2014--A Retrospective

Another year has come and gone, and I have taken this opportunity to look over all the cards I made and blogged about over the past year.  Since we are saying goodbye to 2014, I have cheated on my baker's dozen just a smidge and have selected 14 of my favorite cards to share today.  I tried to pick some of my favorites and also cards that represent something I really like--either a favorite style, stamp set, or technique.  If you are looking to see all my cards in one place, click here and you will be taken to my Pinterest board, where I pin all of my own cards.

What do I notice?  A lot of white space, die cuts--both negative and positive, paper piecing, flowers, and buildings and houses.  Yes, that sounds like me.

Click on each card to go back to the original post.

Thank you for joining me on this trip down memory lane.  I am so grateful for all the friends I have met in this crafty blogging community.  Your visits, comments and friendship mean a lot to me.

I wish you all a happy and healthy new year.

The 12 Kits of Occasions: December 2014

Well, Christmas and Chanukah are behind us and New Year's eve is right around the corner. Speaking of new things, what is more new (and exciting) than a baby?  This month we are celebrating all things baby.  Our host is Cathy, and she sent probably the biggest kit I have received in a long time.  I'm talking chock full of sugar and spice and everything nice, snips and snails and puppy dog tails.

Here is a picture of the kit Cathy sent:

I'll get right to it, because once I started creating with this kit, I made 10 cards before I realized I should stop and take a breather.  First up are cards for the baby girls.

And some cards for the boy babies:

And a few cards for those babies who are still leaving us in suspense:

You would be shocked if you could see how much I still have left from my kit.  I am all set for babies for a long time.  That's all for me today.  I cannot wait to see what everyone else made with their kits.  Thanks so much, Cathy, for sending such a wonderful kit.  Please click here if you would like to see a supply list.  And, you can click here to see our 12 kits blog post.

Now, you can hop on over to the other designers in the group to see what they did with their kits.

And our special guest, Lynn of The Mango Boys and Me

One more thing....today we say a fond farewell to Renee, who was the initiator and fearless leader of our group from the very beginning.  Renee is going to be focusing all of her time and energy on her family, and I wish her nothing but the best.  This is her last month with us, and I honestly don't know what we will do without her.

Crafting Just for Fun

Hello and happy Monday.  I am posting a few cards I made just for fun.  I recently got a new cover plate--In the Woods, and paired it with the Tinsel & Tags House Additions mini set.  I cut In the Woods out of vellum, and colored the back with a Copic marker.

I saw this next design a few times during the PTI release.  I did not buy the PTI set with the beach chairs because I already had these chair dies from Impression Obsession.  I am trying just a teeny bit harder to see what I can do with what I already have, instead of buying so much new stuff.  We'll see how it goes, but so far, so good.

I cased this card by Laura Bassen during the last PTI release.  She used Block Party, but I thought I could do something similar with Sketched Shapes.  I used a rainbow color scheme of Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Harvest Gold, Limeade Ice and Spring Rain.

I made another version with the focal point in the lower corner.

I was inspired by this fun photo and all the cards in the Inkspirational Challenge #72 gallery to make my last card.  I used fireworks from Waltzingmouse USA 1776, the skyline from Altenew Sketchy Cities, and some Distress Inks to make my card.

That's it for me.  Please come back tomorrow to see my December 12 Kits of Occasion Post.

Winter Wishes, Make it Monday and More

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I'm here with a few things I was able to create this week. First up is one last holiday card--probably the last for a while.  I used the colors from this week's Colour Me challenge.

I am playing along at the Serendipity Stamps Sparkle and Shine challenge with my next card, and I also used the sketch at RetroSketches.

My next three cards use the stamped border technique from this week's Make it Monday #194.

I am also entering this next card at Seize the Birthday.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday has an anything goes challenge this week, and so I am entering all 5 cards over there.

That's it for me today.

PTI December 2014 Blog Hop

The challenge at PTI blog hop this month is to use silver and gold together in a project.  I created a festive anniversary or wedding card, using a mixture of chunky silver and gold glitter.  I mixed the two together, and then stuck them on to a piece of score tape running up the side of my card base.

I'll be brief, as I'm sure there will be a lot of other cards to see on the hop.

CASology Week 128: Light

Happy Tuesday everyone.  Time for another CASology challenge.  This week, our cue word is LIGHT. I grabbed one of my very favorite holiday sets from PTI called Holiday Lights.  It's only about 2 or 3 years old, which in stamping time is ancient, I know.

After I stamped all of my strings of lights, I impressed my card front with a plaid impression plate.  I always like to use a little texture when I have a lot of white space on my card.  I think it adds interest without clutter.  I covered just the red bulbs with glossy accents.

I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and colors from ColourQ for my card this week.

So, what about you?   How does the word LIGHT inspire you?   Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by LIGHT.  Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.
