ColourQ #337....Welcome New Baby

If you are looking for my CASology post, please click here.

Happy Tuesday and welcome to a new challenge at ColourQ.

We have a new set of colors for you this week.  Take a look at that sweet baby blanket from Gymboree.  It really takes me back to the days where I was a regular customer there--I would routinely buy 2 of just about everything, as I loved to dress my 2 daughters alike, and they liked it too.

I went all baby for my card this week.  Unfortunately, I can't get this picture lighter without having the pastel colors turn bright and vibrant.  Please trust me when I say that I used grey ink and pastel colored pencils.

I added some quilted texture to my card panel.  Those pale grey smudges are actually little stamped butterflies.  All the stamps on this card are from Hero Arts.

Please head on over to the ColourQ challenge blog to see more inspiration from the design team. I hope you will join in the fun and play along this week.

Retro Rubber....Guest Designer...Sending Hugs from Home

I have the honor today of posting as Guest Designer at Retro Rubber Challenge #36 because this card was chosen as the winner of challenge #33 last month.

The theme this week is water, and I decided to use water and my Zigs to color a very old stamp.  At Retro Rubber, the object is to pull out your older stamps (older than 1 year) and give them some love.

The oldest stamp on this card is the flower from PTI Friends Till the End, which I bought probably 4 or 5 years ago, and I bought it used, so it is even older than that.

My die cut and sentiment stamps are about 1 year old.

I hope you will play along this week at Retro Rubber. Pull out some older stamps and show them some ink.

Happy Birthday

I used the color isolation technique taught at Make it Monday #245 to create this birthday card.

I am also linking this card up at Seize the Birthday: Floral and Simon Says Wednesday: Happy Birthday.

I am hitting the road tomorrow with my daughter to tour a few colleges.  I have some scheduled posts next week for DT stuff, but other than that, will probably be pretty scarce on line.  I'll be back to my usual blog visits by next weekend.

Time Out #54...Happy Birthday

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out.  Our challenge this time is a Home Sweet Home challenge, and we have this photo to inspire you.

When I looked at this photo, I saw a bright and bold design and a riot of color.  I did some background stamping with a new Verve set (Simply Amazing) and matched the colors of the inspiration piece.

I used an inlaid die cut (built up with several red layers) for the 'happy' in my sentiment and a fussy cut white embossed on red for the 'birthday' part.

I am also linking up to Addicted to CAS #85: Inlaid Dies and Simon Says Wednesday: Birthday.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our Design Team and Guest Designer. Our Guest Designer this week is Elizabeth and our special Sponsor Designer is Kylie.  We are sponsored this week by Happy Little Stampers.

CASology Week #192: Sprout

This is my second post today.  If you are looking for my ColourQ post, please click here.

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is
Sprout.  For a while, all I could think of was brussel sprouts, one of my favorite vegetables.  But, as I don't have any brussel sprouts stamps (imagine that?), I decided to plant some flowers and have them sprout on my card.

After stamping my images from WPlus9 Doodle Buds, I used my Zigs and water brush to add color.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday challenge: Anything Goes.

Now, it's your turn.  How does Sprout inspire you?  I hope you play along this week. Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

ColourQ #336....Fashion Sense

If you are looking for my CASology post, please click here.

Happy Tuesday and welcome to a new challenge at ColourQ.

We have a new set of colors for you this week.  Aren't those boots just adorable?  I guess I was thinking of wearable flowers, because I used those colors to decorate a pretty dress.

I remember placing a $100 order at PTI last summer, in order to get this "free" set.  I had to have it. Would you believe this is the first time I have inked it up?  I think I would like a dress like this one.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Please head on over to the ColourQ challenge blog to see more inspiration from the design team. I hope you will join in the fun and play along this week.

Weekend Recap

I have had a massively creative couple of days, and I thought I'd better get everything posted before some challenges end.

First up is a card mostly inspired by the photo at Fusion: Orchid Occasions.  I was inspired by the two lovely aqua vases with pink orchids.

I was inspired to pull out a very old PTI stamp, Gracious Vases for my card.  I colored the flowers with my Zigs and a water brush, and stamped and fussy cut one of the vases and then coated it with Crackle Accents.  As Gracious Vases is old as the hills in stamping time (5 years or so), I'm entering this card at Retro Rubber #35: Anything Goes.

I am also entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #187: Make your Mark.

The challenge at Less is More #270 is White Space but not White.  That gave me the inspiration to try something I have had in the back of my mind for a while.

I stamped Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia in Versamark and then white embossed it.  I fussy cut a sentiment from the same set stamped in black on white.

I feel like I saw something like this eons ago, but am not sure.  If this is based on your card, please let me know and I will give credit.  I am also entering this card at CAS on Sunday #80: Flowers.

How about some birthday cakes?   I broke out my new PTI Just Desserts stamps and dies for two cards.  This first one went to my husband for his birthday.  His favorite birthday tradition is a particular birthday cake that looks just like this one--and as he was out of town for his birthday, I made him this cake on a card to tide him over until he can have the real thing.

I used a PTI stencil for the background, and will enter this card at AAA Cards #61: Stencil and Seize the Birthday (without toppings).

I used Freshly Made Sketches #230 to inspire my next birthday cake creation.

I used a column of randomly sized score lines in the front middle of my card to represent one of the slements of the sketch.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

Last up is a card inspired by the colors at Color Throwdown #386 and the scoring techniques taught at Make it Monday #244.

I created a frame on my card front with score lines.
