Weekend Recap

Hello and happy Sunday.  I had the craftiest weekend ever, and have 7 cards to post for a variety of challenges.

First up is a card using this week's technique from Make it Monday #241: Ombre Stencilled background.

I used the new PTI anniversary stamps and dies, Painted Petal to create my card, as well as a new MFT stencil.  I am entering this card at Darnell's NBUS #6 Challenge, as it has 3 NBUSES on it

Next up is another card using Painted Petals--a little more towards my CAS style.

I am entering this card at Just Us Girls #333: Flowers.

How about another floral card with lots of white space?

Inspiration for this card comes from the Poppystamps Challenge #18: Spring Fling.  I used two Poppystamps dies on this card..Grand Flower Box and Groovy Flower.

I had to perform a little bit of surgery on my die cuts to allow the flowers to be a different color from the leaves--kind of like grafting a plant.

I am also entering this card at AAA Cards #59 where the challenge is embossing.  I used Lil Inker Diamond Lace impression plate for my background embossing.  I am also entering this card at Less is More where the challenge is Citrus colors--I've got Orange, Lemon and Lime covered.

I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #226 to make a thank you card for my daughter's soccer team manager.

I used PTI Go for the Goal.   My daughter's school colors are brown and yellow.  I am not kidding. They have had to switch their uniforms to yellow and grey, as they could not even find brown uniforms any more.  My camera has done terrible things to the yellow on this card, which is actually quite bright and pretty IRL.

For my next card, I combined the sketch at Retro Rubber #33 with the Geometric challenge at Inkspirational #103.

The sentiment stamp on this card is probably about 3 years old, as is the SSS Diamond Parade die.

I die cut once from black and again from white, using Copics to color all the different sections in a rainbow of colors.  I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

Still with me?  Early this morning, I saw this card over at Stephanie Lanzalotto's blog, and it reminded me that I have 2 daughters who will probably be getting their drivers licenses before long, and I'd better be prepared with suitable congratulations cards.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday where the challenge is Texture.

And, a slightly different version of the card, this time using the car image (PTI Enjoy the Ride) as a subtle background print.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Monday where the challenge is New Beginnings.  For my daughter as well as me, the freedom to drive (and the freedom FROM driving) will represent a new stage of life for both of us.

Well, that's all for me today.  Thanks for sticking with it for such a long and crafty post.

Four Cards for Thursday

Today I have a card that uses the colors from this week's ColourQ #268 and the sketch from RetroSketches #141.    When I first saw the colors and some of the samples, I was thinking feminine, but after I put my card together, I realized that my design worked better as a masculine card--so I picked a different sentiment that wasn't so ornate.  I'm also entering at Seize the Birthday, without toppings.

After cutting my 3 different colors of card stock with the SSS Diamond Parade die, I stamped them all with the background texture stamp from the same set as my sentiment--PTI's 1960's Stamp A Faire set.

Happy 2nd birthday to Addicted to CAS.  I made a card with my newest owl stamp, this little cutie from Unity called Woo Hoo Owl.  He is perfect for my owl-loving daughter because he has long skinny legs and wears glasses, just like her.  Can you see the Glossy Accents I used to make lenses on the glasses?  I am also entering at Addicted to Stamps #122 for their Make your Mark challenge, as I used Copic markers on my owl.  My daughter is going to Florida tomorrow for a big lacrosse tournament, and I'll be tucking this into her suitcase.

I was inspired by Kristie's card to finally use my No Strings Attached stamp set, and made another card for The Card Concept 23 Krafty Christmas.  I will call my card Clean and Layered.

My last card is for this week's Muse Challenge #94, Paper Players #222 Clean and Simple Thank You, and Simon Says Wednesday challenge thanks or Thanksgiving.  I wanted to follow the basic sketch of the gorgeous inspiration card, and use the technique of overlapping stamped images and inlaid die cutting for the sentiment.  When I stacked up my sentiment and inlaid it back into my stamped panel, topped with the layer cut from the stamped panel, it was really too difficult to read the die cut word, thanks.  So, I left it as a stacked inlay, but did not put the last layer on, which was the layer cut out of the stamped panel.  I added some burlap texture to the card front.

That's it for me today.

CASology Week 106: Rainbow

Hello and happy Tuesday.  It's time for another challenge at CASology.  We have a really fun cue word for you this week--it's RAINBOW.  I had so many ideas for this word.  There are so many fun ways to use rainbows on cards.  In the end, I decided to use a new SSS die that had been patiently sitting on my desk for several weeks.

I used the outline part of the die as an inlay within my card front, and then filled in each of the spaces with rainbow colors.  I added some texture to the card front with the Canvas/Linen Impression plate, a sentiment from Clearly Besotted and a couple of sequins.

Now, it is your turn.  What do you think of when you see the word RAINBOW?  Have some fun with the cue word RAINBOW, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday at noon (CST).
Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by RAINBOW.

Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.
