Paint Chips and a Bookmark

I was inspired to pull out my paint chips by the Ombre challenge at AAA Cards #110 this week.  Once I had them out, I had great fun playing around with them, and ended up with three cards.

I started with a palette of blues, and used a MFT die to cut out the word 'hugs'.  I stacked a few die cuts under this for dimension, and then added the rest of the sentiment from PTI Big Hugs.  I am also entering this card at Less is More #366: Monochrome.

Next, I took another paint chip of various shades of teal, and die cut the word 'birthday' and also some balloons.  I followed the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #262.  I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday: Anything Goes.

For my last paint chip card, I stacked the die cut letters left over from my first card, and then laid them out on the diagonal, surrounded by some flowers.  I laid everything out on a die cut with diagonal stripes from Lil Inkers, so I could be sure everything was spaced evenly.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge:  Girl Power.

I also have a bookmark to share--it is two sided and incorporates my new PTI Lilies of the Valley stamps as well as a couple of miscellaneous sentiments.  I am entering this bookmark at The Flower Challenge #18: Anything Goes and The Paper Players #383: Spring Has Sprung.

Some Cards and Bookmarks

Hello and happy Saturday.  Hope your weekend is going well.

I've got 2 cards and a bunch of bookmarks to share today.  I finally got a chance to pull out some of my Altenew stamps and play along in their gigantic Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop.  I was inspired by the Fall Floral graphic at Curtain Call.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Clean and Simple.

Something a little different for me--I inked up an old impression plate and used it to dry emboss a card front.  I just love the detail in the Mehndi impression plate, and the ink makes it so easy to see. My sentiment--stamp and die--are from PTI Pretty Peonies which is 4 years old.

I am entering this card at Retro Rubber #47: Anything Goes and Addicted to Stamps and More #211: Anything Goes.

Last up is a bunch of bookmarks I made, using Avery Elle This Book.  I just had fun masking, stamping and coloring.  I will be entering the first bookmark at The Card Concept #57: Rainbow. Honestly, I have no idea how to categorize the style.

Here are the fronts of the batch cut from the PTI Bookmark Die

And, here are the backs

Here are a couple more, using different bookmark dies.

PTI 6th Anniversary Challenge and Make it Monday #103

Today's contest for Papertrey's 6th Anniversary is to create a tag or wrap based on a photo inspiration.  I did not need to look farther than Dawn's blog today to get my inspiration.

Dawn's Project

I love how she used the chocolate bar and the fun sentiment from Foodie Fun.  I made a tag that can go on a Valentines gift for DH.

I made another tag, this one a bit closer to Dawn's, that would work for a friend's birthday.  This is one of my very favorite sentiments of all.  I am so glad that it is true.

I have two bookmarks for this week's Make it Monday #103:  Die Cut Double Up.  I cut a bookmark out of white card stock.  Then, die cut my daughters' names out of that die cut.  I backed it with very slender rainbow stripes and then another solid bookmark.  We are big readers in this house, and even though we have Kindles and Nooks, we still need book marks.  I think I will make one for me if I have time tomorrow.

That's it for today.  Hopefully, I'll have some more tomorrow.  My oldest headed off for a school trip to Spain this morning, and while I was looking forward to a full day of crafty time without any interruptions, I think I packed my mojo in her suitcase.  Let's hope it returns before she does.

Make it Monday: All Booked Up Birthday

This week's Make-it Monday #47:  2011 A La Carte provides a summary of all the Make-it Monday videos and techniques of the past year.  I am playing along, trying to get to some of the ones I may have missed.  Today, I have a card for MIM #3:  Glitter Strips with Scor Tape.  I am using the color scheme of this week's cQc #118.  I was inspired by the PTI Senior Design team revisit of All Booked Up to make a card and matching bookmark for a friend from my book club whose birthday is next week.

This was the first time I inked up Dot Spot.  I don't know why I waited so long.  This set will definitely get more use in the future.

Here are a couple of the bookmarks I made using this color scheme.  I liked the one that emphasized the red the best, so I made the card to coordinate with that one.

Supplies Used (PTI):
Stamps:  All Booked Up, Dot Spot, Verve Circular Sayings
Paper:  White, Pure Poppy
Other:  Bookmark Die, Scor Tape, MS Glitter, Misc Ribbons
