Dynamic Duos #53

I have a quick card for this week's Dynamic Duos #53:  Pacific Point and Basic Black.  I am on a diet, so did not use the Dessert Option.  The blue in my photo looks like a royal blue, but is actually SU Pacific Point ink--the real deal, part of my recent SU haul.  I was inspired by this card by Ashley Cannon Newell.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Irrestibly Ikat
Paper:  White
Ink:  SU Pacific Point, Versafine Onyx Black

Lil Inkers, Hero Arts, Retro Sketches and Make it Monday

I am playing along with with the Lil Inkers Sunny Day challenge today.  Doesn't their inspiration photo just scream SUMMER.  I am ready for summer, and our weather lately in San Diego has been very  summer-like.  This photo inspired me to dig out my Lil Inkers Pinwheel dies, which were my very first Lil Inkers purchase.  I also used the Instant Camera Die and Stitched Rectangle dies for my card.  I used the sketch from this week's Retro Sketches RS#64.

My daughter will be giving this card to her friend, along with a gift, at her birthday party--so it can be as poofy as I want.  I used a polymer clay button I made a while ago for the centerpiece of the pinwheel.

I was in need of a masculine 'Thinking of You' card this morning, so I whipped up a quick card, casing both Susan's card here and this card of mine from last week.   I will be entering this card at A Blog Named Hero for their CAS challenge and Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge to use your favorite ink.  I have different favorites, depending on what I am doing.  On this card, I used Versafine Onyx Black for the sentiment--this is my very favorite black ink for sentiments, Memento London Fog for the text background--this is my favorite ink for creating subtle backgrounds, and PTI Ocean Tides for the images--this is one of my favorite inks for images on masculine cards.

I finally did a Make it Monday on a Monday.  The topic this week is Paper Piecing, and I used one of the umbrellas from Scattered Showers and some MME On the Sunny Side papers.  I can't take credit for planning it out exactly, but I used the Sunrise Impression plate, and my die cut sun happens to fall right about where the sun rays start on the IP, and it looks pretty cool in person.

Three Cards for Sunday

What, only three cards?  Well, turns out that Rachel got most of her homework done yesterday, and we were able to go swimming this afternoon.  Well, I read my book in the shade, but the kids went swimming.

First up is a card for this week's Monday Mood Board #12 from WPlus9.  I was inspired by the colors and the birthday theme.   I am also linking up to this week's Simon Says...Flower Power challenge.  I used a number of images from WPlus9 Magical Moments, as well as sentiments from Hero Arts and PTI.  I used the Happy Harlequin cover plate from PTI as an impression plate.

My next card is for this week's A Blog Named Hero #24 challenge to create a CAS card and uses the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#28.   I am also entering into this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show:  A Little Paper.

Last up is another card for this week's Fusion Challenge #7, where I am again inspired by the photo.  This card is almost exactly like my earlier entry, but it is an anniversary card.  Today is my 17th anniversary, and I guess I had anniversaries on the brain.

Three for Friday

Happy Friday.  I've got a few projects to share today.  First up is my card for this week's Muse #17, where the Muse is Therese Calvird with this adorable card.  I am also entering this card into this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge CFC101:  Stamp on DP, and this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge to use small pieces of paper.

I thought that Therese's card was just the cutest thing--I was inspired by the cuteness, three animals, and the paper piecing.  All those pretty pastels made me think of a baby card, so that is the direction I went.

I paper pieced those darling foxes, using a tone on tone pattern for the main part, and then used the matching solid for the ears, tip of the tail and those bits around the eyes.  I am embarrassed to admit that I just now remembered that I have dies for this set, and wish I had thought of that when I was doing all that fussy cutting.  Well, I have to say that sometimes I do enjoy a bit of fussy cutting, so no harm done.

My next card is my second entry into this week's Retro Sketches rs#63 challenge, and I used the same stamp as my first card here.  I was stamping white on black to make some chalkboard images to send to Kim, and liked the look so much, I made one for myself.  After stamping in Fresh Snow ink, I smudged some more ink around, and also colored some of the white areas with colored pencils.  I am also entering this card into this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge to use small pieces of paper.

Last for today is a gift tag I made to match this card from yesterday.  I am entering this tag into the Gift Tag Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Color Throwdown #242 and Paper Players #145

When I first saw this week's Color Throwdown CTD242 colors, I was not so sure they would work together.  I decided to do some speech bubbles, as I have seen a lot of this around lately, and I am very pleased with the way the card came together.  I guess this is the benefit of a color challenge--otherwise I would probably make everything pink and orange or blue and green.  I used my Lawn Fawn speech bubble dies and a selection of sentiments from Paper Smooches Chit Chat to make a card to encourage a friend.

My next card is a very exciting milestone for me--the first time I have ever played with The Paper Players.  I had never heard of this challenge, and then saw two cards yesterday on some blogs that I follow with this awesome color scheme, and decided to play along myself.  I will definitely play again. I just love this pencil image--from Happy Trails, and who doesn't need some extra thank you cards at the end of the school year.

My Newest Flower Set and A Bat Mitzvah Card

I made a card with my newest Flower set, Pretty Poppies from MFT.  I am entering it into the following challenges:  Dynamic Duos DD#52, using the colors from DD#23, CASology #44 where the cue word is 'bloom' and Simon Says...Flower Power. What do you think of that orange ink?  It is Orange Fizz from MFT, and it is so pretty in person--almost like a toned down Orange Zest.

My next card is not for any challenge. What???  We received an invitation to the Bat Mitzvah of the daughter of one of Peter's college buddies.  Too bad we can't attend, but it is in New York the same weekend as Sarah's 8th grade graduation.  The invitation had some beautiful shimmer papers all layered together.  I pulled it all apart and used those papers to make her a card.  I stamped the inside, too, but forgot to take a picture of that, and the card has already been sent.
