My Crafty Weekend

Hello and happy Sunday.  What is the best thing to do when you are up crazy early with jet lag?  Make cards, of course!!

First up is a CAS birthday card that I am entering at Color Throwdown #557 and Addicted to Stamps and More #355.

I am entering this next card at Just Add Ink #471 where I was inspired by the yarn colors to do some color blocking with my new Altenew Layered Cityscape dies.  I am also entering this at Simon Says Wednesday Challenge of Clean and Simple.

My next card is for the challenge at A Blog Named Hero August:  Stretch Your Stamps.  I used a bookcase background stamp and cut it to use it as a frame.  I am also entering this card at AAA Birthdays #4:  For the Boys.

Time for some fall fun with the mice on my next card, where I have used an interpretation of the sketch at MFT Sketch Challenge #451, and rotated the sketch 90 degrees.

I stamped some brightly colored baby birds from Paper Smooches up the side of my next card, and I am entering it at the Paper Smooches August challenge and AAA Cards #147: Along the Edge.

And finally, a card inspired by all the laundry I did this week, after returning from vacation.  I am entering it at Lawn Fanatics #59:  Something See-Through, where I used their suggestion and used vellum on my washing machine, and the sketch at The Paper Players #496.

That's it for me today.  I had a wonderful vacation, but it is good to be back.

My Crafty Weekend

I was lucky enough to have some crafty time this weekend, and played along in several challenges. First up is a card using colored pencils on kraft, part of the challenge this week at Make it Monday #276.  I used the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #211.

Next up is this card, using a background stamp from MFT, as well as a freebie HUGS die from them and a PTI border die.

I am entering his card in the following challenges:  Happy Little Stampers March CAS Challenge: Die Cuts, The Flower Challenge #6: Anything Goes, Inkspirational Challenge #129: Connect, and Paper Players #334: Cut it Out.

My next card is inspired by the challenge this week at Less is More #318: Mainly Teal.  In particular, I really loved Jen's inspiration card.  I was inspired to pull out an old Stamplorations stencil by a card I recently saw (but now cannot remember where--if anyone knows, please tell me so I can give credit).

I am also entering this card at Addicted to Stamps and More #251: Anything Goes.

And finally, a card inspired by this fun photo at Just Add Ink #349.

I am also entering this card at Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

That's it for me today.

Another Crafty Day

You know that old saying--while the cat's away, the mice will play?  Well, DH and DD#2 are still out of town, and so I have had lots of time to craft.

My first card is for this week's ColourQ cQc #177, where I used PTI colors Scarlet Jewel, Aqua Mist, Ripe Avocado, Kraft and White.  I came across this card by Donna at Three Umbrella's.  Her card was called out as Moxie Fab, so I just had to go look.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make something along those lines.

I used PTI Background Basics Super Stripes to stamp a plaid pattern.  My original intention was to cut out the word 'you' and use the negative space.  However, it didn't look right, so I ended up cutting a couple of 'you's and building it up in layers.  I think you can see it better.  I think I still need some work in figuring out where to randomly place my rhinestones.

And, while we are talking about Colour Q, I would like to thank the ColourQ team for naming this card as the  Color Queen for Week #174.  I was so excited--it's my first time as Queen.

My next card is for Muse challenge #5.  This week's Muse is Marion Vagg.  This was a treat for me, as I had never been to her blog before.  Here is the inspiration card.

I was inspired by her use of washi strips, bright colors and a sentiment made out of die cut letters.   I used three patterns of washi tape that came together (so I guess that means that someone thinks they match), and had my stripes go on the diagonal.  I coated my die cut letters in several layers of UTEE--they are so shiny in person.  When I put them down after embossing, they were all crooked and wonky, and I decided I liked them that way, so that is how I glued them down.

I realize I had completely forgotten about the 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge--how could that happen, and decided to play along today when I remembered.  The prize this week is from Paper Smooches--one of my fave stamp companies, so check it out here.  You probably have 10 extra minutes to play along.  I used 9 minutes and 58 seconds to make my card--why does everything take so long?

And, finally--I fell in love with Marybeth's pinwheel tag here, and raided my scrap basket to come up with a whole bunch of pinwheel tags for my birthday stash.  I could have gone on and on, but I stopped at 6 because I ran out of time.  I used double sided paper, cut into 2 1/4 inch squares, and made one from each side of the paper.  I am entering all of these tags at Make it Monday #104.

Another fun sketch for Retro Sketches challenge this week.  I must have birthdays on the brain, as my baby is turning 13 at the end of the month.  This card is not for her, as there is pink in it. I'm working on some owl cards for her, and I'll show them later in the week.

Birthday Cards

I fell in love with this simple card design by Stephanie at Stamping & Sharing.  I'm sure most of you are already familiar with this sweet gal's blog.  If not, I invite you to grab a cup of tea and a scone, and head on over for an incredible dose of eye candy.

I had the idea to CASE this design and beef up my stock of birthday cards in the process.

Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores

If you know Stephanie, you know that she often makes multiples--one in every color.  Of course, I had to do the same thing, right?  I pulled out all my baker's twine, and made as many cards as I had matching paper/ink/twine.

Orange Zest and Simply Chartreuse

I changed up the images, choosing a variety of tags from 2011 and 2012 Birthday Tags.

Blueberry Sky and Pure Poppy

I used sentiments from those tag sets, and Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler.

Summer Sunrise and Winter Wisteria

Seeing all these cards together makes me very happy.  I hope you do something today that makes you happy.
