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

Now, it's your turn.  How does Sprinkles inspire you?  I hope you play along this week. Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

Happy Little Stampers Case The Designer March 2016...Big Birthday Wishes

Hello and happy March.  I'm here to post a card for Happy Little Stampers Case the Designer challenge.

This month, our inspiration is provided by the very talented Kim Heggins. Just take a look at the fun card Kim made to inspire us.

I was inspired by all the fun panels Kim has on her card.  Each panel has an adorable image or scene, and it is all pulled together by her sentiment.

I used a Pretty Pink Posh die I recently purchased and some PTI stamps to make a fun birthday card. I have 3 different panels--two of them have images from Tremendous Treats--that I fussy cut and colored, and my third panel has the sentiment.

I really wanted to make a kid's birthday card because Kim's card was so perfect for her young students.

Our challenge will run for the entire month of March.  I hope you will play along.  Please head over to the Happy Little Stampers Case the Designers blog to see more inspiration from the rest of the design team.

Happy Mail for Grayson

I'm here to post three cards that I made after reading Danielle's post here on Neat & Tangled.  Danielle wrote of the story of a sweet little boy who is suffering greatly.  I am going to 'lift' from Danielle's post for you to read here.  Warning--grab some Kleenex first.

Hello friends. It is with much sadness that I am writing this post. You may recall back in January I started a card drive for a sweet little boy, Grayson.  He had been diagnosed with brain cancer and I had hoped to bring him some smiles with your cards.  The drive was a success! Grayson and his brother, Aydan, LOVED your cards! They received over 200! His mom, Jackie, wrote a little about the joy it brought them in her own blog post HERE.
Grayson

Since then Grayson has undergone chemotherapy and had relative success in that his very aggressive tumor has not grown, but it also has not shrunk. This is hopeful news though because the chemo was at least making the tumor "behave".

This weekend Grayson was involved in an accident at home which has left his foot severely injured. They are unsure if it will need to be amputated or not, and the entire situation is further complicated because of his cancer.  His chemo has to be put on hold until they can decide what to do about his foot. Until then he is staying in the hospital. You can read it in Jackie's words HERE.

It seems so unfair that a small child must be put through so much. And I cannot begin to imagine how his family feels. I know that my own heart aches. I think when you become a mom you hurt for all children suffering, not just your own.

I am restarting the card drive for Grayson.  As before you can send cards to Grayson, his big brother Aydan, and/or the entire family.  Please NO "Get Well" cards,  just funny, happy, cute encouraging cards to bring a smile to their faces.

Mail cards to:

Grayson Savery (and/or Aydan Savery, and/or The Savery Family)

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and PLEASE share with all your crafting friends!

Here are the cards I made to send to Grayson, his brother, and his parents:

For Grayson--I wanted to make a card that was interactive and fun.  I paper pieced and fussy cut the elephant from Tremendous Treats Birthday and put one of them on an Action Wobble.  It kind of boings when you press it.  The stars have Glossy Accents on them.  I used the Poppers die inside the card to put another elephant and some stars.

A similar card for Aydan, Greyson's big brother:

I used the sketch at this week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge to make a card for the parents.

If you are touched by the struggles of this little boy and his family, I hope you will join me in sending them a card to lift their spirits.
