PTI's 8th Anniversary Celebration

Hi.  I am popping in very quickly to post a card for Day 7 Heavy Metal Challenge.  I cut the Modern Cross Quilt cover plate out of true black and then adhered it on a tilt with foam tape.  I die cut thanks in gold foil and black a few times and stacked them all together.  Then, stuck the stack onto my card, and I was done.

My next card is for the Blue Ombre Challenge.  I took two paint chips with varying shades of blue, sliced them up, and stuck them on my card front on a diagonal, trying to mix the colors up randomly. I used a birthday sentiment from Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday.  Pretty quick and easy.  I think I am going to go to the paint store tomorrow to get more paint chips.  I am having too much fun usng them on my cards.

Thanks for Visiting

  1. Love your fabulous patterns, Joyce! These cards would work for anyone but would be great masculine cards. The black & gold looks fantastic and the blue is so cool. I keep forgetting to pick up paint chips. Never would have thought of such a clever and easy design!

  2. These are both so bold and graphic. I agree with Sharron, in that they can be used for anyone and that's always a good thing since masculine cards are something I lack in. The use of paint chips in the second card is ingenious! Totally love it!

  8. Nice cards Joyce. I really love the black card, but the paint chip is imaginative.
One of the laddies in my new beginning card making class is looking for Jewish/Hebrew stamps. Can you tell me what company/companies I can direct her to?

  9. That black and white card is like an optical illusion, Joyce. With the shadows, it looked like you had another layer under there. And then it looked like you glued on the white crosses. I love the idea of the split color swatches. Ingenious!

  10. Joyce...two amazing and stunning cards. Your first card is just so classy and elegant, love that beautiful black cover plate background with the shiny gold thanks, one of my all time favorites of your cards. The blue ombre is so fun, love the paint chip idea, so fun and clever and now I need to head to Home Depot for a few craft supplies.

  15. Awesome cards that qualify as masculine also which isn't an easy task, Joyce. Smiled when I saw your blue ombre made from paint chips because that was going to be my best option, but I didn't want to make a special trip to get them. Have lots of others on hand but not blue because that isn't a color palette that would work in our house. Happy Valentine's Day!

When I saw the thumbnail, I was wondering how you did the blue ombré card ... fantastic idea ... and very, very cool! Congratulations on your win at PTI ... totally fabulous! Anita :)

  22. I really like that paint chip card and how they are all off center and mixed up, it is a great look. I don't like filching paint chips from the store. I always feel like they know I'm not going to paint and are giving me the stink eye!
