Time Out #41...A Laugh is a Smile that Bursts

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Time Out.  This week, our challenge is Inspired by Words.  We have this quote by American poet William Cullen Bryant:

"Autumn...the year's last, lovliest smile."

My idea was to use a sentiment related to 'smile' and fall colors.  I pulled out PTI Funky Florals, and stamped in Summer Sunrise, Scarlet Jewel, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Canyon Clay and Terracotta Tile.  I added a little bit of burlap texture to my front panel before popping it up on the card base.

I hope that you will take some Time Out to play along with us over the next two weeks.  Please see the Time Out challenge blog to see more inspiration from the Design Team and our guest designer, Glenda of My Paper Cat.

Edited to add:  Linking up to Freshly Made Sketches #206.  (Thanks, Lisa)

Time Out Guest Designer

Hello Hello!!  I am so very happy to say that I am a Guest Designer this week at Time Out because I won their black and white with a splash of color with this card (third one down).  Our inspiration this week is 'Home Sweet Home' and we have this bright and beautiful inspiration photo to work with.

I just loved this photo.  I was inspired by that wall paper, and so used Waltzingmouse Funky Flowers stamps to create my own bright and vibrant background. I split my panel with a stitched Lawn Fawn die to provide a space for my sentiment, after impressing the entire card front with the Burlap Impression Plate.

I hope you will play along with us at Time Out this week.

Sunday Wrap Up

The weekend is winding down, and it is time for me to post my cards and clean up the big mess I made.  First up is a card for Day #2 of the Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary Celebration.  The challenge was to create a project inspired by Maile Belles.  This was a very fun challenge.

Maile's Card
This is the card I chose.  I used the same cover plate die, but made a water colored background, rather than patterned paper.

I am also submitting this card to CAS-UAL Fridays cfc136 must love watercolor.

Challenge #3 was 'Bagged and Tagged' and I made a little tag using Tiny Treats Valentines, and tied it on to a Favor It #3 treat box.

Challenge #4 was to build a bouquet using more than one stamp set.  I was inspired to use Mega Gracious Vases by one of the cards Betsy posted this morning.

I used so many different stamp sets for this card.  So nice to see all my stamps and dies playing nicely with each other.

My flowers were from Beautiful Blooms II and Funky Florals.
Leaves were from Embellished Elegance.
Stems were from Beautiful Brushstrokes.
My sentiment was from Mini Blooms.
The vase was from Mega Gracious Vases, and I stamped over it with the Crackle background stamp.
I made a little shelf out of Raspberry Fizz paper and stamped it with Modern Wood Mats in Raspberry Fizz ink.

I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Bright and Beautiful.

I have one more card to post today.  I created a background by sponging and blending 3 different colors of pink Distress Ink, and then adhered  Love Cover Up from Lil Inkers on top.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:  Addicted to CAS Hugs and Kisses, Addicted to Stamps #130, Curtain Call Kissing Booth, Inkspirational Challenge #75 Rose Colors, Simon Says Monday H is for....Hearts.

3 Simple Cards

I made a card using this week's CAS(E) This Sketch #79, and am also entering Iron Craft for the first time.  I used Avery Elle Bonjour stamps and various Memento Luxe inks.  I have to say (again) how much I love these inks--the coverage for solid stamps is so great.  They stamped perfectly every time.

I hope you are not sick of the ColourQ #244 colors, because I have two more cards using them.  When I made this card set that I posted yesterday, I stamped a 4 1/4 by 7 panel using the middle sized flower from WMS Funky Flowers.  After cutting that panel into 1 1/2 strips, I decided that the scale was off, so put those strips aside and stamped another panel using the smallest flower.  I took my original stamped strips and turned them into two simple thank you cards, inspired by this card Laurie posted the other day.  I loved the idea of the sentiment on a stitched rectangle panel sitting atop a scribbled circle die cut.  I am entering these cards at Virginia's View Challenge #4 Tags & Scraplings.

That's it for me today.

Happy Belated Birthday to Marybeth

SURPRISE!!!!

Today a small army of us are getting together to belatedly celebrate one of the sweetest gals in blog land--Marybeth of Marybeth's Time for Paper.  She is such a talented creative force, and always takes the time to leave encouraging comments wherever she goes.  If I was a little bit more on the ball, we would not be celebrating several weeks late.  However.....better late than never, and the lateness certainly adds to the surprise.

So, let's start with some non-fat cupcakes..

Of course, it wouldn't be a blog hop without a card.

Please hop around to see all the other participants in Marybeth's Belated Birthday Blog Hop.

I forgot to say that I followed the sketch for this week's Retro Sketches.

Thanks for joining us in this virtual party.  Please don't forget to head on over to Marybeth's to leave her a little belated birthday love, too.

PTI May 2013 Blog Hop

What a fun topic we had this month--flowers.  I am afraid to count the flower sets I have, but it is safe to say that I have a lot.  I thought about trying to make one card with each of my flower sets, and quickly ruled that out as impossible.  I did try to make something for each of the color schemes we were given, and I made it to all but one.  I'll have to get that one some other time.

 Sweet Spring

First up is a little teacher gift that I made based on this post by Christina.  I ordered the paper cubes here.    It's hard to get a perspective on size in this photo--the cube is 2 inches on all sides.  It was surprisingly easy to stamp on the side of the cube.  I colored with copics, and even added some glitter with a sakura gel pen.

I stamped and colored some images on a piece of computer paper, and stuck it inside of this pen to coordinate with the memo cube.

Here is a side view:

I made a matching tag using Tremendous Tags, and tied it all together with some sheer ribbon from Michaels.

I am going to enter this into the Gift Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Friends Till The End

My next card uses paper piecing, and is also for this week's Make it Monday #117.  I tried to stick as close as possible to this color scheme, but had to make a few substitutions because I really wanted to use my Distress Dots paper.

Funky Florals

This is my favorite of the color schemes, and I think this card is one of my favorites for today.  I was inspired by this card I saw a while back, which reminded me how much I love my Background Basics Medallions.

Beautiful Blooms II

I started this card by stamping a background on a quarter sheet of white.  I ended up cutting it in two pieces, and using it on two cards.   I wanted to use a vertical sentiment on both cards, and couldn't figure out if it should read from the bottom up or the top down.  So, I did one each way, and perhaps you can tell me which looks right?

Botanical Silhouettes

I got the idea to use that picket fence from Lisa's card here. I used the fence from Little Bitty Bird.  I can't believe I own two different picket fence dies.

The Sweet Life

Last is my other favorite card of the post.  I am also submitting this card to this week's Simon Says...Take a Picture.

I know I have kept you too long.  Enjoy the rest of the hop.  I am eager to see some of my other flower sets in action.
