Time Out #80...Reminder...You're a Super Star

There is still time to play along with our current challenge at Time Out.  Our challenge this time is inspired by words:

'When it rains look for rainbows, when it's dark look for stars'

I combined the idea of stars and rainbows on my card.  I used the Dangled Stars die by PTI, cut my stars from white card stock, and used Copic markers to create my rainbow.

I am entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #236: Anything Goes and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Make a Rainbow.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our Design Team and Guest Designer. Our Guest Designer this week is Marilyn, so please stop by her blog to see what she has created for this challenge.  Uniko is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run another week.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

My Crafty Sunday

I had lots of crafty time today, and a lot to show for it.  So, I'd better get right to it.  I actually made made my first card last night.  It is my entry into this week's 10 Minute Craft Dash #21 to feature stars, as well as Simon Says...Patriotic.  I used the Bead Die to cut red, white, and blue paper wedges, and then ran them all through with the Stars Impression Plate.

A close up so you can see the impressed stars.  Total time 9 minutes 43 seconds.  Yikes!

My next card is for this week's Retro Sketches RS #71.  I used the AE Balloon Animal and some papers from MME Hootenanny, which I got on sale last week.  I covered the entire balloon animal in Glossy Accents, and used a bit of Washi tape in place of the ribbon accent.

Edited to add that I am linking this card up to the Mixy-Matchy Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Next up is my card of the day for this week's A Blog Named Hero Playing Favorites Challenge.  My favorite Hero Arts stamp today is Dogwood, and oh, do I love this stamp.  I was inspired by a design I saw a while back on Simplicity,   I played around with various muted shades for this card, trying to find ones that worked together and gave the feeling of serenity I was going for.  I ended up with HA Wet Cement for the flowers, Versafine Smokey Grey for the sentiment, and Smokey Shadow paper for the scalloped border.

Hold on to your hats, because the next three cards are not for any challenges at all.  They are just things I felt like making as I was playing around with some of my newest purchases.

This first card uses a stamp from MFT Mod Borders.  I stamped a sort of random pattern with the triangle strip, and then colored in the open triangles with copic markers.  The sentiment is cut with Headline Alphabet dies using Black Shimmer Paper.

I think this might be my favorite of the bunch.  I started playing around with WMS Funky Feathers and my new Memento Teal Zeal ink, and came up with this pattern.

This is my last card for the day--more playing around with WMS Funky Feathers--this time I made a square card, and the feathers are topped with a die cut flower from Bigger blooms, using SU Crisp Cantaloupe ink.  I bought this ink as a substitute for PTI Melon Berry, and it is a very good match--only a little prettier, in my opinion.

I am also linking this post up to Stacey's Birthday Linky Party, as there are lots of birthday cards here for the party.

'Manning-Up' the Muse

I have a card for this week's Muse Challenge #20, where our inspiration is Laurie Willison with this pretty card.

Since I am in Father's Day and all things masculine mode lately, I have kept the layout and changed things up a bit to make a Father's Day card.  I used darker and more masculine hues of some of the same colors, changed the images to stars, and used twine instead of a ribbon.  In place of bling, I glued a tiny die cut star in the center of each star, and covered it with Glossy Accents.

I am also entering this card into the following additional challenges:

ColourQ #190 and CAS(E) this Sketch #29

Father's Day must be around the corner, because my favorite color challenges are featuring all these yummy masculine colors this week.  I am taking advantage of all this inspiration to get some Father's Day cards made.

I really love the colors in this week's ColourQ cQc#190, and used them on both of my cards today.  My first card is a CASE of Tracey's award winning card from CAS(E) this Sketch last week.  Change the colors to a manly palette, turn the butterflies into stars, and done.

My next card uses the same color scheme and the sketch from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#29.   My May PTI order arrived this afternoon, and I had to pull out my little triangles right away.

Ink:  Enchanted Evening, Terracotta Tile, SU Baja Breeze, More Mustard

Second Card

Make it Monday #98--Take 3

They say the third time is a charm, and today I think that is very true.  I've got my third attempt at this week's MIM #98:  Chalkboard Technique, and I think this is where I will rest.  Although it almost broke my heart to smudge white ink around on this card, I am finally happy with the result.  I used 8 different stamp sets on this card, a first for me.

Stamps:  Say it With Style, Tiny Treats:  Birthday, Just the Ticket, Mixed Messages, Birthday Bash Sentiments, Tag-it's, Star Prints, Hero Arts Birthday Messages
Paper:  Ocean Tides, White
Ink:  Versamark

CASology #24 and RetroSketches #42

Popping in quickly to share two cards.  The first one is for this week's CASology #24, where the key word is 'Star'.  I immediately thought to pull out Star Prints, which is kind of new to me.  I also added a few stars from the Tag it's set.  I die cut part of the star from the front panel, and replaced it with the red star in the negative space.  The front panel is raised, but the red star is not.

CASology #24

Next up is a card for RetroSketches #42.  Here is the sketch.

I found this sketch to be trickier than I originally thought.  I tried a number of things before settling on this card.  Still not quite sure if I like the card, but I know I love that cute mitten paper.

Casadia

Last week, I stumbled upon Wida's blog, Beachorado,  and learned that she was in the midst of a very fun project.  She and lots of her friends had embarked on a CASing adventure that she called CASADIA.  In this game, each person has cased the card of the person in front of them.  You can see the chain below.  It's almost like a game of telephone, as the cards migrate further and further away from the original card.  As you look at all these incredible cards, you can see who made the card, and you can click on their name to go to their blogs to see more about how their card was made.

Wida was kind enough to let me play along, so scroll down to see what I came up with:

Laura Bassen

Are you still with me?  Here is my card, that I cased from this card above by Julie:

Brighter Skies (by me)

I loved Julie's paper pieced umbrella, clouds and supportive sentiment, so that is the direction I took my card in.  I had just returned from Michaels with a brand new MME Reunion 6X6 paper pad, so I used those papers in my card, along with an umbrella from  Scattered Showers, and the Heart 2 Heart stamp set.

Well, this card is pretty far from where we started with the original card.  I remembered seeing that card when it was first posted, and wanted to see if I could case that one, too.  Here is what I came up with:

Happy Birthday

My card is a fun and colorful take on Laura Bassen's original card.  I went with a sentiment in the negative space behind a die cut, and used colored twine on the side for the buttons.

CASADIA has been great fun.  Thanks, Wida, for allowing me to play along.  If you would like to join in on the fun, please click here to get in touch with Wida.
