2 Cards and a Bookmark

Popping in to share a few things I have made while under 'house arrest' in California.

First up, a card to celebrate happier times, which I hope will not be too long away.  I was inspired by the sketch at MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #482, Addicted to CAS #181: Texture, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Next up is a card inspired by the challenge at Just Add Ink #498:  Just add "E".  I made an Encouragement card, one of many I plan to make and send to friends in the coming days.

I am also entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #382: Make Your Mark, as I colored this stamp with colored pencils.

.

Last up is a bookmark I made using the Hero Arts Bookcase stamp.  The challenge at A Blog Named Hero is Anything But a Card, so it seemed fitting to make a bookmark with this fun stamp.  I took my inspiration for the colors from the inspiration photo at Just Us Girls #529.

Well, that's it for me today.  I'm almost done with the mystery/thriller 'The Woman in Cabin 10' and I must get back to it to see how it ends.

Make it Monday #99: Take 6 and CAS-ual Fridays #85

This is my 6th card for this week's Make it Monday #99:  Repeats & Rainbows.  I used color scheme #5.   I am also submitting this card for this week's CAS-ual Friday's CFC #85:  Round of Applause.  The challenge there is to make a card that celebrates an achievement and uses at least one circle.

I used an image from Background Basics Retro that I don't think I have every used before.  Nestled amidst the diamonds are lots and lots of circles.  The star is coated in several layers of UTEE, and popped up with foam tape.

I have now used all 6 of the rainbow color schemes given in this week's Make it Monday.  I have had a great time playing with color this week.  I think I'll move on to something else, but I know I will use these color schemes again.  There is still time for you to play along, and there is a free printable download of all the color schemes here.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  Background Basics Retro, Star Prints, Say it With Style
Paper:  White, Canyon Clay
Ink:  Scarlet Jewel, Autumn Rose, Canyon Clay, Summer Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse
Other:  UTEE, rhinestones, Striped Impression Plate, Star Dies, Pinking Border Die

Casadia

Last week, I stumbled upon Wida's blog, Beachorado,  and learned that she was in the midst of a very fun project.  She and lots of her friends had embarked on a CASing adventure that she called CASADIA.  In this game, each person has cased the card of the person in front of them.  You can see the chain below.  It's almost like a game of telephone, as the cards migrate further and further away from the original card.  As you look at all these incredible cards, you can see who made the card, and you can click on their name to go to their blogs to see more about how their card was made.

Wida was kind enough to let me play along, so scroll down to see what I came up with:

Laura Bassen

Are you still with me?  Here is my card, that I cased from this card above by Julie:

Brighter Skies (by me)

I loved Julie's paper pieced umbrella, clouds and supportive sentiment, so that is the direction I took my card in.  I had just returned from Michaels with a brand new MME Reunion 6X6 paper pad, so I used those papers in my card, along with an umbrella from  Scattered Showers, and the Heart 2 Heart stamp set.

Well, this card is pretty far from where we started with the original card.  I remembered seeing that card when it was first posted, and wanted to see if I could case that one, too.  Here is what I came up with:

Happy Birthday

My card is a fun and colorful take on Laura Bassen's original card.  I went with a sentiment in the negative space behind a die cut, and used colored twine on the side for the buttons.

CASADIA has been great fun.  Thanks, Wida, for allowing me to play along.  If you would like to join in on the fun, please click here to get in touch with Wida.

Encouragement for a Triathlon: Swimming

One of my best friends is training for her first triathalon.  She is training with 'Team in Training' and is competing to honor her brother, who recently won his battle with lymphoma.  You can find out more here.

This is the third in a series of cards I am sending her.  The first card was to encourage her for her 10k run.  The second card was to encourage her for the 40k bike ride.  This last card is to encourage her for the 1.5 k ocean swim.

Here is the card I made for her:

I decided to use the Team in Training official colors, which are teal and purple.  This card is a CASE of one of the PTI DT's cards posted during the introduction of this stamp set.

I hope she sees how cute the whale is, and how effortlessly she is swimming through the big ocean waves.  The event is next weekend, so this week marks the end of all the training.  I know she will do great.  I wish I could be there in person to cheer her on, but it is too far away, so I am doing it via mail (and phone).

Supplies Used (all Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted):
Stamps:  Whale Wishes, Background Basics:  Retro, Polka Dot Basics II
Paper:  Royal Velvet, Bazzil Blue Calypso
Other:  Whale die, Rickrack border die, Cloud die, Clear embossing powder

One of my best friends is training for her first triathalon.  She is training with 'Team in Training' and is competing to honor her brother, who recently won his battle with lymphoma.  You can find out more here.

Here is the card I made for her:

One of the interests she and I share is reading, so I made her a matching bookmark to use during those spare moments when she is not training.

Encouragement for a Triathlon: Running

One of my best friends is training for her first triathalon.  She is training with 'Team in Training' and is competing to honor her brother, who recently won his battle with lymphoma.  You can find out more here.

I am completely intimidated by her training schedule.  It makes me tired just to read about it.  I thought I would send her a series of cards to encourage her for each part of the triathlon.  This first card is for the 10k.  So, she will run 6.3 miles, after swimming 1.5k in the ocean and then biking 40k.  Are you tired yet?

I have an idea for the card for the biking portion of the triathlon, but am stumped for a card to encourage the ocean swim.  If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Supplies Used (All PTI unless otherwise indicated)
Stamps:  Clear Dollar Tennis set (for the running shoe), All Star Additions
Paper:  White, New Leaf, Smokey Shadow
Other:  Double Ended Banner Die, Numbers Die, SU border punch, Sizzix Sizzlets Wet Paint alphabet die
