PTI May 2013 Blog Hop

What a fun topic we had this month--flowers.  I am afraid to count the flower sets I have, but it is safe to say that I have a lot.  I thought about trying to make one card with each of my flower sets, and quickly ruled that out as impossible.  I did try to make something for each of the color schemes we were given, and I made it to all but one.  I'll have to get that one some other time.

 Sweet Spring

First up is a little teacher gift that I made based on this post by Christina.  I ordered the paper cubes here.    It's hard to get a perspective on size in this photo--the cube is 2 inches on all sides.  It was surprisingly easy to stamp on the side of the cube.  I colored with copics, and even added some glitter with a sakura gel pen.

I stamped and colored some images on a piece of computer paper, and stuck it inside of this pen to coordinate with the memo cube.

Here is a side view:

I made a matching tag using Tremendous Tags, and tied it all together with some sheer ribbon from Michaels.

I am going to enter this into the Gift Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Friends Till The End

My next card uses paper piecing, and is also for this week's Make it Monday #117.  I tried to stick as close as possible to this color scheme, but had to make a few substitutions because I really wanted to use my Distress Dots paper.

Funky Florals

This is my favorite of the color schemes, and I think this card is one of my favorites for today.  I was inspired by this card I saw a while back, which reminded me how much I love my Background Basics Medallions.

Beautiful Blooms II

I started this card by stamping a background on a quarter sheet of white.  I ended up cutting it in two pieces, and using it on two cards.   I wanted to use a vertical sentiment on both cards, and couldn't figure out if it should read from the bottom up or the top down.  So, I did one each way, and perhaps you can tell me which looks right?

Botanical Silhouettes

I got the idea to use that picket fence from Lisa's card here. I used the fence from Little Bitty Bird.  I can't believe I own two different picket fence dies.

The Sweet Life

Last is my other favorite card of the post.  I am also submitting this card to this week's Simon Says...Take a Picture.

I know I have kept you too long.  Enjoy the rest of the hop.  I am eager to see some of my other flower sets in action.

Thanks for Visiting

  10. Wow - beautiful set of projects Joyce - love that they are all so different! The first gift set is a winner and I love how you used the funky florals & Friends to the End sets. As to the vertical sentiments, I think the way you have shown them is the way I would do it - if the panel is on the left side of the card I want to read bottom to top and if it is on the right side, I want to read top to bottom (I think we are trained to read clockwise if that makes sense).

  26. You are really branching out, Joyce! Your paper cube & matching pen make the sweetest gift all decked out with flowers. Your cards are all wonderful, but if I had to pick a favorite I think it would be your Mother's Day card ~ just stunning! 27. This really could have been the Papertrey & Joyce Blog Hop! When I saw the topic, I knew right away that you'd have a ton of eye candy for us! I was not expecting a paper cube and pen, however ... how fun is that. I didn't know there were pens you could stick paper inside. And the yellows in your Mother's Day card are scrumptious! As far as the direction of the sentiments, I thought my answer was going to be "depending on what side of the card it's on" but after I saw the cards, I think I still prefer reading from the bottom up. Interesting question! I've wondered that myself. Have a great Memorial Day weekend, Joyce!!

  30. Oh, no, no, Joyce, you didn't keep me too long. Usually I end up a bit overwhelmed by the end of your post because you leave me in such awe at how many different beautiful cards you put in one post. But today was just a purely enchanting ride through your garden of cards! At the end, I wanted to keep going! It's impossible for me to pick a favorite, in fact they are ALL going in my faves. I could spend the rest of my blogging and card making life just doing CASEs of your cards!! xxoo Darnell
