Four Cards for Five Challenges

I am in love with this week's ColourQ colors.  They are so bright, fresh and happy.  When I saw Tracey's inspiration card for this challenge, I knew I needed to CASE it immediately.  I will also be linking this card up to this week's CAS-ual Fridays birthday challenge, as well as this week's Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

A  recent house guest sent us a wonderful cookbook from Cook's Illustrated--we had been discussing it over dinner during his stay.   I decided to use my new Serendipity Books stamp to make him a thank you card.  This is one of the stamps I picked as part of my prize package a few weeks ago, and I used this stamp to make a background, which is this week's challenge over at SSCB#10.  I tried to make this thank you card as masculine as possible--kraft, brown, woodgrain, no bows, glitter, or gemstones--check.  I thought the books image was perfect for a thank you for the gift of a book.

My last card is for this week's Make it Monday #113:  Perfect Pearls.  I was happy to see this video, since I had bought a little container of Perfect Pearls some time ago, but never knew how to use them.  While I am not in love with the card I made, I am glad that I broke out this powder, and am encouraged to start playing around more with it in the future.

As you can see, it is a bit difficult to photograph, but it does have a nice shimmer in person.  Here is a close up:

My last cad is for this week's 10 Minute Craft Dash #16.  The sponsor this week is Avery Elle, so I broke out 2 of my newest Avery Elle sets--Link it Up and Fanfare.  This card took me 7 minutes 17 seconds.  I will also be linking this card up to this week's CAS-ual Fridays birthday challenge.

Make it Monday #72

I have some cards for this week's Make-it-Monday #72:  Step-it-Up Embellishments.  I didn't stray too far from the video, because I really wanted to play with my new Lovely Layers set.

Here is the first card:

The second card--with just a bit more layering, including embossed vellum:

The third card--even more layers:

This is a very fun technique, and it was good to play with my new stamp set.

Clean and Simple Watercolor Blocking

All my house guests are gone, and I had a chance today to make a card for Friday's class.  The official topic was watercolor blocking, but I had to modify that a bit, given the supplies I had on hand.  I have quite a few colors of Distress Ink, but have never used them for anything other than normal stamping.  The simple technique outlined in today's lesson showed me how to use those inks with water.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Turning a New Leaf, a big thank you
Paper:  Strathmore Watercolor
Other:  Embossing Powder, Distress Inks--Peeled Paint, Dusty Concord, Fired Brick, sponge

Sending You Thanks

I just had to pop in with another quick post, my second post of the day.  I was so excited to receive this 'Thank You" set in my Papertrey package last night.  Even though I was eagerly awaiting all the items I had ordered, I just had to pull out this stamp and use it right away.  I think it looks really nice with Canyon Clay.

I think I have the beginnings of a 'thank you' set.  Here it is using Amuse Currant ink and Scarlet Jewel Paper.  This stamp looks like it was designed for the Mat Stack #5, doesn't it?

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  a big thank you
Paper:  Canyon Clay, Scarlet Jewel, Rustic Cream
Other:  Mat Stack #5 Die, Woodgrain IP
