Make it Monday #90

During this week's Make it Monday #90:  Creating Focal Point Sentiments with Stamps and Dies, Betsy Veldman showed us how to combine sentiment sets with alphabet dies.

I made two cards with this technique.  The first is a holiday card, that will be sent to Vera Yates for her Caring Hearts Card Drive.  I selectively inked just the "Merry &" from "Merry & Bright" and used my PTI Block Alphabet dies to spell the word 'bright' in Ocean Tides, Scarlet Jewel and Aqua Mist"   I used Paper Glaze to get a bit of sheen on the colored lights.

The idea for this next card came to me during spin class.  I used a sentiment from Paper Smooches Good Gab.  I stamped the sunburst from Hello Sunshine so that all the rays would be coming out of the middle of the 'O' in 'color'.   I love this sentiment, but honestly do not know what one does with this sort of card.  Any ideas?

This is such a fun and easy technique, and I think I'll be using it again sometime.

  1. These turned out just perfectly Joyce. I love the colour scheme on your first card and you combined sets that I LOVE. The sunburst behind you alphas on card two is placed bang on--LOVE this one too!

  2. Joyce...both of your cards are just so fun. I love how you used the light strands and the color combination so beautiful! You are just so clever too with that "o" in the center of your sunburst, such a fun card.

  3. Nice job on both cards - I love the color & design of the second one - congrats on the FB shout-out from Nichole!!
I think sentiments like this are a bit challenging, but can be used for a thank you, thinking about you or even a birthday card for the right person.

  4. Congrats on your well deserved shout out from Nichole. I'd send the card as a surprise to someone or a thank you. Who wouldn't love the rainbow letters and sunshine?

  5. Joyce, these are both fantastic!! LOVE, LOVE your second card with the sunburst coming from the "O" ... I've seen a lot of great cards with this stamp and now I'll have to add yours to the list.

It's so funny you mention what to do with the sentiment. I see this sentiment a lot and always think the same thing! It would definitely have to be the right person.

  6. WOW! These are wonderful. I LOVE the sunburst coming out of the "O". Every time I see that sentiment I think I could only use it on a card for my husband or daughters.

  7. Joyce these cards are great! I love the holiday lights with the paper glaze, and the perfect sentiment to go with it. I also love the O over the sunburst!

  8. Wow Joyce these are both so beautiful! So eye catching, I love the retro christmas colours on the first card, and the rainbow colours on the second!

  9. Love your cards today. The color scheme on the first card is beautiful.
My favorite is the 2nd card. Love the layout and how you colored the alphbet dies. Perhaps you can stick it in one of your girls' lunch bags or your husband's briefcase.

  10. Fabulousness Joyce! Love the strings of holiday lights on the first card. And WOW to your second with the perfect placement of the O and sunburst!!

  11. Wonderful gorgeous cards Joyce! I love the one with the lights so…….. much ! The color one is beautiful as well you are going to town with your cards. The only one I would think to give the second one to would be your DH… or girls.. but what do I know! Could you enter that one in the Ribbon Real challenge The one with the rainbow umbrella?

  12. I love both your cards! I didn't realize it, but my card is inspired by yours! (I created and uploaded my rainbow card and then saw yours on Nichole's blog)

  13. They are both fabulous!!
    Love that gorgeous Christmas card...
but the fun factor reigns in the 2nd!! :)

  14. Love both of your cards. So simple with such impact.
