Lawn Fawn and WPlus9

After working out with a friend at the gym and taking Sherlock to the dog park, I had most of the day home by myself to play in my craft room.  I'm starting to collect polar bear stamps, since my daughter's future college mascot is a polar bear.  I used the polar bear in Lawn Fawn Critters in the Snow to make a few cards for my polar bear card stash.

I created a background using a heart stamp from Into the Woods and used foam tape to adhere my fussy cut my polar bear right on top.  I used my Copics to add a little shading to my bear.  (still don't know what I'm doing there).

I have to say that this next card did not really come out as I saw it in my mind--a bit busy for my taste.  But, I still think that my daughter will enjoy receiving it in the mail.  Another polar bear card for my stash.

I am entering both of these cards at Lawnscaping #98 where the challenge is to create a background with stamps and Simon Says Monday Winter Stamping.  I am also entering the first card at Simon Says Wednesday Have a Heart and Addicted to Stamps #128:  Holiday--my holiday is Valentines Day.

I started playing around with WPlus9 Quilt Prints, trying variations of colors and patterns with the colors and sketch from The Challenge #23.  I decided I liked all my variations--so I added a variety of Get Well type sentiments, some subtle textures, and now I have 4 more get well cards for my stash.

The Rest of My Weekend

Sitting with my daughter some more today while she was studying for finals--I made lots more cards for some of my favorite challenges.  Lest you think I am a monster, I should explain that she has ADD, and needs me to help her stay on task.  She is shooting for straight A's, and when you see how much I made today, you will agree that it is very possible.

First up is a card for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show where the challenge is Into the Woods.  I used the sketch from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#30 and am also entering this card at A Blog Named Hero #25:  It's a Man's Man's Man's World. Can you see the woodgrain Impression plate on my card base?

Next up is a card for this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC103:  Congratulations, using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown CTD244. I used Ranger White Enamel Accents on the fillings, like I saw Donna do here

I used the sketch at this week's Retro Sketches rs#66 to make a card for Maddy, a courageous young girl battling cancer.  Please click here to learn more about how you can participate in this card drive, too.  This will be the third card I have sent to this young woman--she has endured more than anyone should.  I used my brand new Garden of Life stamps for this card.  There are so many pretty flowers in this set.

I made another card using Garden of Life, this time following the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches FMS88

Last up for me today is a card for this week's Monday Mood Board #13 at WPlus9 and also for CAS-ual Fridays CFC103:  Congratulations.  I used Quilt Prints--I think that is my favorite WPlus9 set so far.  I messed up my pattern a little somewhere (I won't say where), so I stamped a few extra red and blue pieces to randomly glue down with dimensionals and then coat with glossy accents.

That about wraps up my weekend.

3 Cards for Saturday

I have three cards to share today.  The first card is for this week's Lawnscaping Challenge #56:  Inspired By.   My card is inspired by a card made a week or so ago by my good friend Kim of Cupcakes, Cards and Kim.  As soon as I saw this card, I knew I wanted to make one just like it.  Kim used her @#$%$%$# machine (which is what I call Lucy, her Silhouette) to cut this awesome girl on bike silhouette, and she was kind enough to send one to me for my card.

Kim's Inspirational Card

Here is my card.  I will be sending this card to one of my neices, who goes to college in a town where everyone rides bikes everywhere.  This girl, with bling on her wheels and in her hair, is biking her way over to her sorority, KKG.

I decided to play with WPlus9 Monday Mood Board #9 for the first time this week.  Wow--talk about a difficult challenge--I think that sketch challenges are easiest for me, and inspirational photos are the hardest.  I was inspired by the colors, the textures, the stitching, and the flower with a button center.  Also, I wanted to use my new Quilt Prints stamp.  I am also entering this card into the birthday bash challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.

My last card is for this week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab.  I was inspired by the coffee theme, and the colors.

Cloud9 Blog Hop April, 2013

I've have a card today for this month's Cloud9 blog hop.  Here is the inspirational photo.

Isn't that a pretty scene?  I was inspired by the colors and.... my brand new Quilt Prints stamps, and my need for a get well card.  This is such a cozy pattern, and I think it is perfect for a get well card.

There's still time if you want to play along.
