Get Well Soon

I am playing along with this week's CR84FN color challenge of red, brown and kraft.  I just love this color combination.  This card is headed to one of my mother-in-laws, who just confessed to having a bit of surgery last week.

I made the flower using the Bloom Builders die on a piece of rustic white paper stamped with Background Basics: Newsprint in SU Real Red ink.  You can't really tell what is on those petals, but I think it just looks a little more interesting.  I embossed the sentiment on the bottom of the card to give it a little more pop.

Here is a peek at the inside of the card:

Come back again later.  I'll have another card with a different take on the same color challenge.

Supplies Used (PTI unless otherwise noted):
Stamps:  Button Boutique, Simple Sentiments, Background Basics:  Newsprint, Think Big Favorites
Paper:  Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate, Kraft, Rustic White
Other:   Dies:  Button Boutique, Bloom Builders, Doily (courtesy of Cathy), XL Rick Rack, Woodgrain IP

Giant Chocolate Bar Party Favors

Rachel and I made favors for her 14th birthday party.  She did most of the work.  We started with some colorful papers I got on sale at Michaels.  I cut them to size to cover those giant Hershey bars.  Then, she picked ink colors she liked and used the Alpha Blocks stamps and dies.  She arranged her friends' names on the wrappers, and decorated with a variety of flora doodle flowers.  They are very similar to the favors we made for her sister's birthday party this summer.

She has outgrown many of the types of party favors we have had in previous years.  Good thing a girl will never outgrow chocolate.  There is something so fun to a kid about a giant bar of chocolate.

Smile

I am playing along with this week's CAS-ual Friday's, challenge to create a card inspired by the following quote:  "Every day you spend without a smile is a lost day".

I decided to use my new pinwheel die, because every time I use it, it makes me smile.  I made the 'stick' of the pinwheel a line of smiles.  The sentiment is from PTI Hello Friend.

Supplies Used (PTI unless otherwise noted):
Stamps: Tiny Tags, Hello Friend
Paper:  Aqua Mist, White, Echo Park A Walk in the Park
Other:  Double Ended Banner Die, Sunshine Impression Plate, Lil' Inker Pinwheel die, Fiskars Upper Crest Punch

Notepad Holder

Rachel is getting a little home made surprise for her birthday this weekend.  She has told me many times that her all time favorite patterned paper is this pink and brown striped paper I used on a bookmark for her a while back.  I have no idea where I got the paper (probably Michael's or Jo-Ann's) and have never seen it again.  I took the last little bits, and made her this notepad holder.  I hope she uses it to keep herself a bit more organized....

I used PTI bloom builders dies to cut flowers out of felt, and topped the flower off with a home made button, made from polymer clay.

I stamped little images in pink on each of the pages.  Each page is a different surprise.

The Right Shoes

A good friend of mine has a birthday coming up.  She is super glamorous, gorgeous and sophisticated, and is into shoes--very high heeled shoes.  We are spending her birthday together getting pampered at the spa at La Costa next week, and I made her this card:

Here is a peek at the inside:

This was a fun card to make, because I pulled stuff from all over my craft room.  Also, because I wasn't playing along with any challenges, I had to think of everything myself(!).

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  CSS Just My Style, PTI Green Thumb, Botanical Silhouettes & Christmas Labels, IO Houndstooth CAC
Paper:  PTI White, True Black & Kraft, SU Real Red
Other:  PTI Dies:  Mat Stack #1, XL Rickrack, Christmas Labels, CSS Just My Style Die, SU Houndstooth Embossing Folder

Can We Eat the Cake Now?

I am participating in my first Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.  My dear friend Cathy from the Empty Nest Crafter has been encouraging me for a while.  She has even gone so far as to order stamps for me, and to send me a huge envelope full of her stamped images for me to use.  So, I am taking the plunge, and here it is--I made a tag for my daughter's upcoming 14th birthday.  I used images from Eat Cake for this tag.  I just love that sentiment, which sounds exactly like something my daughter would say.

The paper is PTI Bitty Box.  The tag is cut with the PTI Tag Sale #4 die.  I topped the tag off with one of my homemade buttons made out of polymer clay.

Trick or Treat

Here is another Halloween card I made for this week's CAS-Friday Challenge #22, to use ribbon loops on our project.

I used two loops of ribbon on the bottom right side of my card.  The most fun thing about this card is that the witch's hat is embossed with glow in the dark embossing powder.  It will glow green in a dark room.

Here is a peek at the inside:

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  PTI Tag-It's, SU Wicked Cool, inside sentiment from Michaels
Paper:  PTI Rustic White, True Black, Recollections Patterned Paper Pad
Other:  PTI Spiral Notebook Die & Edgers Die, SU Spiderweb Embossing Folder, Ribbon from SU & Michaels

Hi there

I'll make it brief, as this is my second post of the day.  I'm playing along with PTI's Make it Monday #35:  Custom Stamped Washi Tape and ColorQ #105Nicole showed us how easy it is to use Scor-Tape to make our own Washi Tape.  Since I only had 1/8 and 1/4 inch Scor-Tape, I thought it would look better on a mini card.

My card is 2 .5 by 3.5, sized for the Seed Packet Die.  The inks I used to match the ColorQ colors were Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Rich Cocoa, VersaMagic Aloe Vera, and  Versacolor Lavender.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Background Basics Retro, Background Basics Text Style, Mixed Messages
