The 12 Kits of Occasions: April 2014

It is still April on the West Coast, but just barely.  I'm late to the party this month, but better late than never.  Our hostess this month is Jeanne, and she sent an enormous carton of fabulous crafty goodies.  The colors were so fun, bright and perfect for spring, and there were flowers galore.  Take a look at what I received.

I was so fortunate to get the kit with self assembling cards, because I was not able to sit down and really dig into this kit until yesterday.  Not a problem, because 7 cards arranged themselves literally before my very eyes, and all I had to do was add adhesive.  Here are my first 7 cards.

I think this one may be my favorite.  Jeanne sent some wonderful ribbons, and I really wanted to use them all.  I decided to use them as a backdrop behind a die cut heart opening.  The sentiment is on vellum, and is adhered to the back of the front panel.  Pretty good way to get so many different ribbons on a card and still have a relatively CAS look.

If I had stopped there, I would have had my post up sometime this morning.  That was my intention.  However, there were several sheets of patterned paper in the kit that were literally calling out my name, demanding to be used.  So, since I was late already, I decided to see what those papers wanted to do.

I cut several of the patterns with the Hexagon Cover Plate, to make this card.

This pattern was so pretty, I just sliced it up and glued it down.

This paper was my favorite, and I just wanted to show it off.

That's it for me--I do have lots more stuff left over, and quite a few ideas about how to use my extra supplies.  But, I decided I'd better call it a day and get my post up with all the others.  I had so much fun with this kit.  Thank you, Jeanne, for sending such a huge and fabulous kit.

I am sad to say goodbye to our friend, Christina, who has left out group to spend more time with her family.  But, I am happy to welcome two Guest Designers this month--both incredibly talented card makers--Erin from Homemade Cards by Erin and Nancy from Artful Notions.

Next month, I am the hostess, and I have an extra kit to give away.  Would you like to join us as a Guest Designer?  Please stop by our 12 Kits of Occasions blog page and leave a comment telling me what is your favorite thing about the month of May.

Here is a list of all the other members of our 12 Kits of Occasions group.  Please visit them and see what they have created with Jeanne's April kit.

  1. What a ton of cards in one day! Wow Joyce...loved that first card with the ribbon and heart...and your Mom card is also one that stood out to me. The hexagon card was so creative...loved how you showed off the patterned papers from our kit...also great idea to split the pieces of patterned paper into columns...wish I had thought of that one!

  2. OMGosh ….so worth the wait! Your first ribbon card is brilliant! what a great way to use ribbon and easy to mail. I love bows but so hard to mail. You blew me away with all these gorgeous cards Joyce. Each card is perfection and I mean that! Love the mothers day card and I know that takes awhile to make. Love all your fresh ideas. I think we will all be casing your ribbon idea.

  3. GORGEOUS cards Joyce!! I love them all , but that 'sliced' card is pretty nifty!!

  4. "best for last" is the thought that comes to mind. :) These are outstanding! I thought for sure the ribbon one would be my favorite as well when I first laid eyes on it, but after looking at the rest of your cards, I'm not sure. I love them all! I'm not kidding. I kept thinking..."I want to CASE this one. And I want to CASE this one. AND I want to CASE this one..." with every card I saw.

  5. Fabulous cards, Joyce! I love all of the large flowers!

  6. You always go to the head of the class in terms of productivity, Joyce! Your mind is really amazing and even more so with this kit of "magic" cards that made themselves for you!! Love it when that happens! I've used that ribbon-behind technique and really love it, too. I agree, that's my favorite, but only by a smidge! Have a great weekend! Hugs, Darnell

  7. Fabulous collection, Joyce! It's amazing you made so many in such a short time and they all came out beautifully. Love the ribbon technique! The Mom card is gorgeous--so striking and the hexagons made with those pretty papers is fantastic.

  8. Wow you totally outdid yourself Joyce. What a gorgeous collection of fabulous cards! No magic, just raw talent. The ribbon heart is such a creative idea. Love what you did with the teapot and cup and that hexagon are highlights, but there are no favourites!

  9. Hahaha, self making cards indeed ... Joyce, your fabulous style is all over these wonderful cards! I've tried to pick a favorite but can't, they're all amazing ... maybe the ribbon one ... maybe the sliced one ... maybe ... ok I'll stop there ... you get the drift!! Anita :)

  10. Sorry for being MIA but I couldn't have missed this post from you where I always get some great cards and also come great ideas :) love the all !

  11. I adore the open heart card with the ribbon behind it! I am going to have to try that for sure. Such a great variety of cards. You came out with some real winners even though you were crunched for time. Then you started playing with that patterned paper! Those cards just made my heart go pitter patter!!

  12. Oh my oh my! So many beauties to choose from! That first card with all the samples of ribbon is such a neat idea! The hexagon card I just swoon over :) And then the birthday card with that huge gorgeous flower? Just in love!
