PTI Oldies but Goodies

Hello and happy Saturday.  I'm kicking off the weekend by posting some cards I've been working on, inspired by all the anniversary festivities at PTI as well as some other challenges.

First up is this card, inspired by the DT samples using a PTI set introduced in 2007, Beautiful Blooms.  I am entering this card at the PTI 2007 Anniversary, Addicted to Stamps and More #229: Clean and Simple, and Simon Says Monday: Use Your Favorite Tool.  I used an impression plate to add texture, one of my favorite things to do.

Moving on to 2008, I used Garden of Life for this PTI Challenge.  My card design was inspired by Tracey's card at Muse #203, and I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday: Fantastic Florals, and Retro Rubber #56:They Say It's Your Birthday.

I was inspired to pull out On My Couch for PTI 2009 Challenge.  I used colors from Color Throwdown #430.

Last of all, I am up to 2010, where I pulled out Take Three Summer for the PTI Anniversary challenge.  I was inspired by the sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches #210, and am also entering at Addicted to CAS #105:  Wood.

That's all for me today.  I am hoping to get caught up on all the PTI challenges by tomorrow and I will post again if I can do it.

Friend to Friend and Get Well

I've got several cards to post today.  First up is a card inspired by this week's Muse #101.  I was inspired by the colored card base and the stripe of white embossed stamping.  I masked off a section of a red card base, and stamped a random grouping from Doodlie Do.  I scored above and below the stamping and added a sentiment in the reverse color scheme.

I am also entering this as another example for this week's CASology Challenge #130 where the cue word is FRIEND.  My design tip--white space can be red.  I am also linking up at Uniko  Studio #17 where the challenge is Love and Friendship and Less is More #207 where the theme is Friends.

I needed to replenish my stash of masculine get well cards.  When I saw this card from fellow CASology teamie Hazel, a lightbulb went off in my head, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I started playing around with On My Couch, Polka Dot Parade (the one with the easy chair) and some new Lil Inker dies.

I am entering the first of this series at Happy Little Stampers January Sketch Challenge, and the second at Colour Me #55.

Clean & Simple Card Making (2) Day 4

I am trying so hard to be a good student, and not fall behind on my homework.  I will work early and late, if I need to, but will NOT pull any all nighters for this class.  I am so over that stage of life, thank goodness.  I have three cards for today's lesson.

I pretty much followed the layout of Julie's card for this card.  She showed us how to paint the image with a bit of water.  I am not showing my attempt at that technique.  Trust me, you don't want to see.  This is the card I made after I decided to skip the water coloring tip.  I also decided not to flick ink all over my nice white card, but instead settled for some small silver pearls.  She used a really beautiful Hero Arts Dogwood stamp, with lots of detail.  That stamp is going on my list.  I only wish it wasn't a wood stamp.  I have been eying that stamp on and off for over a year, and the only reason I haven't bought it is because of the wood.  My clear stamps have totally spoiled me.

This next card is basically the same card as above, but is supposed to look like a blueprint--with white ink on a dark blue base.  I felt like this card had a more serene feel, and so I made it a sympathy card--always good to have those on hand.

The next video was a clean and simple chalk board card.  Unlike some of the other videos I have seen with this technique, we were encouraged to keep our card clean--no smudges or double stamping.   Kristina showed us how to lay out our stamps on the card stock and then pick up the entire scene with a stamp press, so we could stamp one time and everything was in the right place.  What a great trick, and now I see why a stamp press is so much more handy than a normal block.  She also showed us how to ground our image using an embossing folder just on the bottom of the card, and how to use a t-square to frame our images with a white gel pen.  I am entering this card into the current Passion for Papertrey challenge, which is 'black and white'.

My last little project for today is another Valentines pillow box, for this week's Make it Monday #102:  Pillow Box Stamping and Assembly. I am really loving the kraft, red, white and black color scheme on these boxes.

One last note--as the current challenge at Simon Says Stamp is 'Anything Goes', I will be entering all of these projects (and everything else I create this week) into that challenge.

Thank You Cards

Here are some of the the thank you cards I made after my recent birthday.

This first card is a CASE of this card by Melissa Bickford.  I think it is the card that sold me on the Lighten Up set.

This next card uses this week's Retro Sketch #10,  and a brand new Spellbinders Edgeabilities die--thanks Cathy.

Of course, my friend the naughty rooster had to pop up here, too.  He is such a show stealer, jumping and crowing onto nearly every card these days.

Four of a Kind #7

It's the 16th of March, which means it's time for our Four of a Kind post.  I can't believe that we have been doing this for 7 months.  How time flies.  If you are new and want to know what's going on, please click here to read the details of our Four of a Kind group.  If you would like to see the other 6 posts, please click here.

It was my turn to be hostess this month, and I chose to use the 'On My Couch' stamp set and some pretty patterned paper from October Afternoon.  Here are some pictures of the kits I sent to Cathy, Kim and Renee.

I am just on the edge of my seat, wondering what they made with their kits.  They have given me hints, but I won't see anything until we all go live at the same time.

Here are four cards that I made with the same kit I sent to them:

I was able to use the lamps and a sentiment from Lighten Up, because it came in the mail after I had already sent out my kits.  This card was inspired by this card from Melissa Bickford.

The other three members of Four-of-a-Kind are:
Cathy Weber:  Empty Nest Crafter
Kim Heggins:  Cupcakes, Cards and Kim
Renee Lynch:  It's a Patchwork Life

Please stop by their blogs, if you haven't been there already, and see what they have created for our Four-of-a-Kind project.

Supplies in the Kits:

Stamps:  On My Couch and On My Couch Additions
Paper:  October Afternoon Farmhouse:  (Guest Room, Porch Swing, and Phonograph), Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy, Ocean Tides, Smokey Shadow
Dies:  On My Couch, Filigree Border,  Happy Day, Limitless Layers Oval, Mat Stack 4 Layerz, Rick Rack,  Memory Box Small Tilda Swirl, Whimsy Circle
Other:  October Afternoon & PTI buttons, SU lace ribbon, misc grey/silver ribbon, polymer clay rosettes made by me, Pure Poppy & Ocean Tides Felt
