One Layer Cards

Hi there and happy Thursday.  I've got 4 one layer cards to share today.

First up is a card inspired by the pink flowers at The Card Concept's One Year Anniversary celebration and uses the technique at this week's Make it Monday #196:  Colorful Card Corners.  I am putting my card into the Clean and Simple category.

I am also linking this card up at Simon Says Wednesday Something New because my Garden Grace stamps are new to me, and at Simon Says Monday new and old--my old are the SU inks I used (Pretty in Pink and Strawberry Slush).

I started playing around yesterday with my very newest stamp set, Tumbleweed Houses by Unity, trying to create something for this month's One-Layer Simplicity Challenge of Attractive Opposites.

I think this one is my favorite--the opposite is colored and not colored.

This one features black and white as well as colored and not colored.

My last card is black and white as well as hearts and no hearts.

I'd like to come back to this challenge sometime before it ends with some better opposites.  This session kind of morphed into an excuse to play around with my little houses.  I really like these stamps, but getting them lined up was kind of a bear, as they are cling, not clear.

Well, that's it for me today.  I am heading up to Orange County to meet Cathy Weber (Empty Nest Crafter) for coffee and a bit of stamping chat.  I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Addicted to Stamps and The Card Concept

This is my second post for today.  If you are looking for my CASology post, please click here.

I am popping in quickly to share a card I made several days ago, but didn't realize that one of the challenges was ending.  I am throwing my hat into the ring for the Addicted to Stamps and More DT by playing along in their Holiday challenge.  I am also playing along at The Card Concept #24 with a tag on a card and snow and/or snowman.  I am entering in the category of Clean and Layered.

Don't forget to check out this week's CASology Challenge.  The cue word is a fun one!

Edited to add that I am also linking up at The Mixed Media Card Challenge #6 (thanks, Lyndal), where the challenge is home.

Four Cards for Thursday

Today I have a card that uses the colors from this week's ColourQ #268 and the sketch from RetroSketches #141.    When I first saw the colors and some of the samples, I was thinking feminine, but after I put my card together, I realized that my design worked better as a masculine card--so I picked a different sentiment that wasn't so ornate.  I'm also entering at Seize the Birthday, without toppings.

After cutting my 3 different colors of card stock with the SSS Diamond Parade die, I stamped them all with the background texture stamp from the same set as my sentiment--PTI's 1960's Stamp A Faire set.

Happy 2nd birthday to Addicted to CAS.  I made a card with my newest owl stamp, this little cutie from Unity called Woo Hoo Owl.  He is perfect for my owl-loving daughter because he has long skinny legs and wears glasses, just like her.  Can you see the Glossy Accents I used to make lenses on the glasses?  I am also entering at Addicted to Stamps #122 for their Make your Mark challenge, as I used Copic markers on my owl.  My daughter is going to Florida tomorrow for a big lacrosse tournament, and I'll be tucking this into her suitcase.

I was inspired by Kristie's card to finally use my No Strings Attached stamp set, and made another card for The Card Concept 23 Krafty Christmas.  I will call my card Clean and Layered.

My last card is for this week's Muse Challenge #94, Paper Players #222 Clean and Simple Thank You, and Simon Says Wednesday challenge thanks or Thanksgiving.  I wanted to follow the basic sketch of the gorgeous inspiration card, and use the technique of overlapping stamped images and inlaid die cutting for the sentiment.  When I stacked up my sentiment and inlaid it back into my stamped panel, topped with the layer cut from the stamped panel, it was really too difficult to read the die cut word, thanks.  So, I left it as a stacked inlay, but did not put the last layer on, which was the layer cut out of the stamped panel.  I added some burlap texture to the card front.

That's it for me today.

5 Cards for Challenges

.

Hi there and happy Wednesday.  I've got a card for this week's Make it Monday #180:  Stamping Ombre Backgrounds.  I loved Laura's background so much that I decided to try to make it myself.  I pulled out the same stamp set and inks and set to work.  I don't think mine came out as nicely as hers, but I am still pleased.

I was inspired by this card by Taheerah and wanted to try embossing in gold using embossing paste.  Honestly, I don't know why it never occurred to me that one could emboss with embossing paste.  You would have thought that I would have clued in when I heard the word ...'emboss'.  Anyway, I loved Taheerah's card and used my SSS Falling Snow Stencil with gold embossing powder to make my card.  I am entering this card at Virginia's View Challenge #9:  All Things Metallic.

When I saw Cristina's tag this morning on Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags, I knew I wanted to do something just like it for The Card Concept #23:  Krafty Christmas challenge.  I will put my card in the Clean and Layered category.

Last up are two cards that use the fabulous sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #99 and the fall colors at ColourQ #267.  I made a plaid strip using WMS Offbeat Backgrounds and then die cut and stamped the leaves and acorns from Autumn Acorns.

Well, that's it for me today.  Need to dash off to pick up my girls at school.

Card Drives (Part 4)

Happy Sunday.  I have been crafting for a couple of days, and decided I'd better post my cards before the challenges end.  I've got two tags for this week's Tag You're It challenge. I was inspired by Leigh's diagonal patterned paper and her use of die cut words.

I turned my tags into cards, and will be entering them at Addicted to CAS with the code word : TAG.

I used the beautiful color scheme on the left for this week's Colour Me for my next card.

Edited to add that I am linking up to the current challenge at Time Out--Birds of a Feather Flock Together.  (Thanks, Sandie).

The topping this week at Seize the Birthday is Washi Tape, so I broke into my newest washi tape purchase from SU to make this card.

I'm playing along at the Card Concept Thank Fall challenge with my next card.  I took a few Distress inks and created a stamped panel using leaves from Autumn Acorns.  Then, I sliced the panel and created 2 cards.

I used this sketch from RetroSketches to create my next card.

All of these cards also satisfy requirements for various challenges in the Hope You Can Cling To card drive at SCS, and I will be sending them all to MD Anderson Cancer Center.  This last card is also part of the HYCCT drive, but not for any other challenges.

That's it for me today.  I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend, especially that extra hour that we gained.
