My Crafty Weekend

Hello and happy Sunday.  I am starting out today with a group of cards initially inspired by this card I saw during the MFT release this week.  Of course, I had to buy that fabulous background stamp, but it also inspired me to bring out an older Hero Arts background stamp (Urban Skyline Bold Prints) I have had for a while.  I pulled out an even older Hero Arts stamp (Owl Christmas) and made this card.

I stamped my background in black, and then heat embossed it also in black, to get a really dark and crisp background.  I stamped and fussy cut my little owls, and then colored their bodies with Copics.  There were parts of the owls that stamped black, but I wanted them to be red, so I stamped the owls again in red, and then just cut and past the red bits on to my colored owls.

I am entering this card at Stay Crafty with Hero #14: Critters and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Humorus/Fun.

My next card uses that  same Urban Skyline background stamp, this time stamped in Hawaiian Shores ink then clear embossed.  I cut the background into thirds, per the challenge at Just Us Girls #553 and added some cute pups from Hero Arts Birthday Paw-ty.  I am entering this card at Stay Crafty with Hero #14: Critters, AAA Birthday #17: Animals & Critters, Seize the Birthday #199 : no topping, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Humorus/Fun and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Use Your Favorite Stamp (I love the cute puppies and great sentiments in this set, and seem to pull it out all the time).

And, now a card with the MFT City Block Background stamp--the one that inspired most of my crafting.  I white heat embossed this background stamp onto kraft, then added my white bit to hold my focal image and sentiment.  I had to do a bit of masking and taping to get my sentiment to be on 2 lines instead of 1, because I didn't have room otherwise.

My colors are inspired by MFT Color Challenge #149.  I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday #199 : no topping, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Humorus/Fun (love the punny sentiment) and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Use Your Favorite Stamp (this City Block Background is my new favorite stamp).

My next card also uses the City Block Background stamp and is inspired by CAS Colours & Sketches #387.  This time, I water colored the different houses.  Because this background stamp is 6X6, I can use it vertically or horizontally.  I didn't know that when I bought it, but it is such a nice surprise.  I will also enter this card at Seize the Birthday #199 : no topping.

I discovered this fun ice cream cone die in my stash when I was looking for something else.  I bought this die quite a while back---when PTI was still a thing! and I don't think I have ever used it.  It seems perfect for  Seize the Birthday #199: Die Cuts Only, optional stamped sentiment.  I never found the other thing I was looking for, mostly because this shiny object distracted me, and now I can't remember what I was originally looking for.  Please tell me this happens to you too.

I decided to use some papers with really tiny polka dots and made a slim line card, for the sole purpose of being able to have a triple decker ice cream.

Last up today is a CAS holiday card, and I am entering this card at ABC Christmas Challenge: S is for Snow.  I used Snowflakes by Reverse Confetti.

Thanks for Visiting

  1. A very productive weekend, and so much cuteness! I like both your cityscape backgrounds - how nice that they stamp "opposite', if you know what I mean. For your snowy card, is that a PTI plate? (I have it as a hand-me-down, and have never been certain...) Such a pretty CAS card with the pops of colour. Thanks for joining in at Seize the Birthday, Just Us Girls and ABC Christmas Challenge!
