My Crafty Week

I'm playing along with MUSE #283, where my bestie Kim has this card to inspire us.  Isn't it cute?  I saw her make it!

Kim's Inspiration Card

I was inspired by Kim's background stamping, and the fun animals randomly stamped.

I picked a card from many years ago to redo for PTI Transformation Tuesday Challenge.  This is truly one of those 'what was I thinking' cards.

My Original Card

I changed the orientation of the card, used stamping instead of die cutting for my main design, and used colors that I thought worked well together.  I used the photo at Addicted to Stamps and More #310 to inspire my colors.  I must admit to liking my new card much more than the original.

My Transformed Card

Next up is a card I made with Kim's supplies when she was visiting.  I am entering it at The Card Concept #98, where my style is Clean and Simple, and also at Seize the Birthday where the topping is Die Cuts or Punches.

I had birds in mind when I pulled out these die cut bird houses, something I cut when Jacquie was visiting and brought some of her supplies to share.  I am entering this card at Addicted to CAS #145: Tweet.

This week's Make it Monday #336: Faux Gilded Leaves was such a fun technique, and I loved Laurie's card so much, I tried to recreate it as best I could.  I am also entering this card at Just Us Girls #459 and Just Add Ink #427: Just add 'K'  The 'K' here is kraft.

Next up is a birthday banner, inspired by the challenge colors at Where Creativity Meets C9 #25, and the Use Those Sequins challenge at CAS-ual Fridays CFC#208.

I loved the fun crafty inspiration photo at Inkspirational #170, and made this card to send to a crafty friend some day.

Last, but not least is a holiday card using a poppystamps die for Poppystamps Challenge #48: Anything Goes.

Happy Tuesday and welcome to a new challenge at ColourQ.

CASology Week 143: Ombre

Hello and happy Tuesday.  It's time for another CASology Challenge.  This week, our cue word is OMBRE.  Ombre is so trendy now--I'm seeing it everywhere, and I had a lot of fun thinking of how to incorporate it into a card.

I used PTI Ombre Builders stamps to make an ombre panel that covers about 1/3 of my card.  The rule of thirds is a great one to follow to help keep your card design CAS.

In case you were wondering, here are the inks I used in my ombre pattern in order left to right:  PTI Tropical Teal, Heidi Swapp Teal, WPlus9 Ocean Drive, PTI Hawaiian Shores, WPlus9 Lake House and PTI Aqua Mist.

I had a few dry runs of my stamping that were too pretty to throw away, so I have some bonus inspiration for you.

So, what do you think?  Will you play along this week and make something inspired by the word OMBRE?  Please remember to keep your card Clean and Simple.

Head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from the design team.

With Deepest Sympathy

Hello and happy Friday.  I'm here with a quick post with a card for the first day of PTI's 8th anniversary celebration.

I masked off a rectangle, and used a stamp from Ombre Builders to fill the space.  I die cut 2 butterflies from Life is Beautiful--one in Aqua Mist and one in Vellum, adhered them with a skinny bit of score tape just in the middle, and stamped my sentiment from Words of Comfort on a Double Ended Banner die.  I used white pearls that I colored with a Copic Marker to decorate the center of the butterfly and also to hide the adhesive.  I ran my front panel through my Big Shot once with the Canvas/Linen Impression Plate and then again with the LID Side Stitched Rectangle die.

I also ended up rotating the sketch.

5 Cards for Challenges

.

Hi there and happy Wednesday.  I've got a card for this week's Make it Monday #180:  Stamping Ombre Backgrounds.  I loved Laura's background so much that I decided to try to make it myself.  I pulled out the same stamp set and inks and set to work.  I don't think mine came out as nicely as hers, but I am still pleased.

I was inspired by this card by Taheerah and wanted to try embossing in gold using embossing paste.  Honestly, I don't know why it never occurred to me that one could emboss with embossing paste.  You would have thought that I would have clued in when I heard the word ...'emboss'.  Anyway, I loved Taheerah's card and used my SSS Falling Snow Stencil with gold embossing powder to make my card.  I am entering this card at Virginia's View Challenge #9:  All Things Metallic.

When I saw Cristina's tag this morning on Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags, I knew I wanted to do something just like it for The Card Concept #23:  Krafty Christmas challenge.  I will put my card in the Clean and Layered category.

Last up are two cards that use the fabulous sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #99 and the fall colors at ColourQ #267.  I made a plaid strip using WMS Offbeat Backgrounds and then die cut and stamped the leaves and acorns from Autumn Acorns.

Well, that's it for me today.  Need to dash off to pick up my girls at school.

Make it Monday and ColourQ

A super quick post today of two cards.  The first uses the ColourQ colors for cQc #252 and the technique in Make it Monday #174.  I am also linking to Simon Says Wednesday challenge of Anything Goes.

My next card is already mailed out and received, and it is also for Make it Monday #174 and Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes.

I am terribly behind on my blog visits and comments, and promise I'll be by this weekend.
