CASology Week #260: Juicy

Hello and happy Tuesday.   Wow, what a week we had last week, when we celebrated our 5th anniversary in such a big way.  I hope you had a chance to play along and maybe even win a prize from one of our generous sponsors.

It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is juicy.  What does juicy mean to you?  For me, I kept thinking of 'fruit juicy' which lead me to imagine a freezer full of refreshing and colorful, fruit juicy popsicles.  (Funny how the mind works).

I used my Misti to stamp a row of overlapping popsicles from PTI Summer Sweetness across the bottom of my card.  I love how I am able to get things lined up perfectly now.

Now it's your turn.  How does JUICY inspire you?  I hope you play along this week.  Please remember to keep it Clean and Simple.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

PTI Blog Hop May 2016

Hello.  I have a quick post today where I am playing along at the PTI Blog Hop as well as AAA Card's 2nd Birthday.

I was inspired by the popsicles in the photo.  I used Summer Sweetness stamps and stamped a random pattern all over a piece of water color paper.  Then I sprayed the paper with lots of water.  After the paper dried, I stamped on the popsicle sticks and the sentiment.from Ombre Sentiments Birthday.

I am also linking this card up at Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

Mid Week Progress Report

.

Happy Wednesday.  I am here to post a few cards I made over the past several days.  First up is a card using the techniqe from this week's Make it Monday #209:  White on White Die Cuts with a Pop of Color.  One of the take aways from this week's lesson is about choosing what die cuts will work with this technique.  The image should be recognizable even without the stamping on top.  I chose to work with one of the popsicles in Summer Sweetness.  I think those popsicles are pretty easy to see, although the pink one is definitely the most scrumptious-looking.   You can almost see the WOS in the photo.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Clean and Simple Challenge.

Better late than never...I am sending birthday wishes to a very sweet friend, Monika, who is hosting a birthday linky party.  The challenge is to CASE one of her cards, and she was even kind enough to point out her favorites.  I CASED the card in the lower right corner of her linky party graphic.  It is a little hard to tell, but I cut a square out of computer paper and used it as a mask for my big dahlia stamp from SU Regarding Dahlias set.  I just love that image, and I hope Monika will love it too.

I am also linking this up at Simon Says Monday Due Date challenge.  Even though my card is past due, the birthday wishes are sincere.

The challenge at Time Out #29 is "You can't make a rainbow without a little rain"  Well, I beg to differ.  We are in a terrible drought in California and so have no rain.  BUT, I was able to make a rainbow anyway, thanks to PTI Rainbow Stripes dies.  Yay for dies saving the day.  (If only we could water our plants with dies....)  I was inspired by this card by Lisa on I'm in Haven.

Last up is a card inspired by the sketch at this week's Retro Sketches #160.  I cut into a sheet of Happy Home paper by Bella Blvd. to make a new home card.  (Don't worry, I still have a pristine sheet of this paper for hoarding purposes).  I am also linking this card up at Addicted to Stamps and More #141 where the challenge is Anything Goes.

That's it for me today.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

CASology Week 98: Shine

It's time for another challenge at CASology.  This week our cue word is SHINE.  There are so many different ways to go with this word.  My first thought was to do something with sunshine, since I have many stamps, dies and sentiments along those lines.  But, like the squirrel distracted by something shiny, I ultimately decided to use something shiny on my card.

A while back, I bought the most beautiful shimmer paper from PTI in all sorts of colors.  It is shimmery and shiny, and apparently meant to be hoarded.  I pulled out a few different colors and cut some popsicles for my card.  I used a sentiment from Summer Sweetness and my newest favorite Impression Plate (Guide Lines).

Now, it is your turn.  What do you think of when you see the word SHINE.  Have some fun with the cue word SHINE, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday 6/9 at noon (CST).

Since CASology is a Clean And Simple challenge, I thought it would be helpful to review some things to keep in mind when creating a CAS design:
1.  One main image
2.  Lots of open space (uncluttered)

3.  Limited layers & embellishments
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

You can see that my card meets all 4 criteria above.

So, what do you think of when you see the word SHINE?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by SHINE.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Monday 6/9 at noon (CST).

Don't forget to keep your card Clean and Simple.

All I Did Was CASE

I had lots of new goodies to play with this weekend, plenty of crafting time, but no good ideas.  Not one to let that stop me, I spent the weekend CASing, and I still had a crafty good time.

First up are three cards using this week's technique at Make it Monday #166:  Debossed Stamped Images.  I am also entering them at Addicted to CAS #39:  Texture, and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.  I cased myself and made a get well card for a friend going into surgery next week.  I just changed up the color scheme, sentiment, and flipped the panels over.

I practically remade Dawn's card using the colors from ColourQ #243.  I can really tell I am going to love playing with the butterflies in Beautiful Life.  I don't know why my purple is showing up so dark in the photo.

And almost the same card again in this week's Color Throwdown #294.  I'll also enter this one at Less is More #174 to use more than one stamp.  I used stamps from Life is Beautiful and Wet Paint III on this card.

I also played around with Summer Sweetness--the new popsicle set from PTI that I was most looking forward to playing with.  This card is inspired by Laurie's card here.  I used Memento Luxe pigment inks on these stamps, and the coverage is so great.  These are the type of stamps that I often have a hard time getting a good impression with dye inks.  The green popsicle is popped up and coated with a thick layer of glossy accents.

This next card was inspired by Lizzie's card here--I loved her idea to show the popsicles partly eaten and also to stamp the little fruit wedge on top.

Finally, two Father's Day cards.  The first one is inspired by my own card here--thanks to Kim for sending me the Star Cover plate die cuts.

My final card uses the color scheme at Colour Me #22.  I was inspired by this card to order the Linked Dies from CAS-ual Fridays, and used the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #78.

That's it for me for the weekend.  I hope to be able to make something more original in the coming week.
