Muse # 85

Hi there.  I have a card to share for this week's Muse #85, where our inspirational card is provided by Marion Vagg.  I thought her card was absolutely stunning, and wanted to completely replicate it down to the last detail.  But, I know I am not supposed to do that, so I made a card, inspired by this card, that is just a little bit different, but I hope captures some of the stunningness of Marion's card.

I used SU Stippled Blossoms for the flowers--2-step stamping and fussy cutting--I love this set as it provides for shading and depth without coloring.  Marybeth brought this set to my house a few weeks ago, and I loved it so much that I ordered my own.  As this is the first time I am using it, I am entering this card at Darnell's NBUS #2 Challenge.

Here is a close up of the flowers and leaves.  I do not think I could have done that on my own with either copics or colored pencils.  Can you see that both flowers are coated with Wink of Stella?

CASology Week 113: Grass

Happy Tuesday, friends.  It's time for another cue word at CASology.  This week, our cue word is GRASS.  Hmmm.  I can think of a couple of ways to interpret this word, and I definitely do NOT have stamps for that.  I went back to one of my earliest stamp purchases--where I fell in love with the grass image in the stamp set, and then bought the set used from the PTI Forum.

I colored my focal point with Distress Markers and then added texture to the front panel.  I don't know why, but I still really love this grass.  Perhaps because it never needs water, cutting or weeding?  I live in a older neighborhood, and most of the mailboxes on our street (including mine) look just like this.

Now, it is your turn.  What do you think of when you see the word GRASS?  Have some fun with the cue word GRASS, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday at noon (CST).

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by GRASS.  Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

Happy Birthday Happy Dancer!

I was so very excited to receive an invitation to the social event of the season--Ardyth and Darnell are throwing a birthday bash for Bev, our Happy Dancing friend.  Bev is such a talented crafter and warm-hearted friend.  Have a piece of cake while I show you my card for Bev.

I decided to CASE one of Bev's cards for her birthday party.  It took me a long time to decide which card because there were so many CAS beauties to choose from.  This is the card of Bev's that I picked to CASE.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEV

I hope you have a wonderful and crafty day.

Of course, I had to use some NBUS and link to Darnell's NBUS challenge, since Darnell is one of the party hosts.  I used the SSS Bubble Parade die, which has been gathering dust in my craft room for several months now.

I ran that Bubble Parade die through in Limeade Ice, Tropical Teal and Hawaiian Shores, and decided to use all the extra bits for other cards.

Do you want to join in the fun at Bev's birthday bash?  Head on over to Ardyth's blog and join the linky party.

My Crafty Friday

I am learning to absolutely love carpool days!  I had time to go to the gym in the morning, and then play in my craft room for most of the day--then my daughters were delivered to my door.  Love that.

I used the Brevilla Houses die from Poppy Stamps to cut a whole bunch of little houses in colors inspired by this week's Color Throwdown #309 to make an entire neighborhood on my card.  I bought this die several months ago, and it has been sitting patiently waiting it's turn at the Big Shot--now it is the NBUS for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #2.  I am also entering this card at Catherine Pooler's Housewarming Party.

I have to say that this card came out just as I had imagined it when I thought it up in spin class, and I am very happy with how it looks.

I loved this color scheme so much, I made a second card with it.  I am entering this card at Seize the Birthday, where the toppings option is Sweet Treats.  There is a tiny little birthday card on my focal point.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday to Make Your Own Background.

I've got three cards for the Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge.  The first card is also for Colour Me #37.  I need to build up my stash of pet sympathy cards, and was inspired by this card by Laura Bassen.  I used Dog Icons dies by Paper Smooches and a sentiment from PTI Pet Sympathy.

I made another similar card using a paw print stamp from Paper Smooches Paws for a Cause and another sentiment from Pet Sympathy.  The ink is NBUS WPlus9 Lake House.

Last up, and my third card for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is a card for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  The tree is the All Seasons Tree from SSS and the sentiment is Paper Smooches Kibitzing Sampler.  I stamped and cut a tiny apple from one of the PTI Tag it's sets, and coated it with Glossy Accents.

If you are interested to see previous Rosh Hashanah posts, please click here.  I think I will be making a small batch of this particular card to send out for Rosh Hashanah, which is on September 25th this year.

I will be entering cards #2 and #4 at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Stamptember, because those cards have the most stamping.

That's it for me today.  Not sure what is up for this weekend, but I am hoping for some crafty time at some point.

New Home and Anniversary Cards

Hello there.  I have 2 quick cards to share today.  My first card was inspired by the colors at ColourQ #258 and the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #91.   I used those dangling things (don't know what they are called) to represent the vertical banner in the sketch.

ETA:  I am also entering this card at Catherine Pooler.com's Housewarming party.  Thanks, Bobby.

My second card uses the embossed resist using die cuts technique at Make it Monday #179.  I used this technique to make a background and am entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge to make my own background.

I am also entering both cards at Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge for Stamptember--because of the stamping.

CASology Week 112:

Happy Tuesday, friends.  It's time for another cue word at CASology.  This week, our cue word is THREE.  Lots of different ways to go with this word, and I cannot wait to see what you do.  I decided to use my Life is Beautiful butterflies to make a CAS card that features the 'rule of three' in its design.

I cannot say that I truly understand the science behind it, but odd numbers of items are more pleasing to the eye than even numbers.  The rule of three has always been stressed in card making, so I decided to use three butterflies in my card.

Now, it is your turn.  What do you think of when you see the word THREE?  Do you have any three year olds in your life?  Have some fun with the cue word THREE, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday at noon (CST).

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by THREE.  Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

Fall Birthday and 'Tis the Season

I've got a couple of cards today for some challenges that caught my eye as they worked well with some new dies I just received.

I was inspired by the Curtain Call photo to use my new IO Ginko Leaf die to create a fall themed birthday card in colors suitable for a male.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Monday bold (for the colors), Simon Says Wednesdays to use a rubber or clear stamp, and Seize the Birthday (without the toppings).

My second card is for Merry Monday #124 where the card must include a gift and Virginia's View #7 pattern paper.  I used the IO Gift Stack die and some EP pattern paper to make this holiday card.  I just love this new die, and think it would be perfect for birthdays, too.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday.

That is all I have time for today.  I still have pictures I need to post from when Kim and Marybeth came over for our own little delayed Stamp a Faire.  So, stay tuned.
