CASology Week #86: Roots

It's time for another CASology challenge.  This week, our cue word is ROOTS.  What do you think of when you see the word ROOTS?  Are you thinking of trees or plants?  Family roots?  Root..root..root for the home team?  Have some fun with this cue word, and then please link up your creation on the CASology blog by Monday 3/17 at noon (CST).

When I saw the cue word, my first thought was family roots.  My family heritage is Jewish, and, since Passover is coming up, and I needed a Passover card to send to an elderly relative back in New Jersey,  I went with that.  I think I have used every appropriate image from PTI Mazel Tov on Passover cards at one time or another, so I decided to take a different approach.  I went for a sweet tree from Teach and Inspire to signify spring and new growth.  This tree has the happy coincidence of also having roots.  A two-fer.  It doesn't get much better than that.

I stamped my tree on a narrow panel in Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa and Simply Chartreuse inks and tied a little tag around it with my sentiment (from Mazel Tov).  I adhered that panel to my card base with foam tape.  I impressed my card base with the Woodgrain Impression Plate.  Impression plates and folders are a great way to add interest to white space, while keeping the overall card clean and simple.

So, what do you think of when you see the word ROOTS?

Check out the beautiful designs from the CASology Design Team members and see how they were inspired by ROOTS.  Then, please play along and link your creation to the CASology blog by Monday 3/17 at noon (CST)

Yay--More time to play:
In order to give participants more time to play along, we are extending the deadline for entries to Mondays at noon (Central Time). Due to this extension, we will be announcing our winners and honorable mentions on Tuesdays at 7:00 a.m. (Central Time), one hour before a new challenge begins. Challenges will begin at the same time as usual, 8:00 a.m. (Central Time) on Tuesdays.

How will you be inspired by ROOTS?

  8. "Roots" usually makes me think I need to have my hair dyed, but not this time since I just had it done. Also, my hairdresser says 6-inches grown out is not "roots." Well, none of it is roots really as the root is in my scalp!

Love your passover card. The woodgrain backing was perfect for the lovely crisp tree.
