Retro Rubber #193...Guest Designer...Happy Birthday

Today I am so happy to be playing along with one of my favorite challenges, Retro Rubber, as their Guest Designer.  I love this challenge because it reminds me to look through my stash for some older stamps I may have forgotten about.

Because I am guest designer, I decided to pick one of the oldest of my oldies....PTI Dot Spot.  This set is so old that it is in a CD case.  I'm thinking more than 10 years.  I pulled out out and was reminded all over again about why I love this stamp set so much.  I did a bit of inlaid die cutting, an old technique that I haven't used in quite a while.

3 Cards for Sunday

My first card today was inspired by many of the PTI DT cards promoting Fence Line Autumn, including this one by Amy Sheffer.  It reminded me that I need to pull out Fence Line Summer and ink it up.  I am entering this card at PTI Create Along With Us.

I used the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch #285 and the colors from Just Us Girls #454 for my next card.  I used one of my oldest and most favorite PTI stamp sets, Dot Spot and some stamps from Kim's Crafty Friends set.

Last up is a card using a stamp from the July My Monthly Hero kit.  I created a blended sky and then stamped 2 of the images from that set.  I heat embossed them using Black Sparkle embossing powder.  It's hard to see the sparkle in this photo, but it is very sparkly in person.  I am entering this card at A Blog Named Hero: Sparkle & Shine and also Seize the Birthday:  Anything Goes.

Birthdays and Babies

I am sneaking away from Superbowl commercials to post three cards I made this weekend.  I'll be brief...

First up is a card that combines a brand new stamp and die (Celebrate) with one of my oldest favorite (Dot Spot).  I am playing along with CAS(E) This Sketch #207,  Inkspirational #127: Polka Dots, and Happy Little Stampers February CAS Challenge:  Blue.

With this next card, I am playing along, for the first time (I think) with MFT Color Challenge #62Simon Says Monday Pet's Corner and Addicted to CAS #104: Pets.  Now, I realize that elephants are a very non traditional pet, but these were the dies I really wanted to use, and I am sure that there is someone somewhere with a couple of pet elephants.

Last up is a card inspired by the sketch at Just Add Ink #345 and the colors at Color Throwdown #428.

That's it for me this week.

Three Cards for Sunday

I have three cards to share today.  First up is a card inspired by the colors at ColourQ #300, where they are celebrating their 300th challenge.  I pulled out an old favorite, Dot Spot and paired it with a brand new to me die--birthday by Mama Elephant.  After stamping, I die cut the word 'birthday' out of my stamped panel as well as a few more out of Hawaiian Shores card stock.

I inlaid the stack of birthday die cuts and then added the second part of my sentiment, wishes stamped on a scrap and popped up with foam tape.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Monday Challenge:  I scream for Inlaid diecuts and Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

My next card uses the technique taught at this week's Make it Monday #218: Watercolors with die cut stencils.   I die cut the word 'wish' out of water color paper, used temporary adhesive to attach it to my card front, stamped the rest of my sentiment, and then water colored a rainbow over that area. Texture from the Sunshine Impression plate and sparkle and shine with some clear sequins and bling finish off the card.

I am also entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #154 CAS and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Sparkle & Shine.

My last card is inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #133 and the colors at Color Throwdown #352.  I used Enclosed Super Star stamps and dies, and my MISTI really helped me get everything perfectly lined up.  I used a cover plate I completely forgot about to add some textured stars to my card front.

That's it for me.

Birthday, Sympathy and Anniversary

Hello there.  I have three cards to share today, and they are for lots and lots of different challenges. First up is a graphic birthday card.  I had a lot of fun piecing this one together--kind of like a puzzle.

The challenge this week at Simon Says Monday is to use any one Simon Says Stamp brand product, so I pulled out the Mod Circle Frame Die and the Sending and Wishing stamp set to make this birthday card.  I cut the Mod Circle Frame die in each color, and used 3 layers of black for the 'wishing' word.  I used the colors at ColourQ #291 and am also entering at Seize the Birthday with toppings:  use the negative, Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge Die Cuts / Punches and AAA Cards #39 birthday extravaganza.

I used the serene color scheme at the Paper Players #244 as my inspirational jumping off point for my next card.  These colors said 'sympathy card' to me, so that is the direction I went.  I started by sponging Distress Cracked Pistachio ink through a screen stencil on to Sahara Sand card stock.  I stamped my bird image (from PTI Iconic Images) in WPlus9 Ocean Drive ink on the stenciled area, and then added my sentiment.  Looked a little too stark, so I impressed it with a woodgrain impression plate.

I am also entering this card at Addicted to CAS #63 Birds, Addicted to Stamps and More #144 CAS, and CAS on Sunday #58 Cheer Up, Buttercup.

And, I am still making anniversary cards for my mom.  Here is one I made using the sketch at Happy Little Stampers--I know I keep using this sketch, but it is a very fun one and quite versatile.  I pulled out an old favorite stamp for this one--remember PTI Dot Spot?  I paired it with Wet Paint and Happy Everything for a fun mod look.

I discovered a new-to-me challenge at Craft Stamper Take it Make it May Challenge Anything Goes: must use a stamp, so I am playing along there for the first time today.
