Make it Monday and Addicted to CAS

I have several projects using this week's Make it Monday #187 technique of partial die cutting.  All of my projects involve tags, so I am also linking up at Addicted to CAS #51:  Tags.

I used a bookmark die as a tag in my first card, and used the In the Meadow snow drifts as my partial die cuts.  I made a snowy sky on my tag by clear embossing some little snowflakes and then sponging and blending various Distress Inks.  Do you see what is on my card base?  Yes!!  I finally was brave enough to crack open my embossing paste and use it on the SSS Snowdrift stencil.  I don't know why I was so afraid of this stuff.  It is so easy to use and makes such a fun texture.  I think you'll be seeing a lot more embossing paste around here in the future.

I used the same partial die cutting technique o the In the Meadow snowdrifts to make a few more tags.

I am experimenting with staging my photos a little bit.  What do you think?  If you have any advice, I'm all ears.

Here is my last project using the partial die cut technique, this time with the One Liner Happy die.

CASology WeeK 76: Party

This week's Cue Card for CAS-ology is 'PARTY'  When I think of 'Party', I immediately think of birthday parties.  I have thrown a good number of those for my daughters over the years.  Here, I was aiming for a party on a card.  Something very festive.  Sorry if you are tired of these Tipped Tops dies.  They have a permanent spot on my desk now.

This card above was my second attempt to make a card for this challenge.  The colors are Soft Stone, Raspberry Fizz, Plum Pudding, Hawaiian Shores, Blueberry Sky and Winter Wisteria.  My first attempt was a masculine card, as I have a BIL with a birthday coming up.

I did not think that my first card was festive enough, but I still like it enough to send and enough to enter as my second entry into this week's CAS-ology challenge.  The colors on this card are Smokey Shadow, Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, New Leaf and Limeade Ice.

And, have you seen this? It's not too late to try for a spot, to join the sweetest bunch of crafty gals for our January kit.

Make it Monday #138 and Simon Says

Hi there and happy Friday.  I am definitely looking forward to the weekend.  I have two cards today, and they are both for this week's Make it Monday #138:  Inlaid Die Cuts, as well as Simon Says Monday and Simon Says Wednesday where the challenge for both this week is Anything Goes.

I used an extra die cut 'happy' that I had left over from a previous Make it Monday challenge with graduated colors.  It is a bit hard to see in this terrible photo, but the 'happy' word shades from light to darker pink.

And, another card for the Caring Hearts drive using the inlaid die cuts technique.  This is actually my second iteration on this card.  Turns out that striped paper is especially unforgiving of slightly crooked die cuts.  Who knew?  The second time I did this card, I reversed the order of the panels from what Betsy showed in her video.  I cut the bottom panel first, making sure that the stripes were straight.  Then, I cut the peace one liner die out of a piece that was bigger than I needed, adhered the Scarlet Jewel die cut, nestled the music panel around the die cut, and trimmed the excess off the top.  Much straighter.  Clear as mud?
