Uncorked Birthday Cards

Today is my DH's birthday, and I'm not fooling.  He loves that his birthday is April Fools day because everyone always remembers his birthday.

I am so fortunate that my DH's most expensive hobby is all about wine--buying it, storing it, drinking it, learning about it, visiting it, etc.  I get to benefit greatly from his hobby with absolutely no effort at all on my part.  Plus, no matter how much I spend on stamps, he always tops me with his wine.  So, he makes stamping guilt free for me. Win-win,

When I saw Uncorked by PTI a few months ago, I knew I needed to buy that set.  What a great way to combine both our hobbies, right?  So, I pulled out Uncorked and made a couple of cards--one of them will be his birthday card later today.

First up is the card I think I will be giving him tonight.

I am entering this card at Seize the Birthday where the theme is Anything Goes and Simon Says Wednesday Happy Birthday.

On my next card, I used a split panel treatment inspired by this card.  I stamped my card front repeatedly with 2 of the images from Uncorked in a variety of WPlus9 inks.  I sliced the strip containing the sentiment and then adhered that strip flat to the card base and popped the top and bottom pieces up with foam tape.

I am entering this card at AAA Cards #36 Easter Colors, Simon Says Stamp Monday Pastels, and Virginia's View #14 Layers and Dimension.

Last up is another card inspired again by (the great) Laura Bassen.  I used the Uncorked dies and sponged distress inks on a piece of white card stock in the negative space.

I am linking this one up at The Challenge #28 and Simply Create Too #82 Anything Goes.

Thanks For Visiting

Remind me - when we're together in person - to tell you about my Napa Wine Train trip with my daughter a few years ago... I'll never forget it as long as I live!

I love all these cards - and not just because I love wine:) Each one has its own style so that it is hard to pick a favourite - but I especially lie the third one that used the negative of the die cuts - it is simply stunning!
