CASology Week #174: Owl

This is my second post for today.  If you are looking for my ColourQ post,  please click here.  Oh, and if you haven't toured my craft room yet, click here.  What are you waiting for?

Hello and happy Tuesday.  Time for another challenge at CASology.  This week, our cue word is Owl.

Some of you may know that I am a bit nutty for owls, mostly because my daughter loves owls.  I have so many owl stamps that it was really difficult to chose just one for this challenge.

I ended up choosing to use one of my Lawn Fawn owls for this card, and stamped him peeking his little owl head into the frames of a film strip.  I colored the owls with Copics, and traced the outline with a T1 marker--I think it gives a little bit of depth to the image.

Now, it's your turn.  How does Owl inspire you?  I hope you play along this week. Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

We are sponsored this week by Concord & 9th.

4 Cards on Sunday

Happy Sunday.  I've been in and out of my craftroom for the last couple of days--crafting between cooking soft foods and nursing my daughter who is recovering from getting her wisdom teeth out.  I finally have a moment to post what I have been working on.

First up is this delicious looking triple decker ice cream cone, made using the Ombre Stamping Technique from Make it Monday #208.  It's been hot here, and this ice cream would really hit the spot.

I am also linking this card up at Addicted to Stamps and More #139 for their CAS challenge and Seize the Birthday without toppings.

I just got this fabulous Bella Blvd owl paper and chose the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #181 as a great way to highlight the paper.  Normally I would hoard paper this cute, but I was smart this time and bought a sheet to use and a sheet to hoard.

I am also entering this card Simon Says Monday A is for...Apple.

The sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #118 and the colors at Color Throwdown #337 inspired my next card.

I am also entering this card at Simply Create Too #83 to use no digis or stamped images.

Last up is a card I made using a new SU stamp that I just got during their latest sale.  I think I inked this one up within 24 hours of receiving it.  I was originally trying to follow the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, but the card seemed to have its own mind and evolved in a different direction.

The background is Super Gingham by PTI and the flower is Hey There Buds by SU.  I stamped the flower in green, on the die cut rectangle, and then again in Pale Tomato on a scrap of white.  I fussy cut all the flowers and adhered them with varying levels of foam tape to have some variety in the dimension.

I am linking this card up at Virginia's View #14, AAA Cards #37 Springtime, Simon Says Wednesday Spring Flowers, and The Divas that Cut In the Garden Challenge for April.

That's it for me today.  Off to watch some soccer.

Sympathy and Two Owls

TGIF, right?  Happy Friday.  I am looking forward to a very quiet weekend.  DH and my youngest daughter are away for a soccer tournament, so it is just me and my oldest until very late Sunday night.

I was inspired to pull out my Paper Smooches Botanicals sets by this card by Angela over at AAA Cards #35.  I really like how she added purple to her design.  She used flowers and I decided to use dragonflies.

I am also entering this card at Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes, Addicted to CAS #59:  Green, and Simon Says Wednesday Spring Pinterest Challenge.

My next card was a complete mistake that I decided I really liked.  I started by inking up the WRONG side of a new Darice embossing folder.  I ended up with a bunch of smudges on the back side, but nothing on the raised side.  I decided to try an ink roller on the raised side of the embossed paper.  Roll, roll.  Oops, there was some blue ink on the roller already that I didn't notice.  It mixed with the Hawaiian Shores ink I intended to use.  Roll roll--hey, I guess I am not supposed to roll on the top of the card, where there is no raised surface.  And, the roller was missing ink in the places that were raised at the bottom of the card--so the top has all these sort of ghosted images.  After pulling it out of the trash and studying it a while, I decided it was kind of cool, and perhaps I have invented a new technique.  End of story.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Monday to use an animal, and Addicted to Stamping #136: Anything Goes.

Last up is a card inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #115 and the challenge at Less is More #215 to make a one layer card using an animal.  It is a bit hard to see, but some of the action on this card occurs on the inside of the card.

I pulled out a bunch of Lawn Fawn sets and pulled bits and pieces from several different sets.  I used Distress inks for some of my stamping and also to water color some of the images.  I am also entering this card at Lawnscaping Distress AddictsSimon Says Monday to use an animal, and  AAA Cards #35 Bare Naked CAS.

More Mini Inspiration

I have had so much fun seeing everyone's mini creations this week on the CASology challenge blog. I was inspired to pull out a tiny little stamp set that a kind person included as a gift when I bought a stamp set from her.  I don't even know the name of this little set, but I was happy to finally ink it up.

I made a little set of 4 mini cards.  Each card is 2 1/4 inch square.  I used the two smallest MFT diagonal stitched square dies to create a frame for each mini image.  The images are all just under 1 inch square.

You can better see the size of this mini card in this picture, next to a card I made for this week's Less is More Birds challenge.  Unfortunately, I missed the deadline for Less is More, but it was still fun to ink up this new Owl stamp from Unity I ordered a few months back.  I colored it with Prisma pencils and added some glossy accents on the eyes and hat.

Here are my mini cards all together.

Do you have any tiny stamps that need to see some ink?  I hope I have inspired you to make something small and cute to play along with us at CASology this week.

I am also linking up at Simon Says Monday No Rules and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

Flowers and Owls

I've got three colorful cards to post today.  First up is another entry into Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes challenge using Blossoming Buds.  I cannot seem to stop using these flowers.  My card is a CASE of this card Kim made on her crafting get away.  I am also entering this card at HYCCT Tilted Layers challenge.

I stamped and die cut one of the flower groupings three times, colored them in, then adhered them along the tilted edge of my front panel.  I lined two of the die cuts up against the edge, and cut some of the leaves off the third piece and layered it over the place where the other two met.

Next up is a card for this fun owl inspiration photo, hosted by Inkspirational Challenges.  I have never heard of this challenge, but I saw this photo in a couple of places over the last few days, checked it out, and decided to play along, and just in the nick of time, too.

I think it is pretty obvious where my inspiration came from.  I stamped all 9 owls using Versamark, embossed in clear, and then used a rainbow of different Distress inks sponged over each owl.

My last card is inspired by the Simon Says Wednesday Thinking of You challenge as well as the HYCCT Fault in Our Stars challenge.

I seem to be on a bit of a coloring binge lately--this is my latest purchase from Stampin Up--Corner Garden.  Again, I have found a stamp set where the flowers are all arranged for me, and all I need to do is stamp and color.
