Happy Birthday and Happy Halloween, Too

I decided to use my Fresh Squeezed Subway Series Basics to make a birthday card and help FSS celebrate their first birthday.  I based my card on one of my previous cards here, and used this week's colors at ColourQ cQc #209 for my card.  I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Monday Challenge:  Say it With Stamps.  I stamped the Birthday Style Balloons over the FSS Subway stamp, and then stamped just the little balloon from FSS in Orange Zest, cut it out, adhered with dimensional adhesive and then covered it with Glossy Accents.

I have not played at Make it Mondays in a while, but today's lesson is a fun one--Repeat + Lift.  I stuck very close to the example Nicole showed--the technique requires a word die cut with matching stamp, and my choices are limited.

I thought the stamping looked pretty cool even without the die cut, and I may try this again sometime without it.  Here is the front panel before I adhered the die cut:

My last card is for this week's Spooky Scene challenge at Curtain Call.  My friend Cathy was nice enough to send me a bunch of Halloween die cuts, and I used some of them for this card.  I think they are from Lil Inkers.  You cannot tell from this photo, but the Hocus Pocus sentiment is embossed with glow in the dark embossing powder.  I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Monday Challenge:  Say it With Stamps.

  3. LOVE your FS birthday card...it just oozes happy and party. Your PTI card turned out super neat and I think you should definitely make a card without the die cut, too....I love the way the overlapping stamping looks. And I didn't even know that glow-in-the-dark embossing powder exists, but it's definitely on my list of wants now.

  11. The plaid is fabulous on the balloon card, Joyce, the MIM birthday is stunning (I prefer your colour to Nichole's!) and Hocus Pocus is such fun ... with glow in the dark embossing powder? How cool! Anita :)

  12. All are wonderful. I wanted to do the MIM challenge but alas I have no stamp to go with my die. I think the stamping looks great without the die over it, and vice versa.

  14. Love the plaid on the first card & your MIM card is great. I agree that the stamped sentiment is good enough to stand alone, but it does add more dimension & interest to have the die cut.
